Obama Fails to Mention God in Fourth of July Address
“Thanks, everybody. From my family to yours, have a safe and happy Fourth of July.” That was the conclusion to Obama’s Fourth of July Address. Looking back at the previous two years, the President has finished with appropriate phrases like “God bless you all.” But this year was different.
After an inspiring talk about “this most American of holidays” in which Obama mentioned hotdogs, hamburgers, fireworks, his daughter’s birthday, and the Obama family party to which “several hundred members of our military and their families” are invited, we noticed something missing.
Obama did not mention God in his Independence Day speech. He talked about the founding fathers, quoted the Declaration of Independence, and spoke about the many races and religions represented in today’s America. “Our allegiance to this declaration,” says Obama, “is the creed that binds us together. It’s what, out of many, makes us one.”
After a little cheer for the US women’s national soccer team, he concluded the speech with a politically correct, family friendly phrase.
As his presidency draws to a close, it seems Obama is letting a little too much of his true character show.
