
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Congressional committees in both the House and Senate are supposed to hold “hearings.” That is what they call them. The very word implies a desire to “hear” from officeholders, experts, and witnesses. It suggests lawmakers might actually want answers to their questions, insights into policy, and a genuine exchange of ideas – even in the spirit of civil disagreement.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Weeell&#8230; that’s not what congressional Democrats are engaged in these days. Not even close. These spectacles have devolved into taxpayer-funded therapy sessions where the far-left wing of the Democrat Party vents its endless rage. They mount attacks on Trump by proxy. They don’t want to hear from witnesses. They want to berate them, lecture them, and score cheap political points for the evening news. Threadbare talking points, recycled conspiracy theories, and unhinged accusations fly like confetti at a circus. The last thing on their minds is actual dialogue.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Instead of inquiry, we get angry monologues. Witnesses are treated like defendants in some Soviet show trial. Democrats “claim their time” not to ask questions, but to filibuster on political grievance. If a witness dares to respond, they’re rudely cut off. “Reclaiming my time!” becomes the battle cry from legislators while the clock runs out on truth. It is less of a “hearing” and more a hazing—a ritual humiliation for anyone associated with the Trump administration. It is Trump Derangement Syndrome on full display.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Take the latest embarrassing episode with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. During a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, California Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove went full inquisitor, hurling accusations and refusing to let Rubio respond. Rubio, ever the gentleman, repeatedly begged for the floor, “Am I going to be allowed to answer?” He turned to the chair in exasperation, asking the obvious: “Why am I here if you don’t want to hear from me?” Kamlager-Dove, apparently allergic to facts that didn’t fit her narrative, eventually stormed out in a huff while Rubio was mid-response. Rubio quipped that it felt more like a carnival “dunk tank” than a hearing.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rubio is a favorite piñata for the TDS crowd, perhaps because he is a sharp, articulate conservative and a potential 2028 contender. Senators like Chris Van Hollen and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro have taken their turns pummeling him with irrelevant grievances about Trump’s past. Even Rep. Sarah McBride, the transgender Democrat, has joined the pile-on. Rather than an adult policy debate, it is a one-sided partisan blood sport.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rubio is not alone. And let us not forget Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. During his hearings, Democrats turned the Senate Armed Services Committee into a circus of character assassination. They dredged up every old allegation, every Fox News clip, and every personal smear they could find. Sen. Elissa Slotkin and others hammereed Hegseth on everything from military culture, war plans and his general competence – but not with questions, but rather with withering ad hominem attacks.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Then there’s Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Secretary of Health and Human Services. Democrats could not contain their hysteria over his skepticism on certain public health orthodoxies. In Ways and Means and other hearings, they badgered him relentlessly on vaccines, budgets, and fraud investigations. Rep. Linda Sánchez and others read him the riot act, accusing him of endangering lives while ignoring the bureaucratic bloat and failures of the old regime. Kennedy fired back. When witnesses challenge the Democrat sacred cows, they do not debate. They demonize.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The low point? Texas Democrat Rep. Al Green telling Acting Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin to “shut up”—repeatedly—during a heated exchange. Mullin had the audacity to defend himself against being called a racist. Green’s response? “Shut up, up, up, up. Shut up. It’s my time.” This from the party that lectures us endlessly about “democracy” and “civility.” Imagine if a Republican did that to a Biden-era official. The media would call it an assault on norms. Here? Crickets.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This behavior is not new, but Trump Derangement Syndrome has supercharged it. Democrats act like cornered animals because the American people rejected their agenda in 2024. Their “resistance” now consists of turning every hearing into a cable TV rant against Trump. Old grievances about January 6, “threats to democracy,” and phantom scandals get airtime while real issues—border security, inflation, endless wars—get ignored.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">These hearings reveal the rot at the heart of today’s Democrat Party. They have no vision, no solutions, only outrage. Witnesses like Rubio, Hegseth, and Kennedy come prepared with facts and policy expertise. Democrats come armed with scripted diatribes and a five-minute timer to avoid accountability. They claim the mantle of oversight while practicing obstruction.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It is not about accountable. In hearings, there is ample time for dialogue and disagreement. What we see today, however, is petty and profoundly unserious. The American people see through it. This isn’t governance. It is performative politics for the progressive base.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Congressional Democrats need a reality check. Hearings are meant to inform policy, not feed partisan vendettas. Until they drop the Trump obsession and start acting like legislators instead of activists, these sessions will remain exactly what they are today &#8212; pathetic displays of unhinged political rhetoric.</p>
