Fauci lied under oath to Congress, NIH CONFIRMS

Dr. Anthony Fauci told an untruth to Congress while under oath.  That is no longer a matter of debate.  It is a confirmed fact.  And ironically, it is his own National Institute of Health (NIH) that confirms it.

Perhaps you recall the heated televised exchange between Senator Rand Paul and Fauci.  It got quite a bit of coverage largely so that the left-wing media could chastise Paul for daring to question the integrity of the highest paid bureaucrat in America.

Paul began by giving Fauci an opportunity to correct his previous testimony that the NIH – Fauci’s home base – had never funded gain-of-function research at the now infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Gain-of-function is the type of procedure that enhances the ability of an animal-only virus to infect humans.  While it is allegedly done to understand the mechanics of mutation, it can also be said to weaponize a virus.

Paul opened his questioning of Fauci with, “Knowing that it is a crime to lie to Congress, do you wish to retract your statement of May 11 where you claimed that the NIH never funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan?”

Fauci responded: “Senator Paul, I have never lied to Congress and I do not retract that statement.”

Fauci claimed that the research being funded in Wuhan was not gain-of-function – at which time shot back, “Senator Paul, you do not know what you are talking about.”  And he repeated, “I want to say that officially.  You do not know what you are talking about.”  Fauci then pointed his finger at Paul and said, “If anyone is lying here, Senator, it is YOU.”

Paul made it clear that he was not saying that the gain-of-function research funded by NIH created the Covid-19 virus or was the cause of the Pandemic – but only that what was funded was gain-of-function research, which Fauci had repeatedly denied.

Weeell… On October 20th, the NIH released a letter that confirmed that the agency’s funds were used on gain-of-function research.  AND, the research specifically involved bats.

However, the work was not related to the Covid-19 virus.  It would be impossible for the viruses that were produced with NIH to have caused the specific Covid-19 Pandemic.  But contrary to repeated and indignant claims by Fauci, it was gain-of-function research – just as Paul had said.

What is disturbing about Fauci’s false testimony is that he had every reason to know the truth.  If he was unaware when Paul first raised the question, Fauci would have checked it out.  He would have been obligated to check it out.  Failure to do so would be a very serious malfeasance.

Why Fauci would have lied is a mystery.  But one possible explanation is that he did not want the world to know that NIH was funding any gain-of-function research because it is so controversial – and especially funding a lab that is now believed to have used gain-of-function to produce the virus that has ravaged the world.

Dissecting Fauci’s testimony and his responses to Paul, there can be no doubt that Fauci was attempting to intentionally deceive Congress – lie, as it were.  After proclaiming that he had never lied to Congress, Fauci proceeded to do just that.

So, there ‘tis.

It’s all about who you are

The whole idea that covid19 was not funded by the US is silly. We most certainly funded this research in china after it was banned in the US.

Stop Lying. We all know we are not attacking china or anyone else because the trail leads back to us.

Actually it is debatable whether Fauci told the complete truth or put some spin on the ball. You know spin Larry. Like this story where you left out critical facts so you could bash on Fauci like Rand.

Well Rand is no Ron, his nose is rightfully out of joint. He got called on a lie and he wants blood. But if you told the whole story, the real truth, the fact is they did not finance gain-of-function, however it was the result. The NIH letter was clear about that. In a number of places I believe. Try The Hill, good overview.

But you were not clear or comprehensive. You spin, you pounced. You conveniently left out the good stuff.

I think we can debate whether Fauci spun or was just being anal-lyrical as scientists are prone to do. I think he just wanted on the record that the US does not break our rules to fund things that can weaponize disease. Perhaps all of the above. But he did not lie. Rand Paul did and continues to. I hope you can see this

At least based on what’s been presented so far.

(Aside: sorry , every time Rand gets involved , I see him blindsided while mowing his lawn in his neighborhood turf war.. it never gets old ;-).

    • William shumate

Maybe it’s time to blindside some liberal assholes. We are living in dangerous times. It’s time to be locked and loaded.

Vanity Fair who has been pursuing this since before the letter pretty much says Fauci did not lie but there are some troubling aspects to NIH research funding, control, and monitoring. Perhaps DARPA too.

Even if, at the current time, Fauci is off the hook re lying, more investigation may turn up significant issues like why the grant holder held their report for two years given the importance of the supposed unintended results.

Follow the money. I am just not sure what $$$ Fauci has to gain in this. Rand, on the other hand, is trying to save his political a$$ after being made a Twitter meme poster child during the hearing. Every prosecutor knows, don’t ask a question you don’t know the answer to, and Rand went for the kill shot without knowing the answer. Sure looks like he is doing it again.

Just don’t know how Fauci became such a political football when he is just trying to give us the latest info to save our lives. Just not sure how his advice has harmed us. Much less make our life challenges any more onerous than covid already has. Sure seems better than the advice we got from Trump and his minions. Clorox, bright lights, wacko drugs, everything except the vaccine. It’s just the flu,, it will go away in the Spring, I got through it great (using drugs you can’t have).—— nope, I will take Fauci’s advice over The Big Liar and his friends .

    • Doug

Frank you are a idiot Fauci is the one how stupid r u

  6. Frank stetson

Obviously Doug read both The Hill and Vanity Fair before coming to that conclusion. His rebuttal of those stories is less than compelling. I am guessing he didn’t agree with their facts but he has little to offer beyond a rant.

I am glad to see that Larry has some people speaking up, although I’m not quite 100% sure he resonates with their commentary.

I have realized that of all sorts of insurance, medical insurance is the most controversial because of the turmoil between the insurance company’s necessity to remain making money and the user’s need to have insurance coverage. Insurance companies’ earnings on wellness plans have become low, so some companies struggle to generate income. Thanks for the strategies you discuss through this website.
