2020 Elections: What are the Dems Saying?

If nothing else, the 2020 primaries are sure going to be entertaining. Here’s a snapshot of what Democratic candidates are promising voters:

Andrew Yang, an American entrepreneur, wants to give all Americans $1,000 per month and plans to tour all 50 states via hologram.

Pete Buttigieg, an openly-gay politician from Indiana, wants to eliminate the Electoral College and add six justices to the Supreme Court. He supports DACA and is open to the idea of mandatory military service for all US citizens starting at age 18.

Eric Swalwell is a California lawmaker who wants to create a federal committee to handle reparations. This week, he described slavery as an “original sin” that “we’ve not wholly and rightfully dealt with.” 

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is promising voters exactly what he promised them last time: free everything. 

Beto O’Rourke is a Texas lawmaker and advocate for illegal immigrants who recently described Trump’s immigration policies as “the greatest cruelty and inhumanity in this country’s history.” O’Rourke supports strict gun control laws, Medicare for All, and the Green New Deal.

Holding similar views is New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, a con artist (in our humble opinion…) who successfully increased the city’s minimum wage to $15. De Blasio believes abortion is a right, but gun ownership is not. He wants to take $5 billion from big oil to invest in renewable energy. In New York, he wants to ban styrofoam and increase the number of people who bike to work. 

Next up is New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, who supports Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. He is pro-choice and wants to legalize marijuana at the federal level.

Even less interesting than Booker is Washington State Governor Jay Inslee, a pro-choice environmentalist who recently signed a law allowing human composting as an alternative to burial and cremation.

And even less interesting than Inslee is New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a feminist and longtime Hillary Clinton ally who blames voters’ lack of interest in her campaign on her gender. She is polling at less than 1%.

With all the crazy ideas out there, it’s no surprise that “Sleepy Joe” Biden is in the lead. All he wants to do rescue the “soul of the nation” from Donald Trump.
