Controversial Representative Jasmine Crockett has jumped into the Texas Senate race shaking up the Democratic primary mere hours before the filing deadline.

The far-left firebrand will challenge Texas state Rep. James Talarico (D-Austin) for Sen. John Cornyn’s (R-Texas) seat in the upper chamber, announcing her campaign the day congressional candidates had to formally file paperwork.

In her campaign launch video, Crockett doesn’t say a word as the camera holds steady on her face. Rather, it stars the voice of President Trump calling Crockett the “new star of the Democrat Party” and a “very low IQ person.”

“There’s a reason Trump always has my name in his mouth,” Crockett said in her campaign-launch speech about an hour after posting the video. “… I believe that’s because Trump has seen the same numbers I have: I have a track record of getting people out to vote, moving people who are disillusioned with politics and felt like their vote didn’t matter.”

Yet Republicans were gleeful about her entry into the race, dubbing her too far left for the state and more beatable in a general election.

“I think she [will win] the Democratic primary, and she’s the worst possible candidate they could have in Texas,” Cornyn said, per Fox News. “She’s unelectable.”

The race has already proved to be a hot one, Talarico previously made headlines ;for racking up a record $6.2 million in the first three weeks after announcing his campaign in September.

The addition of a national name like Crockett’s adds new energy to Democrats’ long-shot bid to flip the state blue, as Cornyn has held the Senate seat since 2002.

“If Texas were so red, they wouldn’t be so pressed to silence our voices,” Crockett warned, alleging that prior Democratic strategies failed because they were not hers.

“Y’all ain’t never tried it the JC way.”

Cornyn already faces a competitive primary against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Rep. Wesley Hunt.

Crockett, 44, jumped into the race just hours after ex-Rep. Colin Allred ditched his own Democratic bid and decided to try clawing his way back into the House instead.

She’ll face off in a March 3 primary against Talarico, a former teacher-turned-rising liberal star whose viral rants against GOP moves like private school vouchers and Ten Commandments-in-classroom mandates have caught national attention. ;

Republican rule of the Senate hinges on ensuring Democrats don’t pick up another four seats in the chamber.

Working in the GOP’s favor, most of the seats up for reelection belong to senators of states that Trump won in 2024.

Crockett has ;garnered national headlines for her abrasive personality, both with fellow lawmakers in congressional hearings and behind closed doors, notably laughing off accusations in August that she was a no-show boss from hell.

Multiple former staffers and aides told The Post that month that the Dallas-area rep is “rude,” a “diva,” “screams” at employees and rarely comes into the office.

“She is focused almost exclusively on being an influencer, not a member of Congress,” a source said at the time.

Confronted with the reporting, Crockett told CBS at the time that the criticism meant “that I have arrived, honey.”

;National Republican Senatorial Committee Joanna Gonzalez, in a statement to the press after Crockett announced her Senate bid, charged that “Jasmine Crockett leading her primary is the latest sign that the Democrat Party is being run by radical leftists.”

PB Editor: This will be a telling race. The odds of beating Cornyn are low, but the primaries will be telling as to whether the Democrats choose a more mainstream common sense guy in Talarico or a flaming radical in Jasmine Crockett. Anyone taking bets?
