The Dysfunctional Siblings of Paul Gosar

Gosar Siblings Ad

Paul Gosar is a Republican United States congressman.  He has served in House for 10 years.  He has a reputation for quick quips – and occasionally provocative statements.  But he is not as outrageous as the Republican-hating press tries to make him – with the help of several of his siblings.

It is not his relationship with the elitist news media that is the most interesting aspect of the Congressman’s life.  It is his relationship with his siblings – a least six of the nine.  To put it quite bluntly, they HATE him.  I mean really hate him.  Ever since Paul Gosar successfully ran for Congress, several of his brothers and sisters have been unrelenting in their vicious ad hominem attacks on the guy.  It has become their raison d’être.

This is much more than political disagreement.  This is visceral.

And this is not the first time I have written about this uniquely dysfunctional political family.  In past elections, several of his siblings did more than refuse to support his candidacy. They endorsed his opponents – participating in attack ads and appearing on any program that would have them.

Gosar’s sister, Jennifer, recently appeared on CNN with Anderson Cooper.  She said her brother’s opinions and statements are “despicable” and even “criminal.”

She also accused Congress of being derelict in its duty if Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not initiate an ethics investigation of her brother.

In more than a slight bit of hyperbole, Jennifer says that “There is no one member of Congress more responsible for the attack on the Capitol than Congressman Paul Gosar.”

Another of the alienated siblings said that the election of Congressman Gosar’s Democrat opponents was “a moral imperative.”

David Gosar said that his brother Paul is “just hoping either in this election cycle or next, the people get the idea that he’s just not fit for that office, and he needs to be removed.”

Gosar’s Democrat opponent, Dr. David Brill, released videos of the family members attacking the congressman with platitudes short on specifics.  Brill said that there will be more videos featuring the Gosar family malcontents.  That should come as no surprise because most of those siblings critical of Paul support the radical left-wing agenda.  But even those political differences cannot explain their all-consuming hatred.

The Congressman noted that his family critics are all Democrats who were supporting the election of Hillary Clinton in 2016.

The anger over that loss appears to have sent the siblings into a frustrated state of hyper hatred against Trump and Republicans – including (especially) their own brother.

The name of one of the videos released by Brill was, “A Family Defends Its Honor.”

In that video, David laments that the decision to endorse Brill was “not easy for any of us.”  It was “difficult,” “horrible” and “sad.”  That does not square with his and the other Paul-hating siblings’ ten-year history of attacking their brother and supporting opponents at every turn.

But that video not only attacks the honor of brother Paul, but the Gosar parents as well.    So, what do the parents think of the open animosity directed at Paul by six of their other Children?  When interviewed by the New York Times, 85-year-old Bernadette Gosar said that she is “shocked” and “crushed.”  Apparently the wayward six do not have a lot of respect for their own elderly mother.

Mama Gosar said that her son, Paul, “has done a hell of a job for Arizona, and they love him.”  Referring to the Congressman Democrat opponent, Bernadette said, “He doesn’t stand a chance.”   Probably not since Paul won re-election in 2020 by more than 70 percent of the vote.

The obsessive hatred of Paul is most evident in brother David, who said he keeps a Twitter account for the sole purpose of attacking his sibling – repeatedly referring to the congressman as a “weasel.”

David may be the most hateful, but the others are not far behind.

Brother Tim said that it is “intervention time” meaning that “you go to vote, and you go to vote Paul out.”

Sister Joan believes that her brother has “traded a lot of the values we had at the kitchen table.”

From what Mama Bernadette has said, it is more arguably that the anti-Paul siblings have drifted away from the table.

In one of the other videos, sister Grace claims that brother Paul “isn’t doing anything to help rural America.”  In one of the many anti-Paul ads in which the siblings have appeared over the years, Grace said, “It would be difficult to see my brother as anything but a racist.”

In their 2021 assault on their brother, the siblings participated in an anti-Paul television ad produced by Republican Accountability Project. Republican Accountability Project is an organization composed of disenchanted Republicans who pursue a rule-or-ruin policy.  So, in other words, the misnamed Republican Accountability Project is using hardcore radical Democrats for its messaging.

In the ad, David raises the rhetorical question, “How would it be just if the rabble pays the consequence, and the ringleaders pay no consequence?”  Brother Tim claims that Paul “… should have criminal consequences, and if he’s found guilty, he should go to jail.”

Members of families having disagreement over politics is not new.  I think most people experience that in their own families – including the families of elected officials.  It is the depth of the familial hatred that is unique and remarkable in the Gosar family – and the poisonous obsession to destroy Paul Gosar the politician and the man by the very people who refer to him as “brother.”

Whatever one might think of Paul Gosar, it is no excuse for the despicable, disgusting and deranged behavior of his siblings.

So, there ‘tis.
