Inconsequential Mike Pence Drops Out After Dismal Campaign
Never posing any real threat to front-runner Donald Trump, and inconsequential Mike Pence has dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, never achieving more than a dismal one or two percent in the polls.
“I came here to say it’s become clear to me this is not my time,” Pence said in his surprise announcement at the annual Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) convention this past Saturday.
“So, after much prayer and deliberation, I have decided to suspend my campaign for president effective today.”
The former vice president did not endorse any of the other candidates for the 2024 GOP nomination. However, his former boss, Donald Trump, asked for his former VP’s endorsement.
The former vice president launched his 2024 campaign in early June. While he spent plenty of time over the summer and into the autumn on the campaign trail in the crucial early-voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, his White House bid never took off.
Pence stood in the mid to low single digits in the latest surveys, and his fundraising was meager. The former vice president struggled — but ultimately succeeded to reach the polling and donor thresholds to qualify for the first two Republican presidential nomination debates. But as of Saturday, he still remained short of hitting the criteria to make the stage at next month’s third debate, which no doubt influenced his decision to throw in the towel.
Given his resume and ties to the popular President Trump, the fact that Pence’s campaign tanked so miserably just shows how powerful Trump’s influence on the MAGA base remains. Trump basically excised Pence like a tumor from any relationship to Trump’s successful presidency for his VP’s action in certifying the 2020 election.
After spending four years as Trump’s loyal defender, Pence was suddenly cast as a traitor, targeted by rioters who stormed the Capitol, some chanting “Hang Mike Pence!” Angry Trump supporters crossed his name off their “Trump-Pence” yard signs or shoved them deep into the ground to literally bury his name in the dirt.
After announcing his withdrawal, Pence told the crowd, to applause and cheers, that “I say this is not my time, but it’s still your time. I urge you to hold fast to what matters: faith, family, and the Constitution of the United States of America. I’m proud that our campaign stood firm on America’s role as leader of the free world.”
Trump – who spoke about 25 minutes after Pence at the same conference – made no reference to the news of his former running mate’s departure from the 2024 race.
Hours later, however, at a campaign event in Las Vegas, Trump said Pence “should endorse me. You know why? Because I had a great, successful presidency, and he was the vice president.”
But he added that “people in politics can be very disloyal.”
I liked him personally. Smart move dropping out. Now he can truthfully without spin criticize Trump without looking like he’s only doing it to get votes. As for Trump, after all that Trump did to trash Pence and then saying (or asking in a declarative way) that Pence should support him just shows you 1) How two-faced Trump is; 2) How poor and desperate Trump’s judgement is that he would trash someone so bad then turn around and recommend their support!
I wish Mike well. I hope who ever gets elected they find him a good position in government. He is more honest than many! He might make a great secretary of defense or some other important position. It should be interesting to watch where he goes from here!

This article is not about Biden. Dan, read the title, its about Pence. That is why I did not give my opinion on Biden. Now if you belong to the party who purports to be the “rule of law” party, learn to follow rules by reading titles and following directions. What I said about Trump was in connection to Pence and was noted in the article.

I personally believe anyone that commits a crime should be prosecuted.
Plea bargains lower incarceration rates, taxpayer dollars to do court stuff, etc. They have a valid place in our legal system and when they bag you, you may rethink that…….
In this case, it was a possible 6 months, but maybe more if public at risk.
If we put all alarm pullers in jail, my poor high school would lose a lot of students who after being sodomized would become career criminals killing you in your sleep for a few dollars.
There’s tradeoffs in all this….
That said, IMO, give him a night in jail. Let him taste the flavor, good experience for a Congressman.
But real takeaway: FOLKS —- they be cameras everywhere. When you get caught, think about that before you start cooking up your story. Although I really liked the “just trying to get more time to read the bill before I vote the bill.” That’s got a historical ring to it :>)
Ya know, I wanna get in the row boat with you but think about it. How would Cheney, Romney, even McConnell have handled it. Probably stood up well before 1.6.2021 and certainly wouldn’t have balked like Pence after he, his family, all threatened
Nope, glad he stood up when he did, but he should have been sooner and with a bit more spine.
And he never should have entered the race. He didn’t stand a chance. Good chance his national career is iver.
Yes Frank, he was late, agreed. And it may have been all about his book. I dunno. But at least he arrived. I really was speaking about all of the crap he took from Trump for four years! I would have resigned after six months. Yes, I agree. He should not have entered the race. He always says he will pray on it first, and he said this early as his answer to questions regarding will he enter the race. Now he’s saying he prayed on it again, this time to answer should he exit. From what I know about God, read any scripture, its always the same that if God wants it done, God will equip you, tell you positively which is called conviction, and you will have success. It makes me wonder what God he was listening to the first time?
I am not sure what moves Pence but it’s not always God.

Remember, hearing the phrase he will pivot or later, he will rise to be Presidential. I’m from NJ and I knew. We grew up around Mafiosa and that special management style.
