
<p>Imagine living to see the day when President Trump, the leader of the MAGA movement and the hope of millions of conservative Americans, publicly endorses a radical leftist Democrat who, just a few years ago, was known as a killer of thousands of New Yorkers whom he ruled as the governor. But yes, it has happened. Trump today asked New Yorkers to vote for Andrew Cuomo in the mayoral election that is scheduled for Tuesday (November 4). Try to stomach it once you survive this shock!</p>

<p>Trump’s endorsement of Cuomo, the disgraced former governor of New York, for the mayor of New York City is wrong on many levels that one can’t help question the President’s sanity for it. First and foremost, it reeks of a mindset of surrender ahead of a battle, a demoralizing blow to the conservative base in NYC that is set to vote for the Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa. Telling conservatives that they have no choice when they actually have one and instead trying to convince them that their only choice is Cuomo because the other Democrat, Zohran Mamdani, is worse equals surrender to liberalism. It’s the mentality of the quitter and cowardice to give up on your guy and quickly take a side within the opposition.</p>



<p>Secondly, telling New Yorkers that Cuomo is just a Democrat with a “record of success” but Mamdani is a socialist who will destroy the city completely makes one wonder if Trump is in touch with reality. Many of us are old enough to remember how Cuomo was called a “commie” by us conservatives owing to his tyrannical policies that destroyed NYC and other parts of New York in his long 10 years as the state’s governor. It was in his administration that crime and corruption skyrocketed, peaking in the COVID years when his infamous executive order for putting COVID-19 patients in nursing homes led to the death of thousands of elderly residents there.</p>

<p>But now Trump wants people to forget who treated them like slaves and killed their elderly relatives and friends in reckless disregard for their safety during an emergency. In Trump’s world, Cuomo has been upgraded from a commie to a Democrat with a record of success because the top “commie” slot has been assigned to Mamdani, who for some reason is making Republican leaders sweat so much that they will need New York’s icy wind to cool down. Trump’s endorsement of Cuomo is entirely preposterous and so many conservatives are simply not buying it.</p>

<p>The side of the story that makes it rather mockingly embarrassing for Trump is the fact that Cuomo has openly opposed Trump’s clean-up operation by cracking down on illegal aliens. Cuomo posted on X that Mamdani, and not him, will cave to Trump. Conservative commentator Owen Shroyer called it the Twilight Zone stuff as he questioned Trump’s endorsement.</p>

<p>Is it funny or sad to see Trump looking at the mayoral race through a lens of simplicity? Owen has a point there when he asked whether Trump actually means to help Mamdani by endorsing Cuomo. You can take it to the bank that Democrats can’t stand Trump. And what would Democrat voters do when their most hated figure stands with a candidate they are thinking of voting for? The obvious conclusion is they vote for the other candidate. And the candidate he endorsed is already trying to distance himself from Trump, because he is smart enough to know the consequences at the ballot.</p>



<p>From whichever angle you see Trump’s endorsement of Cuomo, there is only damage and chaos for the MAGA base. The awkwardness for Trump’s base is likely to last long after the NYC mayoral election much like radiation sickness following a nuclear test near some population.</p>
