The Many Reasons Cruz Will Be Voting for Trump

<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">The former Republican presidential candidate&comma; Ted Cruz released a 741-word Facebook post last Friday saying he intends to vote for the Republican nominee Donald J&period; Trump&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">&ldquo&semi;After many months of careful consideration&comma; of prayer and searching my own conscience&comma; I have decided that on Election Day&comma; I will vote for the Republican nominee&comma; Donald Trump&comma;&rdquo&semi; wrote Cruz on the Facebook post&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">Even though Cruz and Trump had a tumultuous relationship while rivals&comma; Cruz cited multiple valid reasons for his decision&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">&ldquo&semi;I&rsquo&semi;ve made this decision for two reasons&period; First&comma; last year&comma; I promised to support the Republican nominee&period; And I intend to keep my word&period; Second&comma; even though I have had areas of significant disagreement with our nominee&comma; by any measure Hillary Clinton is wholly unacceptable &mdash&semi; that&rsquo&semi;s why I have always been&nbsp&semi;&num;NeverHillary&comma;&rdquo&semi; wrote Cruz&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">He also said if &&num;8220&semi;you don&&num;8217&semi;t want to see a Hillary Clinton presidency&comma; I encourage you to vote for him&period;&&num;8221&semi;<br style&equals;"mso-special-character&colon; line-break&semi;" &sol;> <&excl;--&lbrack;endif&rsqb;--><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">He then gave a long list of explanations for why he disagrees so strongly with Clinton&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">The first reason being the Supreme Court&period; &ldquo&semi;For anyone concerned about the Bill of Rights &mdash&semi; free speech&comma; religious liberty&comma; the Second Amendment &mdash&semi; the Court hangs in the balance&hellip&semi; We are only one justice away from losing our most basic rights&comma; and the next president will appoint as many as four new justices&period; We know&comma; without a doubt&comma; that every Clinton appointee would be a left-wing ideologue&period; Trump&comma; in contrast&comma; has promised to appoint justices &ldquo&semi;in the mold of Scalia&comma;&rdquo&semi; wrote Cruz&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">Other reasons included&ndash&semi; Obamacare and the failure of a system it is&comma; energy and how Clinton would only continue Obama&rsquo&semi;s war on coal&comma; immigration and how this lawless amnesty has to stop&comma; national security and how Clinton would not take the necessary measures to stop radical Islamic terrorism from entering the US&comma; and lastly internet freedom and how Clinton supports a plan to hand over control of the internet&period; Read the entire post below&period; &nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">Following Cruz&rsquo&semi; endorsement&comma; Trump said he was &&num;8220&semi;greatly honored by the endorsement of Senator Cruz&period;&rdquo&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">Then Trump was complimentary to his former adversary applauding his campaign efforts&period; &&num;8220&semi;We have fought the battle and he was a tough and brilliant opponent&comma;&rdquo&semi; said Trump&period; &&num;8220&semi;I look forward to working with him for many years to come in order to make America great again&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">As for previous insults&comma; Cruz has stated&comma; &ldquo&semi;Heidi and my dad and I&comma; we talked about it and we made a decision together &mdash&semi; that we are going to choose to forgive him&period;&rdquo&semi;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">Senator&&num;8217&semi;s stubborness from the end of the primaries&comma; through the convention and to present have damaged his reputation&comma; especially in his home constituency in Texas&period; In fact&comma; <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;punchingbagpost&period;com&sol;former-gov-rick-perry-could-challenge-ted-cruz&sol;" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank" rel&equals;"noopener"><strong>Rick Perry is floating a run<&sol;strong><&sol;a> for Senate to unseat Cruz&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">Reince Priebus also made veiled threats to withdraw RNC support for the &&num;8216&semi;never trump&&num;8217&semi; crowd&period; These were aimed in particular at Cruz John Kasich and Jeb Bush who pledged support for the eventual nominee and then reneged when Trump became the nominee&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"MsoNormal">At this point it is not clear how much damage was done to Cruz&&num;8217&semi;s political career&period; But his next election is two years away&comma; he has plenty of time for the voters to forget&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
