<p>I am still laughing at an incredible (literally) piece of political mail I received recently. The folks who sent it apparently think that I – and all those others to whom they sent this communication – are among the most ignorant and gullible people on earth.</p>
<p>The letter was from something called the Center for Voter Information. In the description at the bottom it states, “Paid for by Center for Voter Information, <strong><a href="http://www.centerforvoterinformation.org">centerforvoterinformation.org</a></strong>, and not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.” They informed me that we voters “need to decide whether to elect Donald Trump for four more years or to elect Joe Biden.” Well duh!</p>
<p>In the opening paragraph, it reminds us that it is “… our duty to be informed about both candidates.” That sounds right.</p>
<p>The Center assures us that they are only concerned with providing “election information about issues important to voters, such as respecting the rule of law and maintaining law and order.” Who can disagree with that?</p>
<p>In a highlighted box they wrote: <strong>Foreign Influence in Washington: The Founding Fathers knew that foreigners might someday try to infiltrate our government or tempt a president to be disloyal to the American people. </strong>[Hmmm. You can see where this might be heading … eh?] <strong>That’s why the Constitution prohibits presidents from taking any gift of payment from a foreign government.”</strong></p>
<p>In the supposed interest of “informing” voters, the Center claims that Trump “secretly received money from the Saudi, Chinese and Turkish governments” in return for special favors that are “threatening our security.”</p>
<p>Biden, they claim “is committed to restoring the rule of law by enforcing the laws that stop foreign officials from tempting our leaders with bribes. His financial records show that he has not received money from a foreign government and has remained loyal to America.” As a source of that claim, the Center directs the reader to joebiden.com/governmentreform – which is actually a Biden fundraising site. So much for the no-partisan bs. Hmmm. Actually, the Center&#8217;s letter may be … illegal.</p>
<p>Missing in their comparison is the millions upon millions of dollars that Biden had arranged for his son and his son’s company to receive from Ukrainian and Chinese interests. Maybe it was just an oversight on their part.</p>
<p>In the next highlighted box, the Center wrote: <strong>Pardons: Our Founding Fathers entrusted the presidency with the sacred duty to grant pardons to criminals. Their expectation was that pardons were to be used rarely in order to preserve the rule of law.”</strong></p>
<p>By now I was wondering who on God’s earth was writing this drivel? Turns out the missive was signed by one Lionel <strong>Dripps</strong>. You just cannot make this stuff up – and doesn’t the name have one “p” too many?</p>
<p>The Center described Trump as “vowing to pardon government employees he told to break our laws” and for reversing the demotion of a Navy Seal who was acquitted of dubious murder charges.</p>
<p>Conversely, the Center claims that Biden “promises to restore respect for the rule of law when offering pardons.” In fact, Trump has given very few pardons and has focused on individuals, such as that black great grandmother Alice Johnson, whose punishment did not seem commensurate with her crime. Trump has not pardoned a single government official.</p>
<p>If you go to the Center’s website, you will be told that the organization is (highlight added) “a non-partisan and non-profit organization that works to provide <strong>even-handed and unbiased information</strong> about candidates and their positions on issues.” That is a lie … a fraud on the voters. This organization is NOT non-partisan. The only issue is whether there are ANY voters as stupid as Dripps and his group believe. Insult is not usually the best form of persuasion.</p>
<p>The letter closed with, “We hope this information is useful? LMAO. No, Dripps, it was not only NOT useful, your attempt at pretending that the Center is not a pro-Biden organization is futile. Any five-year-old – who has not been confined to his room for the past five years – can see through this gimmick</p>
<p>Do you really think that anyone is fooled into believing that the Center is some sort of independent objective source of information? Your communication is not only a fraud on the voters, it is a really bad attempt. It Dripps with incredulity.</p>
