Globalist West Cracking Down on Conservative Free Speech
Free speech is under attack under leftist-globalist governments in several countries with conservatives in the crosshairs of their law enforcement and judicial machinery. Whether it’s the United Kingdom (UK), Canada, or Australia, the authorities are restricting conservative free speech for both journalists and others.
In February this year, British police reportedly threatened Christian street preachers in Uxbridge, London, with hate crime charges. As reported by The Christian Post, the incident followed the case of a cop confronting singer Harmonie London over singing Christian songs outside church grounds.
In September, Fox News reported on the threat to free speech under Britain’s leftist government that selectively applies its hate speech laws to target certain groups. The targeted groups in news are nearly always the Christian conservatives, or what some term nationalists, who raise a voice against the destruction of the country’s culture and safety by an overflow of immigrants from non-Christian, mainly Muslim nations. In October, the media regulating authority of Ireland adopted a new “Online Safety Code” that is applicable to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Udemy, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Reddit – all social media platforms that allow video-sharing. While the regulation has been promoted as protective of users, particularly minors from harmful content on these sites, free speech advocates rang alarms of concern. The banned categories bracketed under the code are vague and can easily be abused to politically target anyone. Bev Turner of GB News called it a full-scale assault on free speech and online privacy.

In Australia, the leftist government introduced new hate crime legislation in September that would criminally prosecute anyone, to cite Reuters, “if they targeted a person’s race, gender, ethnic origin, religion or sexual orientation.” The law could award offenders up to five years in prison for what the government sees as a hate crime and, notably, jail someone for seven years if they issue threats that pose a danger to the government.
In late October, popular American conservative commentator Candace Owens was banned from visiting Australia where she was scheduled to speak at some events. The reason behind the Australian government’s decision was said to be Owens’ commentary on topics like the Holocaust and slavery. Owens is a black woman who has strongly opposed identity politics and has been harshly critical of leftist narratives on most issues. Just days ago, Owens was also refused a visa to New Zealand by the country’s leftist government, implying a pattern of denial of free speech to select conservative voices.
In Canada, conservative Jewish journalist and commentator Ezra Levant of Rebel News was arrested in Toronto on November 24 at a public demonstration by anti-Israel protesters. Levant wrote that Toronto Police accused him of causing a disturbance when journalism was all he was doing. Levant was interviewed by Fox News a day later.
The concept I guess for Dempsey is to incite and inflame you to the point of taking action with his mischaracterizations, conspiracy theories, and lies. Just when you think he can’t sink lower than the gutter, he finds a sewer. This time he lies to state: “Globalist West Cracking Down on Conservative Free Speech.” There is no “globalist west,” this is clearing a handful of countries, each acting on its own. Yes, they are western. But they are not connected or conspiring on this and there is no intent to go after conservatives. And they are no cracking down on conservatives but on hate, nationalism, and racism. Or at least, attempting to. And in that, they may be trampling on the right, or the right may just be those guys needing trampling. At least if you believe the airwaves are no place for lies, fake conspiracies (like what the author intends here and often in his writing), hate, racism, and such. Is that censoring free speech or just getting mistruths out of our dialog. It used to be that the public punished liars, fake news-ers, fake conspiracy guys, but no more. Now a certain part of our citizenry grants them big salaries paying good money to be lied to.
That’s a good discussion to have. To censor or not to censor; and what about those algorisms — fair or targeting groups with legitimate platforms and messaging. But that isn’t what Dempsey drags up from the sewer as gre4at research to uncover the truth. He deals in shit research, poor reporting, and questions little that the extreme fanatical right brings. He rarely second sources any of these often discredited folks. Like here.
His first source, The Christian Media is dubious and, because of that, deserves a second sourcing being rated by Media Bias/Fact Check as “Overall, we rate The Christian Post Right Biased based on story selection favorable to the right and Mixed for factual reporting based on a failed fact check, poor sources, and misleading headlines that do not match the story.” Probably OK, but I would double source. As in “don’t trust, verify.” Dempsey does not.
His second source, FOX, he attributes this quote: “Britain is facing a free speech crisis as the new left-wing government, overzealous police and courts crackdown on freedom of expression.” That is the lead of the story, but not the conclusion. You need to read the story, it’s more nuanced than Dempsey spins. So, here he cherry picks a sound bite without divulging the conclusions from the FOX story. It’s a good story, Dempsey does not tell in well or due it justice. It does not fit his spin.
His next source, GB News is rated poorly as: “Overall, we rate GB News Right Biased and Questionable based on a lack of transparency with ownership and funding, numerous failed fact checks, and the promotion of conspiracy theories and pseudoscience.” We’re talking extreme right bias. Only from the mind of the Dempsey would this source be acceptable. This source alone says you should quit reading and drop yet another Dempsey fake news piece with questionable lying dirt bag sources.
So Dempsey has conjoined England, Ireland, Australia, and Canada as some Globalist Cabal which is working together to censor free speech as these countries attempt to take action to curb blatant lies, hate speak, and racism. We all love free speech but are we also gung ho for lies, hate, and racism? Especially in the online form. This is not a union, not a “globalist west,” he’s just doing that to rile you up against liberals and immigrants. That’s Dempsey’s reason for living it appears. To make you mad with his lies. If you can’t see a problem with our freedom of lies, our house of lies, and the things that hate and lies create, then your head’s in the sand. Are these proper steps or censoring of free thought? I cannot say, and Dempsey clearly does not know. He fucking does not even what to talk about it. He just wants to point fingers, lay blame, and fire you up. I say it’s a good debate to have and we can and have to do better. I do not have an answer, it is a difficult problem to solve without stepping on people’s free speech. But bad sources, illogical conclusions, and fanning the fires of hate against certain demographics is not good from any side. And Dempsey loves it; it’s his bread and butter.
I agree Frank. And yes, it is a super difficult problem to solve. As an Independent, I applaud any effort to rid public communications of lies, hate, and misinformation. And Dipsy Dumpster is in the thick of this evil as usual. I think the best way to avoid this evil is to use reputable sources. And hopefully sooner than later the big wigs of AI will come up with a system that I advocated for over two years ago in a Horist post to label an article as “AI Generated” if it was not written by a human, and to list the editor of the article in the same tag. Also, I think we can create a “Verified” system for internet authors and publishers where they are certified as trusted to be accurate. My thought would be to shoot for a goal of eliminating 80% of the most egregious lies, hate, and misinfo. The other thing people can do is to subscribe to payed publishers. Seems like the evil doers are taking advantage of society’s thirst for free publications. I find paid publishers such as Economist, Forbes, WSJ, NIH, NYT, etc are much more accurate and truthful. Probably some of these subscriptions are tax deductible if they contain content used in the building and management of wealth.
By the way, Horist is deep into this too. You know how many time you and I had to supply the other side of the story and correct the lies in his articles and how he hates when we do that.
Tom, I do add facts and other’s view of Horistian stuff, but he rarely, if ever, dives into the filth and lies of The Dumpster. Of Trump’s 2016 top 100 pledges, he makes a stab at less than 50. Already for 2024, his pre-inauguration end to the Ukraine war looks iffy.
This guy is being handed a world without our soldiers on the field in an active war. The economy is booming, and many feel the benefits, although not all by far. The stock market is record-breaking, day after day. Our increase in debt is markedly down over Trump as is covid. Border crossings are down 75% or more, the issue at the border is vastly diminished. Trump will be able to claim victory, and he will, on these and many fronts.
It will be interesting to see how he fucks this up as he did the Obama recovery. Last time he helped with covid and a million died with his response. Wonder what’s in his wallet this time. It’s gonna be wild.
