Nobody wins a presidential election without the Buckeye State, and according to Bloomberg’s most recent poll Donald Trump has taken a solid 5-point lead over rival Hillary Clinton (44-39).

These numbers represent a huge increase compared to the end of August, when Trump lagged behind Clinton by 4-5 points. Trump is also gaining in national polls, ;with Real Clear Politics showing Hillary a mere 2.1 points ahead of her rival (45.6-43.5).

Ohio is a key swing state, and Trump’s only roadblock now may be Ohio Governor John Kasich – a former primary rival who refuses to endorse Trump and insists that the billionaire will not take Ohio. ;

Kasich criticizes Trump’s “divisive and inflammatory” rhetoric, arguing that such language will prevent him from winning the state. “He’s going to win parts of Ohio where people are really hurting…but I still think it’s difficult if you are dividing to be able to win Ohio. I think it’s really, really difficult,” Kasich said in August. ;

Kasich, once a rumored VP pick for Trump, ;exemplified his disdain for the billionaire this summer by refusing to attend the Republican National Convention, an event that was held in his own state.

Over the past four weeks Trump has closed the gap nationally, to well within the margin of error. This is a huge swing but Trump still has a lot of work to do to guarantee a win. And who knows what “october suprise” will be waiting?

Editor’s note: This is a 10 point swing in just a few weeks, in light of health issues, gaffs and scandals, Hillary is losing ground rapidly.
