Transgender Lesson Kindergarten Class? Parents Outraged!

<p class&equals;"MsoNormal" style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;" align&equals;"center">On Monday&comma; a group of outraged parents attended a school board meeting after learning that a California teacher had been reading transgender books to her kindergarten students&period; She also had them participate in a transgender demonstration&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">Earlier in the summer&comma; the teacher read two transgenderism books out loud and then instructed each student to select their &ldquo&semi;true identity&rdquo&semi; in front of the class by picking what clothes they want to wear&period; One of the transgender students revealed her &ldquo&semi;true gender&rdquo&semi; in front of the other children&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">The parents feel that it&rsquo&semi;s unacceptable that Rocklin Academy school board didn&rsquo&semi;t alert them of this lesson in advance&period; &nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">&&num;8220&semi;These parents feel betrayed by the school district that they were not notified&comma;&&num;8221&semi; said Karen England with the Capitol Resource Institute&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">At the school board meeting&comma; the teacher defended her actions in front of the disgruntled parents&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">&&num;8220&semi;I&&num;8217&semi;m so proud of my students&comma; it was never my intent to harm any students but to help them through a difficult situation&comma;&&num;8221&semi; said the teacher&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">She was given the books from a past transgender student who was going through a transition&period; &nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">However&comma; her actions left several of the students confused&period; &nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">&&num;8220&semi;The kindergartners came home very confused&comma; about whether or not you can pick your gender&comma; whether or not they really were a boy or a girl&comma;&&num;8221&semi;&nbsp&semi;said England&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">Some of the parents felt that it wasn&rsquo&semi;t the teacher or the school&rsquo&semi;s place to try to educate their children in this manner&period; &nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">&&num;8220&semi;I want her to hear from me as a parent what her gender identity means to her and our family&comma; not from a book that may be controversial&comma;&&num;8221&semi; said one parent&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">&&num;8220&semi;My daughter came home crying and shaking so afraid she could turn into a boy&comma;&&num;8221&semi;&nbsp&semi;said another parent&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">&&num;8220&semi;It&&num;8217&semi;s really about the parents being informed and involved and giving us the choice and rights of what&&num;8217&semi;s being introduced to our kids&comma; and at what age&comma;&&num;8221&semi;&nbsp&semi;said Chelsea McQuistan&comma; another parent&period; &nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">While some of the other parents and fellow teachers defended the transgender lesson&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">&&num;8220&semi;When we head in the direction of banned books or book lists&comma; or selective literature &ndash&semi; that should only be read inside or outside the classroom&comma; I think that&&num;8217&semi;s a very dangerous direction to go&comma;&&num;8221&semi;&nbsp&semi;said Kelly Bryson&comma; a 7th grade teacher at Rocklin Academy&period; &nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">&&num;8220&semi;It was so precious to see that he had absolutely no prejudice in his body&period; My child just went in there and listened to the story&comma; and didn&&num;8217&semi;t relate it to anything malicious&comma; or didn&&num;8217&semi;t question his own body&comma;&&num;8221&semi;&nbsp&semi;said one parent&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">Because of the parent&rsquo&semi;s outrage&comma; the district said that it will discuss with parents when outside curriculum books are to be incorporated into a lesson&period; &nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">&&num;8220&semi;As indicated by Superintendent Robin Stout in a communication last week&comma; staff will be engaging parents and teachers in discussions about how materials outside our curriculum will be addressed in the future&comma;&rdquo&semi; said the district in a statement at the board meeting&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal"><strong>Author&rsquo&semi;s note&colon;<&sol;strong> This teacher should be fired&period; She had no right to force &lpar;or attempt to brainwash&rpar; her views on transgenderism to children at an especially delicate age&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal"><strong>Editor&&num;8217&semi;s note<&sol;strong>&colon;
