ICE Director Refuses to Take Action Against Sanctuary Cities; Senate Passes a Bill Giving Amnesty to Gang Members

A Senate Judiciary Committee hearing was held this week to discuss the ongoing issue of criminal illegals and the sanctuary cities that refuse to hand them over to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Meanwhile, the Senate passes a bill that could give amnesty to thousands of criminal illegals including dangerous gang members. 

Several families attended the hearing to share touching stories of loss and heartache caused by illegal alien murderers. After listening to the emotional testimonies, ICE Director Sarah Saldaña told lawmakers that until Congress passes “comprehensive immigration reform,” nothing will be done about sanctuary cities and their blatant disregard for the law. 

Louisiana Senator David Vitter became frustrated and tried to provoke a different answer from Saldaña: “…you don’t think right now we can stop sanctuary cities from flaunting federal law? You don’t think right now there can be any negative consequences when they do not properly cooperate under existing federal law with immigration enforcement?”

The director’s terse reply: “That’s what I understand that all of you are working on.” Saldaña and USCIS (National Citizenship and Immigration Services Council) Director Leon Rodriquez are responsible for carrying out Obama’s amnesty program for “DREAMers.” The program includes medical benefits and work permits for low-income illegal immigrants…all funded by taxpayer dollars. 

As illegal alien violence continues to rise, one would think putting a stop to it would be a federal priority (if only the President wasn’t so in love with illegal immigrants!). 

Even worse, an immigration bill supported by Senator Charles Schumer and Senator Marco Rubio would have granted amnesty to many of the criminal illegals hiding out in sanctuary cities like San Francisco. Turns out, Rubio admitted to ICE President Chris Crane that the legislature was flawed. The document had more to do with financial gains, special interest groups, and political agendas than public safety.  

The bill grants immediate legalization and a road to citizenship to criminal illegals and gang members and prevents ICE from doing its job. The bill offers no solution and no way to enforce Visa overstays. The bill was passed with 68 “yes” votes and will grant amnesty to gang members. This includes welfare, US citizenship, and green cards. The passage of the bill with no amendments was the result of a plan contrived by the Gang of Eight.

As reported in The Washington Post: “The eight met in private before each committee hearing, hashing out which amendments they would support and which oppose as a united coalition. Senate aides said amendments were rejected if either side felt they would shatter the deal.”

ICE President Chris Crane and USCIS President Ken Palinkas issued the following statement the day the bill was passed: “ICE officers and USCIS adjudications officers have pleaded with lawmakers not to adopt this bill. [The bill] …will make Americans less safe and it will ensure more illegal immigration – especially Visa overstays – in the future. It provides legalization for thousands of dangerous criminals while making it more difficult for our officers to identity public safety and national security threats. The legislation was guided from the beginning by anti-enforcement special interests and, should it become law, will have the desired effect of these groups: blocking immigration enforcement.”
