With the Democrats so convinced Joe Biden will defeat President Trump despite countless polls suggesting near-ties, America may be moving towards another upset.

President Trump’s approval rating increased to an average of 48% in six battleground states according to polls released immediately after the abysmal performance that was the Democratic National Convention.

Biden maintains a small lead over Trump in all six states, though the margin is smaller than the lead Hillary Clinton had over Trump in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin in 2016:

Florida: Biden 49%, Trump 46%

Keep in mind Trump has just begun to campaign in earnest and has plenty of money in the bank. President Trump and the RNC raked in $165 million in July – more money than was raised in any single month during his 2016 campaign – compared to Biden and the DNC’s $140 million.

This is a telling reversal from the two previous months, when Biden outpaced Trump by enlisting high-profile proxies to speak on his behalf. Trump halted most in-person fundraising events when quarantine measures went into effect in March.

“The enthusiasm behind President Trump’s reelection continues to grow as July’s massive fundraising totals prove,” says Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien. “Voters express their support for President Trump in many different ways and donating to his campaign is one of the most personal, because they feel invested in his successes and the future success of the country. The President’s support continues to increase while Joe Biden just posted a down fundraising month from his basement.”

President Trump’s campaign entered the month of August with more than $300 million in the bank, compared to Biden’s $294 million. Add all of this to Trump’s increasingly frequent attacks on Biden, and a repeat of 2016 doesn’t seem so farfetched.
