CNN's Cuomo: The Government Gives us Rights, Not God
While debating Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore regarding whether federal courts can force the states to accept gay marriage, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo declared that our rights are gifts from the government rather than bestowed by God. He has come under fire for this statement, as many people object to the idea that humans have no ‘natural’ rights, but only what the government chooses to give us. Cuomo argued that our rights come from man and what we as a society agree on. Many have pointed out that the very first sentence of our Declaration of Independence reads, ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.’
It can be implied that Cuomo’s political philosopy is that a small, select group of people have absolute control over what rights are afforded others, says CNS News. Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh was also quick to react, pointing out that Cuomo’s claim directly contradicts our Declaration of Independence.
Hannah, I have read your article about the Cuomo’s remarks. I, first as a citizen of this wonderful country and a conservative Republican as well as a devout Christian…I find his remarks very insulting to all of us who BELIEVE in the fact that it is truly GOD who has endowed us , blessed us due to the fact that we are ONE NATION under God. Many like Cuomo, believe that it is the Democrat congressional that decides what is good for all of us! NO WAY….I disagree with all that they are proposing in this so-called GREEN DEAL; the Vegan project ; and the discarding Our Lord’s name in the swearing in process. They were able to get thru congress the most two HORRIBLE LAWS (Abortion and Same-sex marriage) that are in direct disbelief of our Nation’s Principles. Our Country today is because they have succeeded thus far in their attempt to make us a socialist country….NOT ANYMORE… we will fight them tooth and nail …and as long as Trump is our President followed by other Presidents (Republicans/Conservative), GOD will not allow it to happen as long as we stand and fight back~~~ HEAR YE~~
