Democrats are panicking over Hunter Biden
The latest political narrative being advanced by Democrats and the left-leaning media is all about investigations. They are against them.
Not the politically driven investigations they were conducting over the past six years. Not arguably the most bogus investigation in American history – referring to the 2-year Russian conspiracy theory investigation that proved the media-driven propaganda in the court-of-public-opinion was totally wrong. Not the one-sided kangaroo court-style investigation into the Capitol Hill riot.
There were those two politically driven impeachment investigations that resulted in President Trump’s acquittal. Democrats claim that the acquittals were the results of partisan politics. An ironic claim in view of the fact that the impeachment hearings were, themselves, partisan shams.
House Democrats are currently conducting several investigations into Trump – the Capitol Hill riot … the White House document … and his taxes. These are nothing more than political investigations since Congress has no power to indict or adjudicate any charges — and there are real law enforcement agencies already investigating each of these issues.
What makes the rash of Democrat investigations so unprecedented is the partisan political motivation. In the past, Congress would investigate activities of the Mafia … crooked defense contractors … enemy espionage … unsafe products … but not full-scale investigations of political adversaries.
Democrats have abused the powers of investigation – with the collaboration of the media – to malign the entire Republican brand as a threat to democracy. Unfortunately, the cynical strategy had its impact on the 2022 Midterm Election.

Now that the Republicans will be in control of the House, Democrats and their media cronies have reversed polarities. They are against congressional investigations. They are accusing the incoming GOP leadership of having no legislative agenda and myopically preoccupied with … investigations.
Of course, the Republican Party has a very specific agenda of programs they would like to enact – secure borders … anti-crime measures … school choice … opposition to a wide range of “woke” craziness. However, with Democrats holding the Senate and the White House, there is little to no chance of enacting the Republican agenda.
Conversely, Democrats will not be able to enact their radical left-wing agenda. At best, there may be some bipartisan legislation that can get through the process. Overall, it is probably a good thing to curb the Democratic agenda.
That leaves a lot of time for investigations. Contrary to the clamor on the left – and the faux indignation over the very thought of Republicans investigating anything about Democrats – there is a lot of fodder for the investigatory mills. The Democrats objections to future investigations is just an attempt to undermine their credibility in advance.
There are a number of legitimate issues to be explored by House committees on behalf of the American people. There is the issue of the border. Biden & Co. have much ‘splaining to do on that one. Then there are the questions as to why and how Biden orchestrated the disastrous surrender in Afghanistan.
But the one investigation that has Biden and the Democrats in a state of apoplexy is the Hunter Biden Case – and that may be a misnomer. The Biden Family Case may be a more apt title.
This is a case where there are sooooo many questions– and so much smoke – that there must be a fire.
Hunter Biden is already in legal trouble over his taxes – and possibly his failure to register as a foreign agent. But those are small potatoes when you consider these FACTS.
- He had no work job for $80,000 per month with a corrupt Ukraine energy company.
- He received millions of dollars from Russian interests.
- He received millions of dollars form Chinese interests.
Was all that “influence peddling?” In view of the meeting Hunter arranged with his father — and other senior Washington officials – it is a very real possibility.
And then there is the potential involvement of President Biden – the “Big Guy,” as he was referred to in various communications suggesting that he was in on the take. In view of all the meetings the Big Guy had with Hunter’s business partners, we know that Old Joe flat-out lied when he repeatedly assured the American people that he was totally uninvolved – clueless – of Hunter’s and brother Frank Biden’s activities.
Oh … and what about the laptop?
You know, the one that the White House said was Russian disinformation … the FBI refused to investigate … and media reports on the laptop were banned from social media as fake news. That is until, the truth could no longer be denied, and Fourth Estate institutions, such as the New York Times and CBS, belatedly reported that the laptop was legit – and all that damning information was accurate. Not Russian disinformation.
As part of the left-wing media hypocrisy, we can anticipate that they will attack the investigators and shield the investigated. The Hunter Biden Case may be too big and too crooked to sweep under the carpet in the Oval Office.

From an Independent/Unaffiliated point of view, I think the GOP would be wise not to get to “investigation happy”. The GOP must pick their battles wisely. Definitely they should balance investigations with getting something positive done for we the people. Perhaps investigate the border and immigration free-for-all, and get passed a Republican revised DACA bill which I have stated in previous blogs seems to be hung up on the issue of “Chain Migration” – otherwise it looks pretty decent to me. Perhaps investigate government collusion with Big Tech and News Media and provide balance with guidelines and laws to ensure freedom of speech and equity /fairness in coverage. Perhaps investigate the Biden family issues while balancing with new or revised robust anti-corruption laws, and, revising the student loan system that piles on interest debt that seems to be unfair. GOP will not survive Independents in 2024 if all they do is investigate. We need to see positives. Seek out the moderate democrats and those worried about their seats in 2024 and find a way to partner with them to move the country forward on hot button issues – but this will require the GOP to be broad minded enough to give the Biden administration some credit. Be warned that we are already aware of the GOP use of investigations as a means to stall any good work out of the current administration while trying to gain talking points for election bashing. And do come up with an alternative to Trump if they can. Do strengthen NATO alliances. Do support the war in Ukraine but investigate any misuse of funds. Do repeal some energy regulations and make us as close to energy independent as we can in two years. Make positives!

Why, Hunter Biden in Republican crosshairs is tempest in a teacup compared the Trump family with how much Ivanka, Jared, Junior profited from their father’s position. They, too, continued Trump business as usual here and internationally. They, also, used private email accounts for Executive Branch official business. No investigations of the Trump children or shouts of “lock them up”.
Twitter’s leaked info making so much in misinformation channels actually proved unlawful, although it did show poor behavior and bad judgement. If Trump thinks the US Constitution’s dismantling is justified and worth the unimaginable price that would entail for his faulty perceptions, he is beyond desperate and full on deranged.
Options made commentary are more or less one’s allegations of another’s faults with projected causation. This as a prosecution lawyer would lay out any case . .It’s entirety spent detailing in accusations pointed and language damning. And, predicated on the commentators judgement that the accused is dead to rights, guilty on each account.
As commentators and prosecutors go the former need only allege certain facts are so, given however much authority being assumed. The prosecutor wins or looses the case by a jury’s vote.
The accused has the right of defending themselves from under the prosecution’s allegations. To that end, justice demands the accused be given an able defense attorney.
No such justice exists in media. It’s up to the jury of public opinion in open court.
People. readers of commentary and jury at large, vote, good or uninformed with their own opinion. Then, media sources bent to one or another persuasion will attract followers, generally of like mind with that source’s content.
However, opinions being as they are do at times collide. And, PBP commentators find this as reality. Expected should the contrary options coming. It is the 1st Amendment speaking in all its beauty. AND … the lap top is not the only issue that needs investigation. The only obvious reason is that he is the son of the VP — and hired to extend influence. There are still questions re the money from China and Russian. Where do you get your claims that all Democrats are scared to death of the Hunter Biden laptop “scandal”? Or that I’m the only Democrat that disagrees that’s it’s a bogus scandal?
I see a lot of MSM and even more right-wing media reporting the same stories over and over – scandals make you pay attention to a story, so there’s a constant profit motive and competition going on – but none of them are showing any real evidence. That’s my evidence that there’s nothing here. If there was, real evidence would be plastered all over the internet. There are certainly personal pictures of Biden and his family that have been acquired and posted everywhere. Besides being an invasion of Biden’s privacy, nothing has shown any evidence of criminal behavior. The only real crime is that someone has managed to hack or aquire a lot of Biden’s personal data. Does that prove that the laptop (if there ever was one) or the harddrives being pass around are actually from Biden’s laptop?
This started with a laptop supposedly acquired by a Trump supporter under dubious circumstances, passed to Guiliani, then to Bannon, and then another party or two, and eventually ending up with the NY Post, little more than a right-wing rag. It appears that dozens of copies have been made. It certainly wouldn’t hold up in a court of law, so you and the rest of the right-wing media are trying it in the court of public opinion. Of course you missed one critical difference between democrat and republican investigations-when democrats are being investigated they do not refuse to testify nor do they plead the 5th. So at the conclusion of those investigations the public can feel relatively assured that they have the full story and there has been no obstruction of justice. Certainly not the case with the Mueller investigation or, to a somewhat lesser extent, with the Jan 6th investigation. Of course tfg was impeached twice, and should have been convicted twice, but republicans refused to act as impartial judges, so he remained in office, and continues to drag your party down. And lets not forget about the Clintons and “The White Water Scandal” where some would be witnesses committed suicide in the Clinton White House to avoid testifying! The White Water Scandal was all about Clintons knowledge and participation in a drug running scheme centered in Arkansas, in a small airport, that a news reporter happened to have witnessed – and the attempt to silence her by the Clinton admin when Clinton was governor of Arkansas. Please cite your evidence that Dems are in court to stop release of Hunter Biden laptop info… I see no references on google… but I do see that there are antitrust lawsuits, and Musk getting sued for worngful termination, and for violating state laws regarding layoffs.

So far the Post and NYT have verified a number of emails.
Two outside analysts verified 22,000 of the 129K but this has not been peer reviewed.
Analysts have also found evidence of added files, again not peer reviewed.
It is thought that an original of the drive does contain “clean” data, not the emails, but not sure if one can be found this many years later.
Also, even valid emails, even emails deems valid by Burisma, may have been added to the drive at a later date and not part of the original drive contents.
It’s a quagmire, can’t wait for the investigation to get to the bottom of that.

I disagree. There was lots of smoke on the first, Mueller indicated that the lack of testimony and the lies made it difficult, but not enough evidence to indite. He clearly said not exonerated, but not indictable. And, like you said, he noted other criminal things should be followed up on, like obstruction.
On the second, he was guilty, the Republicans put politics first, country later, and they paid dearly in 2020, 2021, and 2022 where they blew a slam dunk. And now with his looney candidacy, thirst to overturn the Constitution to be reinstalled, the guilty verdicts, and more looming—— he’s a clear and present danger to the party and the country.
Frank Stetson …. The Mueller report declared that no American — including Trump & Co. — colluded with the Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Mueller was very clear on that point. It was on obstruction of justice that Mueller punted. He listed some actions that may or may not rise to the level of obstruction, but he could not — or would not — charge anyone with obstruction. Rather, he left it to his bosses as the DOJ to make the final call. That suggests that Mueller knew he had a weak case on obstruction. The Mueller Report was then reviewed by (I believe) the Office of Professional Conduct and Attorney General William Barr — and the collective opinion was that there was insufficient evident to move forward on the obstruction charge. Under our system of law, that means Trump and others were found to be innocent of the charges — and in fact, there were no charges. Remember, a person is to be considered innocent until PROVEN guilty in a court-of-law. Your opinion is irrelevant to the legal reality. Trump is still under investigation for a lot of things — and we are yet to see how those will turnout. Obviously The Trump Organization has been found guild of fraud — and even that does not legally involve Trump. I think Trump is in a whole bunch of trouble, but that just because you hate him does not entitle your to bear false witness about the past.. I know you follow this stuff closely, so I cannot understand how you could pass along such misinformation unless you are just lying.
Actually, Mueller never said that there was not enough evidence to indict the President. In a hearing by Democrats after Trump was unelected, when questioned:
“The reason again that you did not indict Donald Trump is because of the OLC opinion stating that you cannot indict a sitting president, correct?” Lieu had asked.
“That is correct,” Mueller replied.
The OLC opinion was based on a single letter written by lawyers while Nixon was in office, but it has never been tested by SCOTUS.
Joseph S Bruder …. you missed the bouncing ball again. The issue of collusion was totally dismissed by Mueller. What he told Lieu was inconsistent with what he said in the Report.
And again, you’re totally wrong. The Mueller report listed literally hundreds of instances of collusion, but could not prosecute because collusion does not have a legal definition. Mueller himself said that he did not establish “collusion” because the term is not defined well enough. What he said was he did not have sufficient evidence that the Trump campaign was directly involved in Russian crimes. Which is not surprising, since Rosenstein told Mueller not to investigate counterintelligence matters involving Trump and Russia, while telling the FBI that Mueller was already investigating those matters. If the Deputy AG of the US is directing the investigators away from a large part of the illegal activity, how can they be expected to find anything?
Rather than insulting your readers over and over, go out and read the damned report for yourself, and quit depending on Trump apologists for your opinion. Of course, that would involve some real effort on your part, since it’s 450 pages long. Most of your articles indicate that you don’t do that much research to fire off a 500-word opinion piece.
JSB; I think Mueller said there were many troubling things uncovered, but not enough to indict. Thus, based on the evidence, it appears the final judgment was appropriate. Mueller said there was a lot of smoke, including hundreds of meetings between team Trump and the Russians, well before the election, when there is very little purpose for any meeting whatsoever. Much less so important that you dedicate resources to it during an active and highly competitive come campaign. Gives one pause to consider.
And, of course, on the obstruction, he is guilty. That’s a chump change legal problem, but again, makes one pause to consider why anyone would obstruct when they are innocent. More smoke
Not that it was mentioned here, but on the second impeachment, Trump is stone cold, guilty, and the Republicans let him go. However, with Trump in the rearview… It appears that was an ill planned decision by the Republicans, now have to deal with the increasing insanity of a guy who could’ve been impeached, deserved to be impeached, and the criminal literally is on tape saying he is guilty. Their loss in our game as we watch them twist with each Trump tweet or whatever..

Frank Stetson. Not quite right. Mueller could have charge Trump — or others — with obstruction of justice, but he did not. He left it to the DOJ and the decision to not indict was the result of consultation among the top lawyers — with Barr following their opinions. He may have agreed with their opinions, but it is a misrepresentation to suggest Barr made the decision on his own. Do you think Garland will make decisions about Trump without consultation? Come on, man. You a long on opinions and short on understanding how things really work.

“The special counsel found that Russia did interfere with the election, but “did not find that the Trump campaign, or anyone associated with it, conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in these efforts, despite multiple efforts from Russian-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign.”
As far as obstruction, the Mueller report laid out facts on both sides but did not reach a conclusion. Barr’s letter said that “the Special Counsel states that ‘while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.’”
But Barr said that he and Rosenstein “have concluded that the evidence developed during the Special Counsel’s investigation is not sufficient to establish that the President committed an obstruction-of-justice offense.”
Joe … you obviously do not recall the great consternation that went through the left-wing echo chamber when the report was released;. Mueller also did NOT declare Trump guilty of obstruction when he could have make that determination regardless whether Trump could be indicted while in office. You will recall that the Special Prosecutor in the Clinton case did make a determination of a crime even though he could not be indicted at the moment. Clinton later lost his law license for perjury. Mueller exonerated Trump of collusion by saying here was insufficient evidence. That means not guilty in the legal sense. And the DOJ agreed with Mueller is finding insufficient evident to establish obstruction in a court-of-law.
As you know, I am not a great fan of Trump, but that does not mean facts do not matter. In our system, a person is to be considered innocent until PROVEN guilty in a court-of-law — not in you mind. The Report have some potential areas of concern re obstruction , but avoided saying it was sufficient to indict. He was obviously uncomfortable making that charge. He left it to his bosses in the DOJ — and they found insufficient evidence to proceed with an abstraction charge. You can call that political, but it is what it is. No indictment — and a presumption of innocence. If you cannot accept that reality, you are engaging in vigilantism — your opinion above the law. Misrepresenting the FACTS.

The wealthy got the same tax treatment as everyone else. Democrats peddling the corporate tax cuts as benefiting the rich. While i think executive compensation is outrageous, the tax cuts did not affect them as much as the did the price of goods — which was a benefit to everyone, especially the poor. I liked the creation of the Space Force … blocking former members of Congress from lobbying … getting the NATO members to increase their financial commitment (something previous presidents tried and failed). … stopping NK from missile testing … and getting the return of the remains of MIAs (something previous presidents tried and failed) … The Abraham Accords brought more peace to the Middle East than any previous administration … he made America an oil export nation … he got us out of the godawful Iran deal … and the Paris Accords that worked against US interests … he reversed Obama policy of not sending arms to Ukraine … he stopped Syria’s (Russia’s) use of chemical weapons when be bombed the facilities … he expanded school choice … and I could go on and on.
