Democrats are panicking over Hunter Biden

Democrats are panicking over Hunter Biden

The latest political narrative being advanced by Democrats and the left-leaning media is all about investigations.  They are against them.

Not the politically driven investigations they were conducting over the past six years.  Not arguably the most bogus investigation in American history – referring to the 2-year Russian conspiracy theory investigation that proved the media-driven propaganda in the court-of-public-opinion was totally wrong.  Not the one-sided kangaroo court-style investigation into the Capitol Hill riot.

There were those two politically driven impeachment investigations that resulted in President Trump’s acquittal.  Democrats claim that the acquittals were the results of partisan politics.  An ironic claim in view of the fact that the impeachment hearings were, themselves, partisan shams.

House Democrats are currently conducting several investigations into Trump – the Capitol Hill riot … the White House document … and his taxes.  These are nothing more than political investigations since Congress has no power to indict or adjudicate any charges — and there are real law enforcement agencies already investigating each of these issues.

What makes the rash of Democrat investigations so unprecedented is the partisan political motivation.  In the past, Congress would investigate activities of the Mafia … crooked defense contractors … enemy espionage … unsafe products … but not full-scale investigations of political adversaries.

Democrats have abused the powers of investigation – with the collaboration of the media – to malign the entire Republican brand as a threat to democracy.  Unfortunately, the cynical strategy had its impact on the 2022 Midterm Election.

(As you read on, keep the word “hypocrisy” in mind.)

Now that the Republicans will be in control of the House, Democrats and their media cronies have reversed polarities.    They are against congressional investigations.  They are accusing the incoming GOP leadership of having no legislative agenda and myopically preoccupied with … investigations.

Of course, the Republican Party has a very specific agenda of programs they would like to enact – secure borders … anti-crime measures … school choice … opposition to a wide range of “woke” craziness.   However, with Democrats holding the Senate and the White House, there is little to no chance of enacting the Republican agenda.

Conversely, Democrats will not be able to enact their radical left-wing agenda.  At best, there may be some bipartisan legislation that can get through the process.  Overall, it is probably a good thing to curb the Democratic agenda.

That leaves a lot of time for investigations.  Contrary to the clamor on the left – and the faux indignation over the very thought of Republicans investigating anything about Democrats – there is a lot of fodder for the investigatory mills.  The Democrats objections to future investigations is just an attempt to undermine their credibility in advance.

There are a number of legitimate issues to be explored by House committees on behalf of the American people.  There is the issue of the border.  Biden & Co. have much ‘splaining to do on that one.  Then there are the questions as to why and how Biden orchestrated the disastrous surrender in Afghanistan.

But the one investigation that has Biden and the Democrats in a state of apoplexy is the Hunter Biden Case – and that may be a misnomer.  The Biden Family Case may be a more apt title.

This is a case where there are sooooo many questions– and so much smoke – that there must be a fire.

Hunter Biden is already in legal trouble over his taxes – and possibly his failure to register as a foreign agent.  But those are small potatoes when you consider these FACTS.

  • He had no work job for $80,000 per month with a corrupt Ukraine energy company.
  • He received millions of dollars from Russian interests.
  • He received millions of dollars form Chinese interests.

Was all that “influence peddling?”  In view of the meeting Hunter arranged with his father — and other senior Washington officials – it is a very real possibility.

And then there is the potential involvement of President Biden – the “Big Guy,” as he was referred to in various communications suggesting that he was in on the take.  In view of all the meetings the Big Guy had with Hunter’s business partners, we know that Old Joe flat-out lied when he repeatedly assured the American people that he was totally uninvolved – clueless – of Hunter’s and brother Frank Biden’s activities.

Oh … and what about the laptop?

You know, the one that the White House said was Russian disinformation … the FBI refused to investigate … and media reports on the laptop were banned from social media as fake news.  That is until, the truth could no longer be denied, and Fourth Estate institutions, such as the New York Times and CBS, belatedly reported that the laptop was legit – and all that damning information was accurate.  Not Russian disinformation.

As part of the left-wing media hypocrisy, we can anticipate that they will attack the investigators and shield the investigated.  The Hunter Biden Case may be too big and too crooked to sweep under the carpet in the Oval Office.

So, there ‘tis.

I agree with your statement, “The Hunter Biden Case may be too big and too crooked to sweep under the carpet in the Oval Office.”. From an Independent/Unaffiliated point of view, I think the GOP would be wise not to get to “investigation happy”. The GOP must pick their battles wisely. Definitely they should balance investigations with getting something positive done for we the people. Perhaps investigate the border and immigration free-for-all, and get passed a Republican revised DACA bill which I have stated in previous blogs seems to be hung up on the issue of “Chain Migration” – otherwise it looks pretty decent to me. Perhaps investigate government collusion with Big Tech and News Media and provide balance with guidelines and laws to ensure freedom of speech and equity /fairness in coverage. Perhaps investigate the Biden family issues while balancing with new or revised robust anti-corruption laws, and, revising the student loan system that piles on interest debt that seems to be unfair. GOP will not survive Independents in 2024 if all they do is investigate. We need to see positives. Seek out the moderate democrats and those worried about their seats in 2024 and find a way to partner with them to move the country forward on hot button issues – but this will require the GOP to be broad minded enough to give the Biden administration some credit. Be warned that we are already aware of the GOP use of investigations as a means to stall any good work out of the current administration while trying to gain talking points for election bashing. And do come up with an alternative to Trump if they can. Do strengthen NATO alliances. Do support the war in Ukraine but investigate any misuse of funds. Do repeal some energy regulations and make us as close to energy independent as we can in two years. Make positives!

  2. Frank stetson

Well, that was fair and balanced. NOT. Same political hack job he castigates his enemy for. Sure sounds like you got a heap of revenge in mind; seem to strut it out as some sprt of rationale.

I say investigate anything and everything you find cause. Spend all your resources. Especially since you admit you can’t get anything real done. Scream Benghazi at the top of your lungs and sally forth like that little adventure.

I am a Democrat and I am all for you investigating Hunter based on a drive Rudy has….it’s a slam dunk. And yes, go after Frank too. Who the hell i Frank? How about Beau? And his payments so we can see you know how to add. I just love it that you will open the doors on going after the Presidents kids. It’s a meal best served cold. I never trusted that Barron, reminds me of The Omen. What’s up with that?

And be sure to cover what you call the disaster in Afghanistan where 14 died in a tragic attack on the eve of our departure. Can’t wait till you define this Trump initiated disaster.

Investigate away, I am all for it. You got two years before you are deposed for doing nothing but making Pelosi look good. See you in 2024.

You got an agenda that’s short on legislation, long on obstruction and investigation. Go for it.

    • Sam

      Lock him up!!!!!!!

      • Joseph S. Bruder

Yes, I agree… Trump needs to be indicted and locked up. And lock up his evil spawn while they’re at it. The investigation is still ongoing, but there are plenty of indictable offenses.

  3. AC

    Larry
Why, Hunter Biden in Republican crosshairs is tempest in a teacup compared the Trump family with how much Ivanka, Jared, Junior profited from their father’s position. They, too, continued Trump business as usual here and internationally. They, also, used private email accounts for Executive Branch official business. No investigations of the Trump children or shouts of “lock them up”.
Twitter’s leaked info making so much in misinformation channels actually proved unlawful, although it did show poor behavior and bad judgement. If Trump thinks the US Constitution’s dismantling is justified and worth the unimaginable price that would entail for his faulty perceptions, he is beyond desperate and full on deranged.
Options made commentary are more or less one’s allegations of another’s faults with projected causation. This as a prosecution lawyer would lay out any case . .It’s entirety spent detailing in accusations pointed and language damning. And, predicated on the commentators judgement that the accused is dead to rights, guilty on each account.
As commentators and prosecutors go the former need only allege certain facts are so, given however much authority being assumed. The prosecutor wins or looses the case by a jury’s vote.
The accused has the right of defending themselves from under the prosecution’s allegations. To that end, justice demands the accused be given an able defense attorney.
No such justice exists in media. It’s up to the jury of public opinion in open court.
People. readers of commentary and jury at large, vote, good or uninformed with their own opinion. Then, media sources bent to one or another persuasion will attract followers, generally of like mind with that source’s content.
However, opinions being as they are do at times collide. And, PBP commentators find this as reality. Expected should the contrary options coming. It is the 1st Amendment speaking in all its beauty. No matter the space and pulpit in media no one may insist on immunity from another view and its points inserted
Is this democracy, that we are free to have our own opinion perspective and to give it our voice. One’s demand for others that their view concur in concert surely smacks of autocracy.
One’s privately owned enterprise’ culture may be run in such away. In community and public relations with others, our news is filled to over flowing by stories that in someone(s)
view someone else’s worth was less. What difference is that to inter reply condescension by PBP readers population.
Commentary expression on an opinion is information given. Readers’ choice as to the message’s value, all other choices in comparison. Yet, readers should understand the opinion of one is rarely altered with whatever may be thrown at it. ‘Tis fruitless an effort as ever.

  4. Bibfy

Yeah, the leader of the Republican party says toss the Constitution, in writing, and Larry thinks the priority focus should include Frank Biden……

Given the leader of the a Republican Party, the only announced Republican candidate for the 2024 nomination, a past leader of the free world, wrote that we should toss our Constitution and reinstall him as Head Bitch in charge, yeah…..let’s get into Hunter’s shorts.

    It’s all good.

Maybe you should use your rearview while driving this pos story.

  5. Rick

The democrats are not worried one bit. They know that one of two things is true. One – They have gotten so good a cheating and the repubs cant or don’t want to figure out how they do it because they are two wings of the same bird, or Two – The demonocrats know that the people are dumber than a box of rocks and all they have to do is lie to them. They have perfected lying and cheating and they see that it is good and it serves them well. Anyway – What is going on is way bigger than who the cheating lying politicians playing the parts are. It is all for show. Meanwhile, our country is being systematically brought down and the population is being reduced just like bill the computer operating system creator turned famous doctor said. If we do a really good job with vaccines, we can lower the population by 10 to 15 percent.

    • Joseph S. Bruder

Or choice number 3 – Democrats and a majority of the population know that this is a political witchhunt and nothing will come of it. Democrats are not worried in the least because there is no substance to the allegations, whatever they may be – all I’ve heard about the matter is “what about Hunter Biden’s laptop?”, which is not an accusation of wrongdoing, regardless of whether the laptop is geniuine or not (hint – not).

      • larry Horist

Joseph S Bruder … You seem to be the last person in America questioning the legitimacy of the Biden laptop and its contents. Even the left-wing media has come around. Where you getting your information … or you just making it up?

  6. Bibfy

Check sum:.Rick the dick thinks all of America is dumber than a box of rocks, and that 50% of America, are low-birth, lying cheaters.

To back this up he uses a totally discredited Bill Gates quote never said. That was taken out of context about population control and mentions absolutely nothing about vaccines in regard to population control. Not to mention it was from over a decade ago in 2010 so I’m pretty sure that this never happened the way Rick expected to happen. They were population continues to grow..

In other words, Rick appears to be a very delusional bitter man who believes fake internet mash ups. A dumb dick

    • Rick

You are a foul mouthed liberal, liberal. Close to 50 percent of the people are ignorant, and that apparently includes you. I’m sure you just rushed out to take more poison in the latest greatest new booster. There is no help for someone as brainwashed and gullible as you liberal. You will go to your grave in that sad condition. And, I owe the box of rocks an apology because it is certainly smarter than you. It is the vaccinated that are in the hospitals and dying, and that is the truth liberal no mater how much you wish it wasn’t.

      • Bibfy

Truly unhinged is Rick. Sorry, the demonocrap was a dick move. Didn’t mean to frost your cake, buttercup.

Show us how the vaccinated are dying more than the unvaccinated?

Do they die? Yes. Everyone can die and since 1m are gone, largely unvaccinated, the far smaller number of vaccinated deaths stick out now. But the level if death is far less and the unvaxed face a much higher risk. Just science and stats.

The cdc says the risk levels for severe outcome are, starting low to high

        Natural immunity
        Boosted
        Full vax
        Partial vax
        Unvax

Because of this. Higher deaths in red states. Higher deaths in Republicans.

        Do you want the stats?

  7. AC

    Larry,
You wrote, “hypocrisy, remember that word”.
Here’s another for your memory, “projection”.
Like on the big screen projection bigger than life is a picture of the hypocrite who wants the Democrats held accountable when the GOP ducks taking responsibility when it reeks of guilt.
The Big Lie not shouted down and Trump made to concede. January 6 identified for what it is and the Investigation Committee finds came from Republican witness testimony. Mueller’s investigation findings Barr mistranslated for politics, Mueller uncovered at least 10 areas that could have been and should have been investigated. Why that did not transpire is democrats letting the right off the hook.
Trump’s involvement with oath breaking unconstitutional behavior has been epic. How he came through and finished out his term has all to do with Trump demand for loyalty or suffer fear mongering.
That were the hypocritical screw turns. Fear drummed up by Trump making examples out of appointees in his inner circle put a chill into Republican spines paralyzing leadership’s will.
How many Republican leaders both Houses said one thing on January 7 after the “insurrection” 24 hours before and within 48 hours flipped back eating all their word said on the House floor and recorded for posterity. The Republicans in the House chambers witnessed a B&E of the people’s house. What force came and fell on their memories. so they were made to reimagine the incident.

  8. Frank stetson

Trump Co. guilty, guilty, guilty.on all counts

Trump pleads the fifth; he was right!!!

    Cohen’s revenge complete!

tax fraud, conspiracy to defraud, falsifying records, every count charged.

Trump is now convicted of being a lying, cheating, fraud of a businessman —— his long touted skill to nake himself King. The king lies. The king steals. The king cheats.

Isn’t this guy the head of the Republican party? Wow, and he’s still there. Some rearview……

  9. Joseph S. Bruder

Larry, your title starts with a lie, and you built the rest of your narrative based on that lie. There is not a single Democrat who is panicking about Hunter Biden. Democrats know that there’s nothing there and could care less about the investigation. Do you really think that anyone is going to pay attention to another Republican committee crying “wolf”? Republicans can rally around “what about Hillary’s emails” or “what about Hunter’s laptop” for the next 20 years and nobody is going to listen.

The laptop is a creation of Guiliani and has more fingerprints on it than a grade-school door handle. There’s a reason that the FBI didn’t do anything with the investigation – it was tainted with the stink of Trump cult fanatics and is an obvious fraud. This will be another Benghazi witch-hunt that ends with a committee saying “uh… nothing happened…. mumble mumble mumble … here’s a report…” Republicans will look stupid, Democrats will gloat about how stupid the Republicans look, and it will fade away.

On the other hand, you’re comparing a fake scandal manufactured to hurt President Biden to an investigation into a wide-ranging conspiracy among Trump loyalists to steal an election and Trump himself actively recruiting fake electors and calling SOS’s for favors. This was an operation run right out of the White House by Trump and his senior staff, and including top Republicans. Even as Trump maintains his “Big Lie”, you continue to defend him even as he says we should “terminate the Constitution”.

You casually toss off the phrase “the White House document” like it was only one piece of paper and wasn’t a case of Trump stealing hundreds of classified documents and thousands of unclassified documents, lying to officials about having them, and keeping them where Natasha the housekeeper could review them at her leisure. We’re talking about top secret shit that endangers national security – the kind of stuff that even one document would land the likes of you or me in jail for the rest of our lives.

And Trump’s taxes – it was clear that he was lying about it, he was hiding something, it could be related to some conflicts of interest in his dealings with the Russia or North Korea or the Saudis. And even though it’s been a several-year-long court battle to get the records, it’s a legitimate topic for Congress to investigate.

Whether Hunter Biden was worth the money he was paid is irrelevant. There’s no indication that he tried to influence the Obama administration, and no evidence that he did anything wrong. It’s not illegal to work for foriegn companies, well paid or not. Republicans can beat this dead horse all they want, it’s just “investigative masturbation”. Truthfully, I hope that the DOJ still finds time (after prosecuting Trump for his crimes) to investigate the $2 Billion dollars that went to Jared (while he was still working for the Trump administration) or the Chinese patents that went to Daddy’s girl (while she was working at the White House), or the $20M in loans to Trump from North Korea, or the loans to Trump through Russia’s favorite moneylaunderer Deutsche Bank, or the recent 1.6 Billion “licensing deal” that the Trump family just received from the Saudis. Somehow, I just don’t see those topics coming up in any Republican-led Committees – there’s your hypocrisy.

I don’t see any Democrats in a state of apoplexy. I see a collective sigh of relief that they did pretty well in this midterm elections, even if they did lose the House. They gained a seat in the Senate and took a lot of state legislatures. Republicans are setting themselves up for big losses in another two years. Like the saying goes, when your adversary is making mistakes, just sit back and let them. “Counting his chickens” McCarthy, if he does win, is promising to make a mockery of the House. If he doesn’t win, maybe the leader might be someone Democrats can work with.

    • larry Horist

Joseph S. Broder. You seem to be behind in your reading. The Washington Post, CBS and the New York times all came to the belated conclusion that the Info on the hunter lap top is legit. AND … the lap top is not the only issue that needs investigation. Hunter’s reason for getting a very lucrative job with a corrupt Ukrainian energy company — a job he had now professional resume to acquire. The only obvious reason is that he is the son of the VP — and hired to extend influence. There are still questions re the money from China and Russian. There appears to be evidence that daddy Biden lied when he said he knew nothing of his son’s business dealings. You seem to be suffocating in the smoke and still believe there is not fire.

      • Frankvstetson

Not true. They verified some emails.

Lap is Hunter’s.? What lap top ? I’m pretty sure it’s a copied and recopied hard drive passing through a number of hands. Good like with the chain of evidence.

        • larry Horist

Frank Stetson …. You are “pretty sure” — which mean you are totally clueless. And this from a guy who always wants a thesis on every opinion, even common knowledge. I am pretty sure you are winging it — left-winging to be precise.

          • Frank stetson

            Well you proved me wrong….NOT.

But since you asked…..jfgi and tell us where the original laptop and hard drive even are.

And then you can be pretty sure to, smarty pants

      • Joseph S. Bruder

Where do you get your claims that all Democrats are scared to death of the Hunter Biden laptop “scandal”? Or that I’m the only Democrat that disagrees that’s it’s a bogus scandal?

I see a lot of MSM and even more right-wing media reporting the same stories over and over – scandals make you pay attention to a story, so there’s a constant profit motive and competition going on – but none of them are showing any real evidence. That’s my evidence that there’s nothing here. If there was, real evidence would be plastered all over the internet. There are certainly personal pictures of Biden and his family that have been acquired and posted everywhere. Besides being an invasion of Biden’s privacy, nothing has shown any evidence of criminal behavior. The only real crime is that someone has managed to hack or aquire a lot of Biden’s personal data. Does that prove that the laptop (if there ever was one) or the harddrives being pass around are actually from Biden’s laptop?

This started with a laptop supposedly acquired by a Trump supporter under dubious circumstances, passed to Guiliani, then to Bannon, and then another party or two, and eventually ending up with the NY Post, little more than a right-wing rag. It appears that dozens of copies have been made. It certainly wouldn’t hold up in a court of law, so you and the rest of the right-wing media are trying it in the court of public opinion. But could certainly result in a lot of defamation cases…

        • frank stetson

not quite. It’s a blind Trump zealot. he can’t verify it was Biden who dropped it off; he’s blind and I don’t think there’s a signed receipt.

it’s a hard drive with the zealot making the first copy

everyone else is, at minimum, one or more copies away from that.

I am pretty sure no one knows where the original is. Larry says my not knowing means something….yeah, it means I can not find it…..

I am pretty sure the chain of evidence alone will severely muddy up the evidentiary veracity of all this, whatever it is.

  10. Mike F

Larry, I can not add much to all of the previous responders who pointed out the excessive BS contained in your post. Of course you missed one critical difference between democrat and republican investigations-when democrats are being investigated they do not refuse to testify nor do they plead the 5th. So at the conclusion of those investigations the public can feel relatively assured that they have the full story and there has been no obstruction of justice. Certainly not the case with the Mueller investigation or, to a somewhat lesser extent, with the Jan 6th investigation. Of course tfg was impeached twice, and should have been convicted twice, but republicans refused to act as impartial judges, so he remained in office, and continues to drag your party down. Must make a final comment about all you claim the republicans want to do-I shouldn’t have to point out that republicans held both houses of Congress from 2017-2019, plus the presidency. None of those “wants” you listed were acted upon-only a tax cut for the rich that increased the deficit and did not affect the economy one iota. So there tis, just another bullshit post from the great Karnak Larry horist….

    • larry Horist

Mike F … Actually Republicans accomplished a lot in those two years — not not everything.

    • Tom

Mike F, I am reading that Elon Musk and the Twitter Files are proving your statement very wrong. Democrats are in court to try to prevent Elon from releasing documents about the laptop story and collusion between Biden campaign, Twitter with the link between being the FBI agent who retired and was hired by Twitter to be an misinfo chief. Eight subpoenas have been issued for folks like Jen Psaki who is fighting vigorously not to have her emails and text comments released – and so are seven more in that same boat. In the Obama administration, Eric Holder, then AG, fought tooth and nail not to testify about an Obama Admin scheme gone awry called “Fast and Furious” that unintentionally released 2,000 military grade weapons into Mexican cartel hands in a failed and very hair brained scheme. And lets not forget about the Clintons and “The White Water Scandal” where some would be witnesses committed suicide in the Clinton White House to avoid testifying! The White Water Scandal was all about Clintons knowledge and participation in a drug running scheme centered in Arkansas, in a small airport, that a news reporter happened to have witnessed – and the attempt to silence her by the Clinton admin when Clinton was governor of Arkansas. Is this enough examples for you or shall I list more???

      • Joseph S. Bruder

Please cite your evidence that Dems are in court to stop release of Hunter Biden laptop info… I see no references on google… but I do see that there are antitrust lawsuits, and Musk getting sued for worngful termination, and for violating state laws regarding layoffs.

        • frank stetson

I think everyone has the contents, not sure what’s left to release…..

So far the Post and NYT have verified a number of emails.

Two outside analysts verified 22,000 of the 129K but this has not been peer reviewed.

Analysts have also found evidence of added files, again not peer reviewed.

It is thought that an original of the drive does contain “clean” data, not the emails, but not sure if one can be found this many years later.

Also, even valid emails, even emails deems valid by Burisma, may have been added to the drive at a later date and not part of the original drive contents.

It’s a quagmire, can’t wait for the investigation to get to the bottom of that.

          • larry Horist

Frank Stetson …. Then you and I agree the there are enough unanswered questions to warrant a thorough investigation. We really do not know enough to prejudge the facts — as some folks already have. The do not want the investigations. I would say that they may be panicking over the thought of it.

          • Frankvstetson

            Sure, we agree, investigate.

I must think you expect to catch Joe and I expect ti catch Republicans Gone Wild.

You will prove Hunter a cad, furners trying to buy access or better, and nothing in Joe.

More sauce for rhe 29”024 goose.

          • larry Horist

Frank Stetson. So, we agree for the need to investigate but you are already presaging the outcomes. No wonder you liked the bogus Select Committee work — and “investigation” with a predetermined outcome. Typical.

          • frank stetson

That’s really not necessary Larry, nor do you prove some sort of “presaging tendency.” Almost every story you write has “presaging,” hiding as opinion, sometimes based in facts, sometimes not.

You are right, IMO, that’s the outcome. I am estimating based on what I have seen in the verified documents, what I have heard, anecdotally from the NYP, NYT, and others, and what I expect you bozo’s to prioritize.

As I said, the first hurdle is the evidentiary trail and the evidentiary chain of control Both suck. That could take as long as the 1/6 investigation right there.

At this point, I relish the investigations because, yes, I am presaging, I believe you will just get more of what we have seen so far: quagmire. Starting with the aha moment with a blind Trumplicant zealot computer store owner puts two and two together, decides it’s been years so legally he can now look, and voila — it’s a Hunter Biden shit sandwich that will bring down Joe Biden. Yeah, the beginning of this never gets old. And then queue what is it — the FBI, SS, both… And then queue the white knight: Rudy Ghouliani to save us all by disseminating copies near and far. Yeah, Larry, what could go wrong with that. I honestly can’t wait until 2023.

You divert on one point: where is the actual laptop and original hard drive? Did Hunter get it back? There’s a good chance it does not even exist. And if it does, where has it been? Oh yeah, this will be delicious :>)

            And then Hillary

            And 2020 voter fraud

And don’t track mud on my clean kitchen floor……..

  11. Frank stetson

I disagree. There was lots of smoke on the first, Mueller indicated that the lack of testimony and the lies made it difficult, but not enough evidence to indite. He clearly said not exonerated, but not indictable. And, like you said, he noted other criminal things should be followed up on, like obstruction.

On the second, he was guilty, the Republicans put politics first, country later, and they paid dearly in 2020, 2021, and 2022 where they blew a slam dunk. And now with his looney candidacy, thirst to overturn the Constitution to be reinstalled, the guilty verdicts, and more looming—— he’s a clear and present danger to the party and the country.

Frank Stetson …. The Mueller report declared that no American — including Trump & Co. — colluded with the Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Mueller was very clear on that point. It was on obstruction of justice that Mueller punted. He listed some actions that may or may not rise to the level of obstruction, but he could not — or would not — charge anyone with obstruction. Rather, he left it to his bosses as the DOJ to make the final call. That suggests that Mueller knew he had a weak case on obstruction. The Mueller Report was then reviewed by (I believe) the Office of Professional Conduct and Attorney General William Barr — and the collective opinion was that there was insufficient evident to move forward on the obstruction charge. Under our system of law, that means Trump and others were found to be innocent of the charges — and in fact, there were no charges. Remember, a person is to be considered innocent until PROVEN guilty in a court-of-law. Your opinion is irrelevant to the legal reality. Trump is still under investigation for a lot of things — and we are yet to see how those will turnout. Obviously The Trump Organization has been found guild of fraud — and even that does not legally involve Trump. I think Trump is in a whole bunch of trouble, but that just because you hate him does not entitle your to bear false witness about the past.. I know you follow this stuff closely, so I cannot understand how you could pass along such misinformation unless you are just lying.

    • Joseph S. Bruder

Actually, Mueller never said that there was not enough evidence to indict the President. In a hearing by Democrats after Trump was unelected, when questioned:

“The reason again that you did not indict Donald Trump is because of the OLC opinion stating that you cannot indict a sitting president, correct?” Lieu had asked.

      “That is correct,” Mueller replied.

The OLC opinion was based on a single letter written by lawyers while Nixon was in office, but it has never been tested by SCOTUS.

      • larry Horist

Joseph S Bruder …. you missed the bouncing ball again. The issue of collusion was totally dismissed by Mueller. What he told Lieu was inconsistent with what he said in the Report.

        • Joseph S. Bruder

And again, you’re totally wrong. The Mueller report listed literally hundreds of instances of collusion, but could not prosecute because collusion does not have a legal definition. Mueller himself said that he did not establish “collusion” because the term is not defined well enough. What he said was he did not have sufficient evidence that the Trump campaign was directly involved in Russian crimes. Which is not surprising, since Rosenstein told Mueller not to investigate counterintelligence matters involving Trump and Russia, while telling the FBI that Mueller was already investigating those matters. If the Deputy AG of the US is directing the investigators away from a large part of the illegal activity, how can they be expected to find anything?

Rather than insulting your readers over and over, go out and read the damned report for yourself, and quit depending on Trump apologists for your opinion. Of course, that would involve some real effort on your part, since it’s 450 pages long. Most of your articles indicate that you don’t do that much research to fire off a 500-word opinion piece.

JSB; I think Mueller said there were many troubling things uncovered, but not enough to indict. Thus, based on the evidence, it appears the final judgment was appropriate. Mueller said there was a lot of smoke, including hundreds of meetings between team Trump and the Russians, well before the election, when there is very little purpose for any meeting whatsoever. Much less so important that you dedicate resources to it during an active and highly competitive come campaign. Gives one pause to consider.

And, of course, on the obstruction, he is guilty. That’s a chump change legal problem, but again, makes one pause to consider why anyone would obstruct when they are innocent. More smoke

Not that it was mentioned here, but on the second impeachment, Trump is stone cold, guilty, and the Republicans let him go. However, with Trump in the rearview… It appears that was an ill planned decision by the Republicans, now have to deal with the increasing insanity of a guy who could’ve been impeached, deserved to be impeached, and the criminal literally is on tape saying he is guilty. Their loss in our game as we watch them twist with each Trump tweet or whatever..

I think it’s doj process for the report be handed off. It’s Barr who made the decision on obstruction.

    • larry Horist

Frank Stetson. Not quite right. Mueller could have charge Trump — or others — with obstruction of justice, but he did not. He left it to the DOJ and the decision to not indict was the result of consultation among the top lawyers — with Barr following their opinions. He may have agreed with their opinions, but it is a misrepresentation to suggest Barr made the decision on his own. Do you think Garland will make decisions about Trump without consultation? Come on, man. You a long on opinions and short on understanding how things really work.

      • Frank stetson

Joe needs a search engine. I have hashed this out with you multiple times using verbatim from the report.

You are wrong, and just repeating the hard right wing rhetoric fostered by Barrs memorandum.

It’s bs but even I get worn down since joe is too cheap to have a decent website with decent tools. I tried to store this crap offline but NJ fined me for having an illegal landfill leaching toxic waste. 🙂

You are short on facts and long in the tooth.

Glad you are objective and not caustic….

        • larry Horist

Joseph S Bruder. Once AGAIN you are wrong. Here is the summary from the American Bar Association. Please not ” DID NOT find that the Trump campaign, or ANY ONE associated with it, conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in these efforts.”

“The special counsel found that Russia did interfere with the election, but “did not find that the Trump campaign, or anyone associated with it, conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in these efforts, despite multiple efforts from Russian-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign.”

As far as obstruction, the Mueller report laid out facts on both sides but did not reach a conclusion. Barr’s letter said that “the Special Counsel states that ‘while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.’”

But Barr said that he and Rosenstein “have concluded that the evidence developed during the Special Counsel’s investigation is not sufficient to establish that the President committed an obstruction-of-justice offense.”

Joe … you obviously do not recall the great consternation that went through the left-wing echo chamber when the report was released;. Mueller also did NOT declare Trump guilty of obstruction when he could have make that determination regardless whether Trump could be indicted while in office. You will recall that the Special Prosecutor in the Clinton case did make a determination of a crime even though he could not be indicted at the moment. Clinton later lost his law license for perjury. Mueller exonerated Trump of collusion by saying here was insufficient evidence. That means not guilty in the legal sense. And the DOJ agreed with Mueller is finding insufficient evident to establish obstruction in a court-of-law.

As you know, I am not a great fan of Trump, but that does not mean facts do not matter. In our system, a person is to be considered innocent until PROVEN guilty in a court-of-law — not in you mind. There was a very long expensive investigation by scores of prosecutors and mountains of testimony and data — but there were no charges … no indictments … no trial. You should know what that means.

        • larry Horist

Frank Stetson. Mueller was very clear that Trump did not collude with Russia in meddling in the 2016 election … period. The Report have some potential areas of concern re obstruction , but avoided saying it was sufficient to indict. He was obviously uncomfortable making that charge. He left it to his bosses in the DOJ — and they found insufficient evidence to proceed with an abstraction charge. You can call that political, but it is what it is. No indictment — and a presumption of innocence. If you cannot accept that reality, you are engaging in vigilantism — your opinion above the law. Misrepresenting the FACTS.

Larry, I wasn’t asleep during the trump years (though it appears you may have been). There were tax cuts passed for the rich, many judges confirmed and virtually no other legislation passed. There were a few presidential orders, but there was nothing done to benefit the average American. Nothing. So there tis…

    • Larry kuhn

      Trump did a great job

    • larry Horist

Mike F … As usual, you are woefully ill-informed … or just so biased that you cannot see truth or objectivity. First of all, I liked the judicial appointments. The wealthy got the same tax treatment as everyone else. Democrats peddling the corporate tax cuts as benefiting the rich. While i think executive compensation is outrageous, the tax cuts did not affect them as much as the did the price of goods — which was a benefit to everyone, especially the poor. I liked the creation of the Space Force … blocking former members of Congress from lobbying … getting the NATO members to increase their financial commitment (something previous presidents tried and failed). … stopping NK from missile testing … and getting the return of the remains of MIAs (something previous presidents tried and failed) … The Abraham Accords brought more peace to the Middle East than any previous administration … he made America an oil export nation … he got us out of the godawful Iran deal … and the Paris Accords that worked against US interests … he reversed Obama policy of not sending arms to Ukraine … he stopped Syria’s (Russia’s) use of chemical weapons when be bombed the facilities … he expanded school choice … and I could go on and on. But I did run across this list put out by Senator Portman list 60 pieces of legislation signed by Trump. https://www.portman.senate.gov/newsroom/portman-difference/60-portman-bills-have-been-signed-law-president-trump

You really need to get past the headlines on MSNBC, It is one thing not like Trump, but to say he accomplished almost nothing makes you a dummy or a liar. Take your choice..
