President Harris?  Not so fast

President Biden finally conceded to the inevitable.  One way or the other, he would not be residing in the White House after January 20, 2025.  There is no doubt there is a significant level of agony in giving up the presidency — especially since he now knows he was facing an almost certain crushing defeat at the hand of his political nemesis, Donald Trump.  Biden was being beaten so badly that he could not even be allowed to remain in the race.  So much for the “I am the only one who can beat Trump.”  Ouch!

Contrary to the media narrative, it was not last minute decision. At least two news outlets had quoted a top White House source saying that Biden had previously decided to announce his withdrawal over this past weekend – and they reported it five days ahead of the announcement.

Despite the calls for an open convention and a vetting process – to hear from several potential candidates — the fix was in for Vice President Harris.  Privately, the major endorsements were lined up and the millions of fundraising emails were just waiting for the “send” button to be pushed.

Yes, there are a few formalities to work out, but unless something dramatic occurs, Harris will be the Democrats’ standard bearer heading into the November election.

So, what about Harris?   Let’s take a look at Harris in terms of the pros and cons – and even things that may cut both ways depending on one’s viewpoint.

Obviously, Harris’ biggest advantage is that she is the incumbent Vice President of the United States – with all the advantages that provides.  That includes name recognition … national exposure … and the immediate acquisition of the Biden/Harris campaign infrastructure and money.

With Biden’s endorsement, Harris has the support of the lion’s (or the lioness’) share of the delegates.  After all, they have already voted for her as part of the team.

To appreciate the advantages the office provides, ask yourself this question.  If she were not the Vice President of the United States, would Harris be in contention for the Democrat nomination today?  If you answered “yes,” you need to brush up on your political understanding.  Incumbency is arguably THE most important advantage for Harris.

So, what are her assets and liabilities in a campaign against Trump?

The most obvious advantage is that she eliminates the age and mental acuity issue that crippled Biden.  To some extent, there is a reversal of polarities since Trump is now the “old” candidate or even the “too old” candidate.  Those on the left are already spinning that he is a dementia victim with a psychopathic personality.  In fact, conservative apostate George Conway has launched an anti-Trump Political Action Committee (PAC) called the Anti-Psychopath PAC.

Those accusation against Trump is the dog that will not hunt.  Most folks see a rather healthy and robust candidate no matter what they might think of him and his politics.  The claim appeals to the acolytes but has not been effective with less partisan and more objective voters.

Another advantage for Harris is that she is not bogged down with legal and criminality issues.  That scale was somewhat balanced by Biden’s issues.  He had his own issue concerning the improper removal of government documents.  His son, Hunter, is now a convicted felon and some of his business dealings appear to embroil Papa Biden as ‘The Big Guy.”

Harris is not a great orator, but better than Biden – even before his mental issues came to the surface.  She seems to have taken control of her grating cackle, but still produces verbal “word salads.”  Fortunately for Harris, she is not facing a Ronald Reagan in terms of public communication skills and messaging.  Harris is more likely to hold her own in a debate with Trump.

Some analysts say Harris will be a major game changer.  As a somewhat fresh face, she will cause a major shift in the voting pattern – and surge ahead of Trump.  That is the giddy message being broadcast by the Democrats in the wake of Biden’s departure.  I am not so sure.

The challenge for Harris is that a good 80 to 90 percent of the voters have made up their minds – and they are currently leaning to Trump and have been for almost a year.  According to polls, Trump leads over Harris 52 to 48 percent.  There is a caveat, however.  Those polls were speculative – prior to Biden’s withdrawal.  It will be a matter of weeks – after the Democratic National Convention — before we can draw any conclusions about Harris strength over the long haul.

Like Biden, Harris polls worse in battleground states than she does across the nation.  That is because Democrats win by huge majorities in the largest states and Republicans win in the largest number of smaller states – and the final outcome is up to a handful of swing states to put one candidate or the other over the top in the all-important Electoral College.

Harris will have to win over a lot of votes to just come up even with Trump – AND she will have to get her winning margin from a very small pool of voters.  So, where does she gain?

Wherever she gets them, it will be in small increments.  There is some small potential with that sliver of independent voters who are truly on the fence.  But there are not enough to tip the scale for her – and she was losing among independents prior to her coronation.

Some argue that she will “bring home” Black voters who are now shifting to Trump.  That may not be the case.  Harris is not as popular among African American Blacks as one might think.  First of all, she is half Indian – and tends to accentuate that part of her ancestry with frequent public statements about her mother. 

Harris has a white husband.  While it is not something we hear about in open conversation, there are lot of folks in the Black community who do not like mixed marriages.  They see that as a form of racial rejection.

White liberals—without much direct experience in the Black community – see everyone with dark skin as one culture, that is not how the various cultures see themselves.  In fact, there is also a cultural divide between the so-called African Blacks and the Caribbean “islanders.”

Many Black voters are critical of Harris’ days as California Attorney General, when she was very aggressive in sending young Black men to prison.  This is significant since it is the young Black male voters she would have to win back.  She does nothing to attract Hispanic voters who are trending to Trump.  Ironically, the repackaged Harris has flipped to the soft-on-crime side – even putting up parole money for rioters.

On the issues that matter most to voters, she is tied to policies in which Trump dominates – the economy and immigration.  She is especially vulnerable on immigration since most voters see her handling of the border issues as an abject failure.  She is also on the downside on crime and cultural issues.  She may be too woken for the American voter.  She is harder on Israel than even Biden was. That is why Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez and the squad wetting the panties over her.

Harris’ one winning issue is abortion.  She is in line with 60 percent of the electorate.  However, it ranks down the line in the list of issues of greatest concern to voters – in some polling, not even in the top ten.  It is an issue that she cannot resolve.  She can promise legislation to overrule the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and to stop efforts by Republicans to pass a national ban on abortion.  In reality, neither of those actions will occur – or even be considered by Congress.  There will be no national ban on abortions and no national legislation to legalize them.  It is all empty campaign rhetoric on both sides.

Abortion is one of the “women’s issues.”  That demographic has pretty well solidified in terms of Biden and Trump.  Does Harris change the dynamic?  Can she cut into Trump’s female vote?  Again, not significantly, but every little bit helps.

Same with young voters.  Trump gets a good share of the 18 to 30 crowd, but it is predominantly the men.  It will not be easy for Harris to appeal to them.

Then there are the older voters.  She may actually suffer a loss from that crowd. Some – rightly or wrongly — may find it difficult to envision a woman as President.  While they may be Democrats, they are far from the radical variety.  Harris’ wokeness could be a problem with them.

Harris will have the enthusiastic support of labor leaders, but she may have more problems with the rank-in-file.  That has been a problem for Democrats since President Reagan.

Perhaps Harris’ biggest problems are the intangible issues.  For whatever reasons, Harris has rather a poor shelf appeal.  She lacks charisma.   Voters tend not to like her.  They do not hate her, but she is just not someone with whom they want to have dinner.  That is why her fledgling run for president in 2020 rose and crashed so quickly.  Once voters got to know her better, they quickly lost interest – and it was not based on issues. 

Yes, there is a unified celebratory mood among Democrats – at least those going public.  But what about the anger and hard feelings?  The assumption is that every Biden voter will be a Harris voter.  That would require a lot of people on Team Biden to set aside their anger at the political establishment who forced Biden out.  They may not become Trump voters, but they could express their anger and frustration by staying home.  There are among Biden voters are people who do not like Harris — and do not want her in the White House.  Her challenge is not only attracting voters but to keep too many voters from moving away from her.

Harris’ greatest asset may be her opponent.  Trump is a candidate with a lot of baggage, and those on the left are trying hard – maybe too hard – to pile on a lot more.  They are driven by an inability to imagine that Trump could possibly return to the White House – even more than their inability to imagine Trump winning in 2016. 

But it is Trump himself, who could hand the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to Harris.  He tends to be rather pugnacious and aggressive in characterizing his competition.  This would be the first time he is up against a Black female in a political correctness woke environment.

There is also the fact that since 2016, Trump — and Republicans – tend to fad rather than surge in the closing days of campaigns. If that holds true in 2024, the election will be even closer than it appears today.

At this moment, Trump holds the lead.  Most observers on both sides see him as a BIG winner if the trajectory does not change.  That is the entire reason for replacing Biden with Harris.  It was a strategy born of desperation – better to crash the car into the wall than go over the washed out bridge.

Once the forced euphoria ebbs – as it most certainly will – we will get a better understanding of how the presidential race is advancing.  It all comes down to whether voters will hate Trump (the Democrat strategy) more than they are concerned about other issues – such as inflation, immigration, crime, foreign policy – (the Republican strategy).

One thing can be said for sure … it will be interesting.

    Most of your piece is conjecture based on old polling data, which is quite useless at this point. I will focus on your summary statement:

    “It all comes down to whether voters will hate Trump (the Democrat strategy) more than they are concerned about other issues – such as inflation, immigration, crime, foreign policy – (the Republican strategy).”

    – First of all, Democrats don’t hate felon Trump. They think he’s dangerous and deranged. Pity would be one correct term, another is fear of what he would do to the country. Trump is a liar, cheater, fraud, thief, rapist. He was not qualified to be President, and has gotten worse. A large chunk of money he raises for his campaign go into his pocket. He uses Hitler-like rhetoric to divide the country for his own benefit. He cheated (34 felonies) to get elected, and tried to stage a violent coup (and don’t forget creating fake slates of electors) to steal a second election. All those issues are fair game for Democrats.

    – Inflation has been tagged to Biden, but it was felon Trump’s tax cuts for the rich that caused it. But ultimately, Fed policy has brought inflation down, on Biden’s watch whether you believe Biden had something to do with it or not. For Democrats, they will play up the larger issue of the entire economy – Felon Trump left office with 8+% unemployment, after inheriting a 4-year trend of 3-4% unemployment from Obama. The economy was close to or in recession at the end of Felon Trump’s term. There were shortages of items on the grocery shelves. Felon Trump promised for his entire term to have an infrastructure bill “in the next two weeks”.

    – Immigration – Felon Trump never did anything about it while he was President, except to claim that Mexico would pay for his wall, which had more holes than Swiss cheese. His policies were brutal, he separated children from their parents, but never improved immigration or reduced illegal border crossings. When the bipartisan immigration bill was ready to be passed by the Senate, he publicly killed it so he could run on the issue. That’s not a positive for him. Since then, Biden enacted the parts of the immigration bill that he could do on his own, and has cut immigration by half.

    – Crime: Felon Trump says it’s up, but that’s an outright lie. The trend has been that crime has been going down (Felon Trump’s own personal crime wave notwithstanding). There was a bump up during Felon Trump’s admin, but other than that, crime is at the lowest levels since the Reagan administration. Just from 2022 to 2023, crime rates in 200 cities dropped by 12%. Polls show most Americans THINK that crime is up (effective Republican propaganda), but the numbers are on Democrat’s side, and Harris, being a former prosecutor, can refute Republican claims. Every time that Republicans claim that crime is up, Dems should tell the real numbers, then use that opportunity to point out Felon Trump’s many crimes.

    – Foreign policy – Felon Trump was a laughingstock to other world leaders. His Chinese tariffs were disruptive and did nothing except raise prices for US consumers. He tried to blackmail Ukraine, by withholding aid to a country fighting an illegal invasion by Russia. He openly praised Putin and other leaders of Communist dictatorships. He weakened NATO and threatened to pull the US out and/or violate terms of the treaty. Biden has applied his steady hand yo foreign policy and NATO, and increased cooperation between the US and other countries. Harris can inherit a positive policy from Biden, and can possibly call for more accountability for Israel’s mass murder of Palestinians, something Biden has been reluctant to do. Felon Trump has been a close ally of Felon Netanyahu, and could be vulnerable for that as well.

    – Everything else: Abortion rights. Stacking the Supreme Court with lying right-wing extremists. Botched handling of COVID. Stoking fear and hatred of immigrants. Using Hitler-like language. Staging a coup. Stochastic violence. The open corruption (Jared’s $2B Saudi deal as soon as Felon Trump left office, receiving foreign money through his hotel In Washington, nepotism, keeping control of his business while President, two impeachments, multiple indictments, felony convictions). Felon Trump’s history of lying. His well documented history of saying stupid, hateful, racist, misogynistic, homophobic, anti-semitic, pro-Nazi, and in general some very odd things. Felon Trump could also go to prison before the election, even though he’s managed to delay so far. He’s now the old and feeble candidate. Democrats have lots of ammo besides the core issues you listed.

    I think the Democratic strategy is to hit felon Trump with everything. There is no issue where Trump looks even moderately good, much less better than Harris. He’s coasting along on the backs of his cult following and a handful of billionaires that expect him to cut their taxes again. If Democrats can get the message out (and they have been outraising Trump, even with Leon Skum’s $45M per month donation promise, and Trump puts a large chunk of donations directly in his own pocket.) The Dems’ bickering and infighting has ended, and for once, Democrats are united. As Elmer Fudd always said, “be vewy afwaid.”

It’s just that I’m good at profiling and I perceive that Joseph very likely would commit violence. And I perceive that he doesn’t like y. The lime part was an attempt at humor. So don’t overestimate yourself. You’re not as popular. But if needed, the authorities would do a better job protecting your dumb ass than they did trump

It’s PBP, how could any liberal be popular here? And I dunno, Trump seemed pretty OK, or at least as OK at this old, senile, demented, rapist felon could be.

          Larry, this piece covered briefly a more complex situation than you attempted explaining. But, we e are in early days here with time remaining. You will catch up.
          This commentary is a change for you. Bullying Biden has been a good long run that stopped too quickly. Biden last Sunday took you off your game plan.
          On the bright side, in my case. Is your forced cessation of dark inventions fabricated in Biden’s honor. Negativity coming from posts with Larry Horist the author has been expected. Maybe change will lighten up and allow humanity some space.
          Political commentary does not demand fighting down a dirty as Biden received from you. Going after a woman contender and twenty years younger may see you clean up your act as the finale comes closer.
          Reality is a hard taskmaster, the truth is not seen
          on some bandwagon.

    JSB: nice piece, very factual. I do hate Trump, but started with his exploits in NJ. He is a bad person and has hurt many. Also, no — Trump may have promoted inflation, but Joe topped it off and it was on his watch with Trump as A cause, not THE cause. Immigration is on both parties and most can be fixed just by implementing E-Verify or equivalent as the law of the land. The Bill has been in Congress for years. Enjoyed the piece and agree that the Felon Rapist King should be noted as that every time he is addressed. OK, on to the show….

    As I read this, I noted some agreement but also some very weird statements. The weirdness stems from hopefully accidental forays into sexism and worse. It may just be a generational thing, but still, you don’t need to be woke to avoid these really bad jokes. I will cover the weirdness next passage.

    From my vantage point, Harris is not being nominated by the people, but instead by Joe and the Party. Yes, we seem very happy, very positive, very woke and for the third and last time I will say that ole McGovern feeling is in the back of my mind. I couldn’t vote, but Vietnam was basically over, we had won, it seems the 70’s was to be peace, love, Woodstock, and McGovern would lead us there, he beat the moderate ex-vp for the nomination and we were on our way.

    We had the new 18-20 yr old vote, how could we lose?

    We lost in a landslide. We didn’t turn up. Off to the communes!

    We will see what happens when Republicans get what they asked for. But she’s anointed not elected, she is black, a woman, and we still have our rednecks too. She’s left of moderate, right of progressive, but leans that way. We are a centrist nation being driven to extremes through the hateful rhetoric of partisan politics. Both sides. And she’s green, very green, so green, to take the toughest job on Earth. People shoot at you just for being there. You are hung in effigy — world-wide. It’s a hard job. Somebody hates you for anything you do.
    Only war brings us together, and then, not for long. Her record in government beyond being a prosecutor, is short. The party loves her today. The party can turn in an instant. Ask Joe.

    One other thing. Biden thought about quitting well before the debate. Had to. The decision was made moments before he made the decision. Had to. Guy was holding on by the skin of his teeth, and not letting go. And yes, he will be sad. And it’s 110% his fault. He said, one and done. That was the deal. That was the promise. Then he decided only he could do the job. He did not mentor. He did not name a successor part-way in to pave the way. He is old. He was told he looks and acts old. He could have gone out like Washington in a blaze of historical glory ever remembered as a man who gave up the throne for country not personality, not power. Instead, he chose the return path to power with a much higher risk, for a job that ages the toughest of men. Biden got burned in that decision, burned himself, and now he will be remembered, but never alongside Washington. Just as the man who quit late in the campaign handing the reigns to the un-primaried. So sad. And he knows it now. Like Bush Sr, Nixon, let’s let him go in honor of his service, in peace, and I am pretty sure that’s that.

    Joseph S Bruder … Thanks for the correction on you bio. I was (mis)judging you from you past writings. My bad.

    You show an abysmal ignorance of both facts and economics. As I have written several times in the past. Trump’s final Covid payment was moderately inflationary, but the inflation was skyrocketed by Biden’s HUGE spending — as was predicted.

    Of course, unemployment ran high in 2020, we were just coming out of the Pandemic. Ignoring that fact simply dishonest — the sin of omission.

    In terms of immigration, you are just lying. Trump started on the wall … negotiated a stay-in-Mexico deal. If Trump did nothing, what were the 80 executive orders re the border that Biden reversed. Trump cut border crossing and the numbers prove that. So what has Biden done?

    Crime has been coming down from record highs. But crime is a serious issues in segregated communities and the open borders are adding to the crime and drug problems. That is a fact.

    Again misinformation… lies. Trump never weakened NATO. He strengthened it with more members and more money. He negotiated the Abraham Accords. There were not new wars under Trump. He imposed several sanction on Russia. He negotiated a much better (for US) Mexico/Canada trade agreement. He negotiate that stay in Mexico agreements. He sent weapons to Ukraine — which Obama refused.

    Like it or not, Trump and the GOP did what any President would do. When given the opportunity, they appoint justices compatible with their beliefs. And you can thank old Harry Reid for making it easier. Why you left-wingers think only liberal judges belong on the court is beyond me. You are the prefect example of progressive elitism.

    Currently Harris is basking in the glory of newness and an overly fawning news media. We will have to see if it lasts.

    Your Elmer Fudd quote was particular apt since that is the intellectual level you seem to operate at.

    I do have some issues with a few Horist-isms. I am not judging but……really Horist? What were you thinking when you said: “Harris has the support of the lion’s (or the lioness’) share of the delegates.” I know you felt you were being cute, but this idiom is misplaced and can be construed as sexist. First, is it lion as in lion-kind, the lion-hood, or is it lion as in male lion which you wonder should be replaced by lioness or at least call it to question. Why is gender important or funny? Are you making this joke because she is not a man? Because she is a woman? Or are you even questioning that……

    Questioning minds had to know so we went to the source: Aesop. In his fable where the idiom comes from, it is most certainly a lion, and a lion’s share. Totally male and full of testosterone. And it could never be a lioness because it’s a male share, not a female share. The share size and share owner are the entire point of the fable that results in the moral: might makes right or perhaps the version potentially contemplated here: white male might makes right…… I am sure Horist was kidding, was not overtly being sexist or even remotely racist, but that’s where the idiom comes from and that’s what it means. Might makes right. Males rule the jungle.

    “That scale was somewhat balanced by Biden’s issues.” Oh come on. When are allegations and relative’s actions equal to or “somewhat balanced” with criminal conduct of a man convicted on 34 felony counts, liable for sexual abuse of the digital rape variety, liable for defamation, his personal business has racked up many felonies, a man who paid off on his university fraud, paid off and shuttered his piggybank charity foundation, and more…. Somewhat balanced….similar….come on, be serious. Biden may have walked into a shower, doubtful, or touched someone but Trump got her alone, slammed her against the wall, pinned her, pulled up her skirt, pulled down her tights, went inside her panties, then inside her with his fingers copping a forced feel. Biden is alleged. Trump is adjudicated as doing that. And when made President, we accept that from the highest office in the land. No scales are balanced in that.

    You can put your documents defense in the same bucket — not even a distant similarity

You have no support for your theory that blacks don’t like mixed marriages. Bring back the watermelon already. She accentuates her “Indianness” because she talks about her mother? So when I say Mom, you think Slovakian? How is her “Indianess” relevant unless race is a priority for you?

    “She may be too woken for the American voter.” “Too woken,” can you even say that? Oh well. Woke, DEI, BLM, PC, whatever you brand us with, at the core it just means: all humans created equal, do unto others, and be polite. You can argue that woke advocates go to far, but the core concept is the definition of the American way. Period. People should stick to issues and actions, leave the race and gender issues you have at the door, please.

    There’s some weird ju-ju in here. Strange ways to turn a phrase, make a point, and demean someone based on race and gender in the shadows.

    Kamala Harris was born in Oakland, California, on 20 October 1964.Kamala Harris

    Harris’s mother is Tamil Indian; she emigrated from Chennai in India in 1960. Her name is Shyamala Gopalan Harris and she was born in 1938. She was also a well-known researcher for breast cancer. She died in 2009.

    Kamala’s father, Donald Harris, is a retired Stanford University economics professor whose biography affirms that he arrived in the U.S. in 1961 as an “Issa Scholar” from Jamaica. It adds that he was born in Jamaica and naturalized in the U.S. but the date is unknown.

    Neither parent reportedly was present in the U.S. as a legal resident for five years prior to Harris’s birth, a requirement before her parents can apply for naturalization making Kamela Harris a 14th Amendment Citizen.

    Prior to the 14th Amendment, this is the rule of law:

    The Supreme Court in Inglis v. Trustees (1830) and Elk v. Wilkins (1884) ruled that a child born on U.S. soil, of a father who owes allegiance to a sovereignty other than the United States, is not a U.S. citizen at birth; and that the citizenship of such a child is that of its father, not its place of birth.

    Kamala Harris would have been classified as a foreigner in 1830 and 1884, how can she now be a Natural Born Citizen in 2020?

    ‘Natural-Born Citizen’ as defined by the very person responsible for the writing of the 14th Amendment, and without a single doubt, knew all about the definitions of the various types of US citizenship, Ohio Representative John Bingham requires 3 things: that you are born within the jurisdiction of the United States, that BOTH parents are citizens of the U.S. either by naturalization OR by being natural born themselves AND that both parents must NOT owe ANY allegiance to ANY FOREIGN country.

    She is a native born 14th Amendment US citizen by an act of Congress following the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952. The same laws that were in place when she was born is still in place today.

    Text of the 14th Amendment
    Section 1.
    All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

    Nowhere in the 14th does it make one a Natural Born Citizen.

    Section 5.
    The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

    This provides the documentation making Harris a 14th Amendment US citizen by an act of Congress.

    All of the above means she is not eligible to be President.

    As per the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 clearly states one has to be a resident on file for a 5 year waiting period before obtaining Naturalization status.

    SEC. 316. [8 U.S.C. 1427]
    (a) No person, except as otherwise provided in this title, shall be naturalized, unless such applicant, (1) immediately preceding the date of filing his application for naturalization has resided continuously, after being lawfully admitted for permanent residence, within the United States for at least five years and during the five years immediately preceding the date of filing his application has been physically present therein for periods totaling at least half of that time, and who has resided within the State or within the district of the Service in the United States in which the applicant filed the application for at least three months, (2) has resided continuously within the United States from the date of the application up to the time of admission to citizenship, (3) during all the periods referred to in this subsection has been and still is a person of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the United States.

    A 1962 guideline explained procedures under the Act:
    The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 requires an alien to apply for a petition for naturalization. Before applying, an alien must be at least 18 years old and must have been lawfully admitted to live permanently in the United States. He must have lived in the United States for five years and for the last six months in the state where he seeks to be naturalized. He must be of good moral character and “attached to the principles of the Constitution”. The law states that an alien is not of good moral character if he is a drunkard, has committed adultery, has more than one wife, makes his living by gambling, has lied to the Immigration and Naturalization Service, has been in jail more than 180 days for any reason during his five years in the United States, or is a convicted murderer.

    So it’s evident Harris’s parents weren’t U.S. citizens at the time of her birth. Thus she is ineligible to the offices of president and vice-president.

    For both, the Constitution says one must be a “natural born citizen” of the United States, a deliberately higher standard than simple citizenship.

    As stated in Minor vs. Happersett, by Bingham, Ramsey and in Vattel, to be a natural born citizen one needs to be born on US soil to TWO US CITIZEN PARENTS.

    Remember, if it akes an act of Congress as the 14th clearly is, for one to be a citizen, then they are a naturalized citizen.

    And in Luria v. United States, 231 U.S. 9 (1913), the Supreme Court said:“Citizenship is membership in a political society, and implies a duty of allegiance on the part of the member and a duty of protection on the part of the society. These are reciprocal obligations, one being a compensation for the other. Under our Constitution, a naturalized citizen stands on an equal footing with the native citizen in all respects save that of eligibility to the Presidency. Minor v. Happersett, 21 Wall. 162, 88 U. S. 165; Elk v. Wilkins, 112 U. S. 94, 112 U. S. 101; Osborn v. Bank of United States, 9 Wheat. 738, 22 U. S. 827.”

    John Armor Bingham on what a natural born citizen is:
    John Bingham, aka “father of the 14th Amendment”, was an abolitionist congressman from Ohio who prosecuted Lincoln’s assassins. Ten years earlier, he stated on the House floor: “All from other lands, who by the terms of [congressional] laws and a compliance with their provisions become naturalized, are adopted citizens of the United States; all other persons born within the Republic, of parents owing allegiance to no other sovereignty, are natural born citizens. Gentleman can find no exception to this statement touching natural-born citizens except what is said in the Constitution relating to Indians.” (Cong. Globe, 37th, 2nd Sess., 1639 (1862))
    In Zimmer v. Acheson which was decided in the US Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit demonstrates that statutory citizenship is, in fact, a form of “naturalized” citizenship.

    IF Harris is ineligible to run for President then she is ineligible to be Vice President meaning Republicans and others are stupid as shit and powerless to do anything if they can’t get this done.

    Why hasn’t Trump done anything? He had four years and I would have to imagine would relish the opportunity to derail either Joe or Kamala. I think he has enough money to go to court and seems to know his way around the judicial system. Whatttya waiting for? I mean he took the voting lie to over 65 courts —— what’s a little Kamala action on top?

Trump, on the other hand, keeps lots of top secret documents strewed around his house, is married to a gold digger that was raised in a communist country, has communist–party-member parents, one of whom lives in Trump’s cabana with full access to the entire house full of top secret documents. Trump does not care, he even shows top secrets to Russians in the oval office while claiming he magically declassified what he showed even though there is zero paperwork to prove that he did.     Darren, we decriminalized in NJ, the days of the dealer are over and it’s the day of the dispensary. They are everywhere and people are lining up. After 50 years in hiding, it’s a wonderful thing to see. I just wish we could free all the folks arrested for it, just it and not violent crimes, and let them be productive, peaceful citizens again.

    So far, Hunter has been clean and I think you should respect his choices towards recovery and give him his second chance. Or are you that hell bent for leather for some sort of revenge for a lame duck President’s son.
