As Administration’s Tone Shifts First Lady Calls for Calm in Minneapolis
As the White House’s rhetoric seems to have softened somewhat, First Lady Melania Trump has called for “‘unity” in Minneapolis and urges anti-ICE demonstrators to “protest in peace.”
“We need to unify. I’m calling for unity,” she told Fox News.”
Melania issued the plea a day after President Trump revealed he’d had “very good” calls with Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey amid the escalating violence over the killing of protester Alex Pretti at the hands of Border Patrol agents.
“I know my husband, the president, had a great call yesterday with the governor and the mayor, and they’re working together to make it peaceful and without riots,” Melania confirmed. “I’m against the violence.”
“Please, if we protest, protest in peace and we need to unify in these times,” she continued.
The First Lady’s comments come after husband, President Trump shifted toward a more conciliatory approach with the state’s Democratic leaders following an outcry over the second fatal shooting by federal agents there this month.
Trump also announced that border czar Tom Homan was headed Minnesota to replace Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who has come under fire for her extreme measures cracking down on immigration.
Meanwhile there has been new reporting that Alex Pretti, the ICU nurse gunned down at the center of the current civil unrest was known to the feds and suffered a broken rib in a violent confrontation with agents a week before Border Patrol officers killed him in Minneapolis.
Federal immigration officers had documented details about Pretti, along with other anti-ICE protesters in Minneapolis in recent weeks, CNN reported.
A memo sent this month to agents dispatched to the city asked them to “capture all images, license plates, identifications, and general information on hotels, agitators, protestors, etc., so we can capture it all in one consolidated form,” the network reported.
Although Pretti’s name was known to federal agents, according to the source, it isn’t known whether his information had been shared via the new intake form.
It also isn’t clear whether Pretti recognized or was recognized by the federal agents he confronted in Minneapolis on Saturday.

Bill, I’ve been pretty kid gloves on your attempts at journalism, given they are entirely adequate. I have to ask, what the f is wrong with you on this one. He’s reportedly a good guy, an ICU nurse for vets no less, helps others often, is charitable, loves the outdoors and environment, and even likes his 2A rights. Now you hype Melania Trump asking protestors to play nice, but not ICE. They are using facial recognition now, with AI to God knows what databases, to go a knock, knock, knocking on protestors doors. Bill lies to shade the truth and lies to spin Pretti as violent. If ICE knew Pretti had a broken rib, why the scrum attack? Yeah, they really are that mean, that low.

Kind of guys who pump bullets into backs or faces if feeling a bit peevish. Yeah baby, gotta jump on those violent lesbians and nurses before they spin out of control, oh yeah.

In terms of Pretti’s previous violent encounter as Bill labels it, according to CNN: “In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security said that “DHS law enforcement has no record of this incident.” Bill looked right at this when he read the CNN story and he edited it out. Have you no shame, sir, no shame at all.
