USDA warns people not to take livestock medicine
I went to our local feed store to buy deworming medication for our horses earlier this year and they were sold out of my preferred brand.
“We haven’t been able to keep Ivermectin on the shelves since the pandemic began,” explained the salesman. “People on social media think that it cures Covid, so it just flies off the shelves.”
At the time, I thought it was a weird trend that would quickly blow over like all the other Facebook fads. Has anyone drank bleach lately or ate Tide pods? Didn’t think so. I assumed that people who were ingesting Ivermectin horse de-wormers, which comes in a paste or tablet form and is available in plain or apple flavors, would realize that a medicine meant to cure livestock parasites wouldn’t do much for human respiratory diseases. I bought deworming granules to mix with my horses’ feed and didn’t think much more about it.
Fast forward to six months later, and now health officials are issuing public warnings that people should stop taking ivermectin to treat Covid symptoms. Mississippi residents in particular were calling poison control hotlines in such large numbers that the health department stepped in with some timely advice.
“There are approved uses for ivermectin in both people and animals. Patients should be advised to not take any medications intended to treat animals and should be instructed to only take ivermectin as prescribed by their physician,” the Mississippi State Department of Health said in an alert. “Animal drugs are highly concentrated for large animals and can be highly toxic in humans. Some of the symptoms associated with ivermectin toxicity include rash, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, neurologic disorders, and potentially severe hepatitis requiring hospitalization.”
It’s a dosage issue, it’s a cross-species issue, and now it’s a national (maybe just Southern?) health issue.
85% of recent callers experienced mild symptoms, but one person was instructed to seek further evaluation due to the amount of ivermectin they had reportedly taken.
The US Food & Drug Administration (USDA) tweeted on Saturday: “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.”
Although Ivermectin is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat intestinal complications caused by parasitic worms and for topical use to treat head lice and rosacea in humans, the dosage in each tablet or gram of paste varies drastically from horses to humans. Ivermectin is not currently approved by the FDA for use in humans to prevent or cure Covid-19.
Which is good news, because my horses are due for their next round of deworming. And they’re going to really upset if all those people in Mississippi took all the apple flavored paste again.

Your article about Ivermectin and it’s uses leaves out a lot of important information. There are many studies on it’s use as prophylaxis and treatment for many parasites and virus’s that affect humans around the world, to include the corona virus that causes COVID19. It is very irresponsible to write an article that may deter people from using an effective tool that is proven to save lives. The dosages for humans are very different than animals and people should be advised to discuss it with their doctor, who should be allowed to prescribe medication for their patients as they determine, not what the FDA determines.

You guys are fucking crazy… A study out of South America, where it’s being used for treatment of something or other, showed that it resulted in sterility and reduction of sperm count. Just get the fucking vaccine!

Ivermectin is going in the same direction as hydroxychloroquin I guess. I’ve read articles written by Israeli scientists and doctors claiming that Ivermectin is a very efficient cure for COVID, but then I once read where President Trump suggested the use of hydroxychloroquin to cure COVID and in doing so, he guaranteed it would never be used for that purpose. Only after 600,000 people died and Trump was gone did the CDC say that HCQ was an efficient cure for COVID. Isn’t it a bitch when politics invade the realm of medicine?
But the REAL question is, do alternative treatments that involve Ivermectin and Hydroxichloroquin have positive results in treating this disease? A number of poor countries such as India (four billion doses) say in the affirmative. Are they not being truthful? Fair question I think. Does no one see the correlation of big pharma and big money, driving away any sensible alternative? And even vaccinated folks are STILL getting the disease. I no longer believe or trust ANYTHING my so called government says. Those who believe otherwise are free to do so. I’ve lived too long, fought in too many combat actions and seen how corrupt and bereft of honor our so-called leaders are.

The horse dewormer in question is made by… wait for it… big Farma , Merk. Regardless, they are getting your money. But for some reason, Merk has asked the public not to take medicine designed for farm animals.
Wherever did you get that information? It is FALSE. First of all, there are 1.3 billion people in India, which means that every man, woman, and child would have had to take 3 doses of Ivermectin and Hydroxichloroquin. They’ve had 33 million cases and close to a half-million deaths, pretty close behind the US.
The report about I & H use came after a drop in cases corresponding to vaccination, which also came after a huge rise in infections. Just because something correlates doesn’t mean they’re related.

I personally took doctor prescribed Ivermectin and so did my brother. It literally cured us in 24 hours. This article should clarify that the drug does work when given a proper prescription.
Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham have all mentioned the possibility of this drug’s use in treatment of covid. Cha-ching, ratings go up.
What’s funnier than people ingesting this stuff is the fact they won’t ingest the vaccine as over 2 billion humans are fully vaccinated and over 5 billion doses have been administered with far less damage than taking livestock meds. All of these FOX people are vaccinated. Sheep are actually smarter than this.
