Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin is a member-in-good-standing in the cabal of Democrat legislators with the most severe cases of Trump Derangement Syndrome. That makes him a popular guest on the left leaning news programs. He was among the founders of the Trump Resistance Movement that Democrats launched the day after the 2016 election. He was the Democrats’ floor manager for Trump’s second impeachment. He was also a member of the January 6 (kangaroo) congressional committee.

Like all of his ilk, Raskin proffers the belief that nothing positive is ever to be said about Trump or his policies. ; He also wants nothing to do with anyone who engages with Trump in any positive way. ;

(Personally, I believe that Raskin’s strategy of being the constant critic – and undertaking the most extreme measures to “get Trump” – is the reason Democrats lost the election and why their favorable rating is an abysmal 23 percent in a recent CNN poll. ; But I digress.)

Until recently, Raskin focused his shaming tactic at domestic organizations and individuals who maintain a positive relationship with Trump in any way. In Raskin’s narrow-minded partisan world, there is no room for objectivity or bipartisanship. He is in a constant state of combat – and expects others to act accordingly.

Recently, Raskin’s political arrogance has gone to a new level. ; He is now threatening entire nations who might work cooperatively with Trump. ; You read that right. The congressman — one /435th of the House membership – is now demanding entire nations take up his never-Trump crusade. ; From his tiny legislative perch, Raskin is flashing the sword at the world community of nations – allies and adversaries alike.

His message is simple. ; If you cooperate with Trump, you will pay a price if and when Democrats return to power. ; Raskin said, “When we (Democrats) come back to power — and we will — are not going to look kindly upon people who facilitated authoritarianism in our country.”

It is a universal threat. With the exception of El Salvador, Raskin does not name specific countries – or the issues that may cross the line in his mind. He does not say what retributions he would bestow on errant nations. If you work out a trade deal with Trump, would Raskin impose sanctions? Withhold humanitarian or military aid?

Raskin’s threats are meaningless since he has no power to implement them. ; He is the ant crawling up the Elephant’s leg with thoughts of rape.

But Raskin’s language is reckless. ; He purports to be a defender of constitutional democracy but proceeds to violate diplomatic traditions and constitutional restraints. It is arguable that he may have violated the Logan Act by engaging in foreign affairs against the interest of the United States government.

Raskin represents the malignant thinking of a band of extremist Democrats who want to divide the nation into pro-Trump and anti-Trump constituencies because that is the only battle they believe they can win – despite the fact that they lost the election using that strategy.

Fortunately, most Americans are not for or against Trump. They judge Trump and their political leaders issue by issue. Most Americans are currently expressing concern over Trump’s economic policies, but give him overwhelming support for his immigration and deportation actions. The majority of Americans disagree with Trump on abortion but agree with his opposition to men in women’s sports and locker rooms.

Many politicians and political analysts – on both sides — say that the problem with the current Democrat leaders is that they did not – and do not — listen to the people. ; That is why they lost. ;I agree. ; And Raskin and his kind are the primary advocates of the Democrats’ losing strategies. ; He does not listen. ; ; He maintains a closed mind and an open mouth.

Unfortunately for the Democratic Party, every time the more rational moderate voices arise, the Raskin types pound them into silence. The Maryland congressman could not be more helpful to Trump and the GOP if he were on the payroll at the Republican National Committee. So, there ‘tis.
