<p class="MsoNormal">The former Republican presidential candidate, Ted Cruz released a 741-word Facebook post last Friday saying he intends to vote for the Republican nominee Donald J. Trump.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">&ldquo;After many months of careful consideration, of prayer and searching my own conscience, I have decided that on Election Day, I will vote for the Republican nominee, Donald Trump,&rdquo; wrote Cruz on the Facebook post.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Even though Cruz and Trump had a tumultuous relationship while rivals, Cruz cited multiple valid reasons for his decision.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve made this decision for two reasons. First, last year, I promised to support the Republican nominee. And I intend to keep my word. Second, even though I have had areas of significant disagreement with our nominee, by any measure Hillary Clinton is wholly unacceptable &mdash; that&rsquo;s why I have always been ;#NeverHillary,&rdquo; wrote Cruz.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He also said if &#8220;you don&#8217;t want to see a Hillary Clinton presidency, I encourage you to vote for him.&#8221;<br style="mso-special-character: line-break;" /> <!--[endif]--></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He then gave a long list of explanations for why he disagrees so strongly with Clinton.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The first reason being the Supreme Court. &ldquo;For anyone concerned about the Bill of Rights &mdash; free speech, religious liberty, the Second Amendment &mdash; the Court hangs in the balance&hellip; We are only one justice away from losing our most basic rights, and the next president will appoint as many as four new justices. We know, without a doubt, that every Clinton appointee would be a left-wing ideologue. Trump, in contrast, has promised to appoint justices &ldquo;in the mold of Scalia,&rdquo; wrote Cruz. ;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Other reasons included&ndash; Obamacare and the failure of a system it is, energy and how Clinton would only continue Obama&rsquo;s war on coal, immigration and how this lawless amnesty has to stop, national security and how Clinton would not take the necessary measures to stop radical Islamic terrorism from entering the US, and lastly internet freedom and how Clinton supports a plan to hand over control of the internet. <p class="MsoNormal">Following Cruz&rsquo; endorsement, Trump said he was &#8220;greatly honored by the endorsement of Senator Cruz.&rdquo;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Then Trump was complimentary to his former adversary applauding his campaign efforts. &#8220;We have fought the battle and he was a tough and brilliant opponent,&rdquo; said Trump. &#8220;I look forward to working with him for many years to come in order to make America great again.&#8221;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">As for previous insults, Cruz has stated, &ldquo;Heidi and my dad and I, we talked about it and we made a decision together &mdash; that we are going to choose to forgive him.&rdquo; ;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Senator&#8217;s stubborness from the end of the primaries, through the convention and to present have damaged his reputation, especially in his home constituency in Texas. In fact, <a href="https://punchingbagpost.com/former-gov-rick-perry-could-challenge-ted-cruz/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Rick Perry is floating a run</strong></a> for Senate to unseat Cruz.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Reince Priebus also made veiled threats to withdraw RNC support for the &#8216;never trump&#8217; crowd. These were aimed in particular at Cruz John Kasich and Jeb Bush who pledged support for the eventual nominee and then reneged when Trump became the nominee.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">At this point it is not clear how much damage was done to Cruz&#8217;s political career. But his next election is two years away, he has plenty of time for the voters to forget.</p>
