I shall not embark on the most dangerous part of opinion commentary – making predictions that folks at home can check throughout the year.
Number 1 – Republicans will win the House in the 2022 midterm elections
This is significant because the wholly owned media subsidiaries of the Democratic Party are throwing journalistic integrity to the wind in an attempt to convince voters that Republicans taking control would be the end of the American Republic. Every day CNN and MSNBC (and others) hammer that propaganda message 24/7. They are at a loss to explain why Republicans – other than President Trump – did so well in the 2020 election – and even Trump garnered more votes than he did in 2016. The GOP also came out on top in the 2021 off-year elections. When the GOP came roaring back in 2014, President Obama admitted that Democrats had taken a “shellacking.” They may well see an even bigger one in November.
Number 2 – Republicans will win the Senate in 2022
That is a closer call, of course, but I do believe the GOP will have a one or two seat majority in the next Congress based on the past elections noted above and the polling data that shows the Republicans in their strongest position in history – with an unprecedented 10-point preference lead among voters.
Number 3 – Big gains for Communism
President Biden’s surrender in Afghanistan has triggered a renewed aggressiveness across the Communist world – among the major players and their client states. Russia is more likely than not to invade Ukraine. Putin wants his troops on the border of NATO and not NATO troops on the border of Russia. So far, his desire to reassemble the old Soviet Union has been successful as America stood down and watched from the sidelines – as in Georgia, Belarus and the Crimea. In violation of the agreement returning Hong Kong to China, President Xi Jinping will crush that last democratic resistance in the island province. He will also put greater pressure on Taiwan – if not launching a full invasion Beijing’s threats and actions will become more aggressive. North Korea’s Kim Jong-un will be back in the bosom of China and will be launching more nuclear-capable missiles able to reach the United States.
Number 4 – A rise in terrorism
Again … Biden’s surrender in Afghanistan will trigger an expansion of worldwide terrorism directed at the United States, Europe and Israel. The terrorist victory in Afghanistan has increased recruiting and decreased America’s intelligence capabilities. We saw the precursor of that in the Taliban’s quick and brutal takeover of Afghanistan – with murderous terrorists taking leadership positions in that nation. We are losing the War on Terrorism. Afghan is now a terrorist state. The loss of Afghanistan has pulled Pakistan further into the terrorist-accommodating fold. Hamas will up its attacks on Israel. U.S. Border Patrol has arrested individuals from known terrorist states – including some identified as known terrorists. The new leadership in Iran – an already terror sponsor – is headed by a person directly responsible for the killing of thousands of people. The dark clouds of terrorism are gathering on the horizon.
Number 5 — Schiff will lie again … and again
I predict that California Congressman Adam Schiff will tell another political whopper – probably more than one. I am not talking about the usual level of bs politicians engage in on a daily basis, but some notable BIG lies. You will recall how he said he had seen hard evidence that Trump criminally conspired with the Russians in their election meddling – only to be proven a liar when Special Counsel Robert Mueller said it was not so. There was that quote he read into the Congressional Record of the text of Trump’s phone conversation with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky only to be busted for making up the words. And more recently Schiff altered a text message claiming that Congressman Jim Jordan had authored it – both lies. Okay! Okay! Yes, this is a no-brainer in terms of predictions. I might as well have predicted that the sun would rise every morning in 2022.
Number 6 – Trump will continue to obsess over the 2020 election.
It is obvious President Trump does not read my commentaries – or does not follow my suggestions. I have several times written that it is time to deal with the future. President Biden is in the White House. However, no matter how one views the 2020 popular vote, the issue was legally and constitutionally settled by the vote of the Electoral College. That is how we elect presidents … period. Whether he runs in 2024 or not, Trump, the GOP and the nation would be better off in focusing on the terrible policies of the radicalized Democrats and the future elections. Okay, another no-brainer.
Number 7 – Pelosi’s carefully Select(ed) Committee will go flat
Rest assured that the one-sided kangaroo committee allegedly investigating the Capitol Hill riot that the House Speaker put together as a political vehicle to attack Trump – and by extension Republicans and conservatives – will not complete its work before the 2022 midterm elections – and will not get all the witnesses they desire. Instead, they will hold highly (and favorably reported) hearings that will be nothing more than a political dog-and-pony-show. AND they will issue an “interim report” for the sole purpose of creating political fodder prior to the November elections. BUT even as the Committee has the myopic support of the left-leaning media outlets, it is not resonating with the public as much as Pelosi had hoped. Despite all the hoopla and the biased coverage, the product of the Committee will have little impact on the 2022 elections. And when the GOP takes over in 2023, there will be no Pelosi Select(ed) Committee at all.
Number 8 – The earth will not destruct, and humanity will not be wiped out
Yes, the earth has been warming lately. But the Draconian predictions will not happen in the near or distant future. We may have to adjust to the earth’s period of warming as we await a future mini-ice age. The earth has been doing it for billions of years. Frankly, I am more worried about the mega-caldera we call Yellowstone Park. If that sucker blows – and it is a couple hundred-thousand years overdue – we will see real devastation across America – and the world. But in terms of weather, next year will be a lot like this past year. I hope that is true in terms of Florida, where I currently reside. Despite dire predictions and even some erroneous claims, this was one of the mildest hurricane seasons of recent years.
Number 9 – The Democrats soft-on-crime policies will get a huge pushback
Make no mistake about it. The wave of crimes sweeping the nation is the consequence of years of Democrat policies that have sided with the criminals against the victims – and the police. These include the elimination of bail, de-criminalizing serious crimes (assault, battery, shoplifting and even drive-by shootings). On top of that, Democrat prosecutors are refusing to press charges for crimes that remain on the books. The entire demeaning, defunding and restraining the police is having a direct impact on morale, recruitment, enforcement and ultimately crime. It is so bad that some Democrats are already reversing their positions. Then there is the crime wave that is the direct result of the Democrats’ open borders policies. Yes, most of the millions of migrants may be good people, but tens of thousands of hardened criminals and even terrorists are embedded in those human caravans. And many of the good people arriving at the border are there with the aid of paid criminal gangsters – AND many of the migrants – especially women and children — arrive as victims of violent crimes. More and more, Democrat policies are being recognized as the source of the rise in crime.
Number 10 – Covid will subside … but protective measures will not
We are heading into the third year of the Covid Pandemic. We have had a lot of good news – vaccines, medications, weaker variants. But the medical bureaucrats and the fearmongering media are responding as if this is the same Pandemic we were suffering throughout 2020 – and even then the protective measures went beyond the real risk. By Spring, the scientists tell us that the Pandemic should be further subsiding in terms of severity, hospitalizations and deaths. But the medical bureaucrats – most notably Dr. Anthony Fauci – are hinting at something akin to permanent masking and regulations over interior spaces. I predict that they will be successful (sadly) in continuing to impose damaging restrictions throughout the next year.
Number 11 – President Biden will have at least one trip to the hospital
I am not referring to routine check-ups. But a visit that is the result is symptoms of something. It may involve being admitted. Vice President Harris will again be handed the reins of presidential power – which will have me sending Biden a “get well soon” message.
Number 12 – the Cubs will win the World Series.
Okay! That is not a prediction but wishful thinking
After such a grim list, it is hard to say with conviction … but anyway … HAPPY NEW YEAR!
So, there ‘tis.
