New Orleans, Las Vegas Terrorist Attacks Linked?
In the aftermath of two devastating terrorist attacks—one in New Orleans on Bourbon Street and the other involving a Tesla Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas—investigators are now exploring a possible connection: both suspects served at the same U.S. military base during their time in the armed forces.
The Suspects: Who Were They?
Shamsud-Din Jabbar (New Orleans) Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old former Army human resources and IT specialist, served from 2007 to 2015 and later in the Army Reserve until 2020. Jabbar had been deployed to Afghanistan between 2009 and 2010, where he reportedly developed advanced technical expertise. After leaving the military, he settled in Houston, Texas, working as a real estate agent.
On New Year’s Day, Jabbar drove a rented Ford F-150 electric pickup truck into a crowded Bourbon Street, killing 15 and injuring dozens before being fatally shot by police. Authorities recovered an ISIS flag from his vehicle and several improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Hours before the attack, Jabbar posted ISIS-inspired videos online, openly expressing his intent to kill.
Matthew Livelsberger (Las Vegas) The Las Vegas suspect, 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger from Colorado Springs, was reportedly responsible for the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck outside a hotel owned by President-elect Donald Trump. Livelsberger, who had served as a logistics specialist in the military, rented the Cybertruck through a car-sharing app. While Livelsberger’s motives remain less clear than Jabbar’s, investigators noted similarities in the suspects’ behaviors and methodologies.
The Military Connection
Both men served at Fort Leonard Wood, a U.S. Army base in Missouri, though at slightly different times. Fort Leonard Wood is a hub for military police, chemical, and engineering training. While officials have not revealed whether the two suspects knew each other personally, the shared connection to the same base raises questions about possible radicalization or shared extremist influences during or after their service.
The military has faced scrutiny before for its vulnerability to extremist infiltration. Analysts are investigating whether either suspect exhibited warning signs during their time in service or if they maintained connections after leaving the military.
Are the Attacks Connected?
At this stage, investigators remain cautious about confirming a direct operational link between the New Orleans attack and the Las Vegas explosion. President Biden acknowledged the similarities but emphasized that no conclusive evidence currently ties the two incidents together.
However, the ISIS propaganda materials recovered from Jabbar’s vehicle and the sophisticated explosive device used in Las Vegas suggest advanced planning and possible coordination. Investigators are also focusing on the rental histories of both vehicles, suspect communication records, and financial transactions in the months leading up to the attacks.
The FBI has launched multi-state investigations, with search warrants executed in Texas, Louisiana, and Nevada. Authorities are actively hunting for possible accomplices, with law enforcement officials warning that neither suspect acted entirely alone.
These two attacks—one chaotic and overt in a crowded celebration zone, the other precise and explosive in a high-profile urban area—have heightened fears of a coordinated terror network operating on U.S. soil.
PBP Editor: This story will quickly be overtaken by events, but it is interesting the links that are unfolding. I am getting a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that this is the beginning of a long and tragic pattern.
“We obliterated 100 percent of the ISIS caliphate,” said Trump victoriously in 2020. Mission unaccomplished I guess. And now 15 are dead, 2 more than at Abby Gate. In 2018 they said: “We’ve done more against ISIS in nine months than the previous administration has done during its whole administration – by far, by far.” Trump added this bit o braggadocio: “on terrorism, in Iraq and Syria, we’ve taken back almost 100%, in a very short period of time, of the land that they took. And it all took place since our election.”
Yup, and now look at Biden ending the war in Syria, ceasefire in Gazza, and now this attack, the largest in US for quite some time “since our election.”
And the Trump campaign promise that he will end the war in Ukraine before his inauguration, says “it will only take 24 hours.”
The PBP editor, perhaps with CIA experience, has a feeling of dread as the Mump Regime begins. Sigh. If they could just get rid of those treasonous Democrats all would be OK, perhaps. Maybe. NBL.
A little over 2 weeks until peace in Ukraine ala Mump Regime promise!!!!!
And in four years, Biden has allowed radical Islam to fester and attack again.
You should work on your reading comprehension, Syria is now under the control of radicals directly linked to terror. Biden’s role in this was to stick his head in the sand.
Joe says: “You should work on your reading comprehension, Syria is now under the control of radicals directly linked to terror. Biden’s role in this was to stick his head in the sand.” What was I supposed to read? All I said was the war stopped on Biden’s watch. I did not rate or rank the victor, that’s on you and your projecting your comment on me. Question: are you saying Syria and the world are better off under Assad/Putin? Weird.
Yes, the new regime is noted as a terrorist organization, however, we are in a bit of a honeymoon period, so glad Assad is gone, ever hopeful the new group will moderate, but wary lest they don’t. Still better than Assad. So far. Right? I am guessing you are right, they will revert to being a terrorist sponsor at minimum, but I am hoping they will see to the needs of their people and leave the violence behind.
Your first statement: “And in four years, Biden has allowed radical Islam to fester and attack again” is a great unsubstantiated opinion you are welcome to have. I am just not sure what metrics you are using to measure. You got stats or anything more than a feeling? Because I am hard pressed to see that, don’t see much difference at all in policy or results. Also, I have a hard time, in reality, pinning a single act to a trend much less back to the President. Do we blame Bush for 9/11? For me, IMO, I feel about as safe today under Biden as I did under Trump, terrorism-wise. Yes, it’s just a feeling, but I did actually add some facts, shown below.
Fact is under both Trump and Biden there have been wars, attacks, on foreign soil and at home. Most of our U.S. terrorism is domestic, most often perpetrated by folks associated with the right. I had detailed this earlier, but you need a better search engine for me to re-enter that research. Or even a working search engine. I have detailed Islamic terrorism here, but I am sure you did not comprehend, or read the statistics behind your opinion. And the pbp search will not work. I will elaborate JUST on the Islamic terrorism given you have defined the discussion to that.
In 2017, Trump’s first year, there were at least 30 terrorist attacks in the world, killing 500. In the US, 8 were killed, 12 wounded, when a guy with a truck in NYC bearing an isis flag drove into a crowd, jumped out guns in hand, was shot and arrested. They were paintball guns.
In 2018, Trump’s second year, there are at least 29 terrorist attacks in the world, killing 1,093. In the US, no Islamic attacks.
In 2019, 9 attacks, 120 dead, one is US in Florida, where three servicemen died, eight wounded when Islamic airman allowed to train here let loose.
In 2020, the year of covid, 8 attacks, 87 dead, none in US.
In 2021, the second year of covid, the first year of Biden, 7 attacks, 488 dead, over half the dead were in Afghanistan, and two thirds of that during the final attack in the departure where 13 American service people made the ultimate sacrifice in protection of those departing. No US attacks.
In 2022, 11 attacks, 394 dead, and one US attack when Salmon Rushdie got stabbed for his Islamic transgression 33 years earlier.
In 2023, 7 attacks, 171 dead, no US attacks.
In 2024, 11 attacks, 1,153 dead, no US attacks.
That’s Trump for 78 attacks, about 1,800 dead and two US attacks, one with 8 dead and three soldiers dead in Florida not protecting a US presence on foreign soil. They were in school.
That’s Biden for 36 attacks, about 2,200 dead, one US attack by knife for Rushdie, and three soldiers dead in Afghanistan protecting the withdrawal.
Now I know you feel the world was a safer place under Trump, the USA was safer under Trump, but they were not. And when they count Trump’s next term, 2025 will be the first year and NO will be there. I contend it’s about the same, on par, for both Presidents in regards to Islamic terrorism globally and in the USA. I think my earlier pbp research shows that domestic terrorism and violence was higher under Trump which does not make be feel safer about our next four years.

I spell my name: Danger. And facts are our friends.
And Biden allowed them to rebuild. If you remove weeds from a garden they will grow back if you allow it. And Biden and his ho allowed it
Great analogy, Seth, weeds, cool, except you don’t know how many weeds were in the garden before Trump, how many under Trump, and how many after Trump,. You don’t know the numbers for Biden either nor the number of recent air attacks, over 75, against Isis sites since the fall of Assad. Trump has said we should mind our own business, perhaps his bone spurs are acting up.
You just made this up, didn’t you. You really don’t know do you. You just offer your conclusions without facts eh?
At the end of Trump‘s regime, Isis remained the largest terrorist threat in the world. He just didn’t want to tell you about it and you most certainly just didn’t wanna hear it. You can look it up.
So what’s your prescription moron
Both men were former U.S. Military.
And both from Fort Bragg I believe!
I guess Miley and the Dems want him to keep his Job at all costs!
Are you hallucinating again, Darren? I believe the FBI has said there is no connection between the two attacks. One seems to be an Islamic based attack, the other seems to be a suicide at this point.
But perhaps your fantasy is right. Got any facts? Nope, just coincidences you’re hoping or correlations you are hoping takes a conspiracy theory and makes it true.
Crank Dangler I’m sorry that you’re afraid of Trump. If not for him there would have been many more attacks. And Biden and his bitch couldn’t stop them
Jim; That was just not true for Trump’s first term and Biden’s first term. As indicated above.
You can believe and say what you want but the facts say against Islamic terrorists, we were safer under Biden.
And no need to be sorry. Especially if it’s a lie.
Next I will look once again at domestic terrorism and maybe you can feel better then. But I doubt it.
…….And there goes Jesus Frank again showing how much he hates Trump AND America! Is there anyone he does like except for himself? If he thinks Trump is so bad, why isn’t he proving he is a Patriot by DOING SOMETHING about his deranged rants? Now, another person is telling him off! He is a sick, sick man.
