Why Rubio Regrets Hitting Trump Below the Belt

They say that the republican debates have been “heated” would be a total understatement. Trump doesn’t apologize for his brutal honestly. This is often what people admire about him.

Rubio, however, has recently stated that he was disappointed that he made things personal, specifically with his presidential rival, Donald Trump. “In terms of things that have to do with personal stuff, yeah, at the end of the day it’s not something I’m entirely proud of,” said Rubio to MSNBC’s Chuck Todd in a town hall meeting. “My kids were embarrassed by it — and if I had to do it again, I wouldn’t.”

He further expressed his regret to Fox News. “I’m not telling you he didn’t deserve it, but that’s not who I am and that’s not what I want to be,” said Rubio to Megyn Kelly of Fox News. “I want to be a good example, I want my kids to be proud of me, and I don’t think it reflected well on my faith.” Yet, there was no real apology.

Some of these personal attacks including calling Trump a “con artist” and mocking his physical appearance by poking at his hair and “small hands.”

This below the belt behavior may be attributing to why he has had such a poor campaign trail lately. He has yet to win a state since these he has taken on this insulting approach. Nonetheless, he still has underperformed in pretty much every caucus except for Minnesota and Puerto Rico. Not to mention, recent Florida polls predict that he won’t win his home state. Instead, Trump is excepted to take the Sunshine State next Tuesday.

Although, Rubio has vowed to steer clear of personal attacks, he is back to his old tricks by attacking Trump on policy issues, while claiming he is not a real conservative.

So, will there ever be a partnership that will bring this bickering duo together? When Rubio drops out of the presidential race, he will be on the lookout for a new venture. Is vice president in his cards? Not likely. “I’m not looking to be anyone’s vice president,” said Rubio to MSNBC.
