Trump Nominates Amy Coney Barret to be the next Supreme Court Justice

<p>As many predicted base on recent attention by the Administration and the media&comma; Judge Amy Coney Barret has been nominated to replace Ruth Bader Ginsberg who recently passed away&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Judge Barret&comma; 48&comma; was appointed to the 7th Circuit Appeals Court by President Trump on November 2&comma; 2017&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Among her more notable qualifications&comma; she was a clerk to Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scala&comma;  she has been a law professor at George Washington School of Law in DC and then at her Alma Mater Notre Dame&period; She has published work in professional journals the Columbia Law Review&comma; the Cornell Law Review&comma; the Virginia Law Review&comma; the Notre Dame Law Review&comma; and the Texas Law Review&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>President Trump announced last week that he had narrowed the field to five&comma; all women&period; He and the Senate leader Mitch McConnell have set the goal of having her seated as a Supreme Court Justice before the election on November 3&comma; 2020&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>This could be especially important if election fraud manifests either in mail-in votes or other manipulation&period; A decision by the Supreme Court could decide the election&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Democrats have complained that since the Republicans had blocked Obama&&num;8217&semi;s Merrick Garland nomination to allow President Trump to nominate his own&comma; that they should also delay Trump&&num;8217&semi;s nomination until after the election&comma; hoping to give Joe Biden the chance to nominate his own candidate&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>They have &lpar;rightly&rpar; pointed to Republican hypocrisy in that&comma; in 2016&comma; they thought it proper to delay until a new president was elected&period; Now they have changed their tune&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Of course&comma; as seen below&comma; the 2016 Democrats were in favor of having the current President &lpar;Obama at the time&rpar; nominate a candidate and have it voted on&period; Now the shoe is on the other foot&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><amp-facebook data-href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;facebook&period;com&sol;POVnow&sol;videos&sol;630129931027447" layout&equals;"responsive" width&equals;"600" height&equals;"400"><button overflow type&equals;"button">See more<&sol;button><&sol;amp-facebook><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Bottom line&comma; the Constitution says that the current President nominates and the current Senate approves&period; Elections have consequences&period; In 2016&comma; the Obama Administration did not have sufficient votes in the Senate to prevent a delay&period; In 2020&comma; the Trump administration does indeed have enough votes&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>What to Expect<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Given the vehemence of the attacks on the issue of nomination at this time&comma; and the consequence that the approval of this nomination means conservative control of the court for at least a generation&comma; expect one of the worst fights ever&period;  Brett Kavanaugh was the victim of massive attacks from fake witnesses&comma; supported and amplified by a hostile liberal press&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The biggest dig to date is that Barret is a person of faith and she is personally against abortion&period; She will be attacked over and over because of this&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Don&&num;8217&semi;t be surprised if witnesses of some crime or another that she supposedly committed materialize out of thin air&period; Expect the accusations to be heinous and humiliating&period; And false&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>There is about a 10&percnt; possibility that the Democrats will realize this is a losing battle and then will want to get it over with as soon as possible&period; If this happens&comma; it could mean that the Democrats have a massive &&num;8220&semi;October surprise&&num;8221&semi; for Trump for the election&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
