Delaware Sued for Attacking First Amendment Rights of Pro-Life Groups

&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">One thing the Democrats never learn is respecting the right of free speech for all&period; With maximizing the number of abortions as one of their top missions&comma; blue states make censorship laws targeting the pro-life movement&period; The latest in this series of attacks on the free speech rights of pro-life groups comes from Delaware&comma; the home state of Joe Biden&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">On Sunday &lpar;February 16&rpar;&comma; <em>Just the News<&sol;em> reported that the pro-life non-profit A Door of Hope filed a First Amendment lawsuit against Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings&period; The lawsuit challenges a Delaware state law that selectively censors pro-life pregnancy centers&period; The law SB 300&comma; signed in September last year and taking effect next month &lpar;March 2025&rpar;&comma; selectively applies &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;compelled speech requirements” only to pro-life pregnancy care centers&period; Thus the law in effect would force these centers to lie and it also bans their ads&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">The story added that the DE law is very similar to a California law that was blocked by the Supreme Court following a legal challenge by the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates &lpar;NIFLA&rpar;&period; Another such law passed in the blue state of Illinois was called &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;stupid and very likely unconstitutional” by a conservative judge&comma; ending up in a settlement in December 2023&period; Vermont and New York have also targeted pro-life organizations through similar laws&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Since the infamous pro-abortion law Roe v&period; Wade of 1973 was overturned in June 2022 by the conservative Supreme Court&comma; legislation rights on abortion have been returned to the states&period; On Friday &lpar;February 21&rpar;&comma; <em>LifeSite News<&sol;em> reported new research by Johns Hopkins University’s Bloomberg School of Public Health&comma; which found that the overturning of <em>Roe<&sol;em> led to the birth of over 22&comma;000 more babies in 14 states that restricted abortion&period; The story added&colon;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph"><em>The number of babies saved doesn’t include those born in 2024 or 2025&comma; nor does it take into account more recent abortion bans in several states&comma; such as Indiana&comma; Florida&comma; Iowa&comma; and South Carolina&comma; meaning that the total figure is likely much higher&period;<&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Meanwhile&comma; the Democrats continue to fight abortion laws in red states via lawsuits as well as putting the abortion issue on the ballot in every election cycle&period; The past week&comma; <em>Florida Politics<&sol;em> reported that Democrat lawmakers in the Florida State Senate filed a bill – SB 870 – to replace the state’s current abortion ban of six weeks with up to 6 months into pregnancy&period; The move&comma; likely to fail in the Republican-led legislature&comma; comes after the Democrats failed to get enough public votes in November 2024 to overturn the state law restricting abortion after six weeks into pregnancy&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
