
<p>Democrats involved in criminal activities have been playing a clever political game to help the Democratic Party and drown the GOP in the PR battle – a simple switch of party affiliation. The recent example comes from Minnesota, a state afflicted with Somali immigrants who keep the scandal-ridden Ilhan Omar in the House. The congresswoman’s former ally and long-time Democrat Guhaad Hashi Said pleaded guilty earlier this month to stealing from a federally child nutrition program during the so-called COVID-19 pandemic.</p>



<p>On August 12, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that Guhaad Hashi Said pled guilty to two related counts of wire fraud and money laundering. Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson specifically cited the charges as “one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering for his role in the massive fraud scheme that exploited a federally funded child nutrition program during the COVID-19 pandemic.”</p>



<p>The details of the DOJ release reveal that Said and his co-conspirators ran a scheme from December 2020 through January 2022 to steal millions of dollars from the Federal Child Nutrition Program funds that were meant for serving meals to underprivileged children. Said and his accomplices claimed to have served a million meals to children between March and December 2021. The DOJ wrote:</p>



<p><em>In support of their false claims, Said prepared and submitted fraudulent meal counts, attendance rosters, and invoices.</em></p>



<p>On the whole, Said and his gang of thieves stole nearly $3 million from the federally funded nutrition program for children. His sentencing date was not specified in the DOJ press release, which stated that Said faces up to 25 years in prison for his crimes.</p>



<p>Said is long known for his political activity in the Democratic Party in Minnesota. He has campaigned with Ilhan Omar, who represents the Democratic Party in the House from the state of Minnesota. Thus the news of Said’s guilty plea drew attention to his connection with Omar and prominent conservative accounts on X reminded that Said was known as the “enforcer” for Omar.</p>

<p>But despite being a Democrat asset for decades, Said pulled a notable stunt three years ago when he was first named in the indictments under the Biden administration in September 2022. Of the dozens of the Somali-origin Muslim individuals indicted for fraud, Said’s name was at number 27 as reported in <em>Sahan Journal</em> (September 20, 2022). The next month, Bill Glahn took a look at Said in his article “Feeding Our Future: Who is Guhaad Hashi Said?” published in the <em>American Experiment</em> (October 14, 2022). The story wrote:</p>



<p><em>The first batch of indictments in the Feeding Our Future case were handed down on September 20. By the next day, Hashi, a long-time Democratic activist, had been reborn as a rabid Republican, apparently…. On September 21, this account declared Hashi to be a Republican and posted in support of an upcoming Minnesota Somali-Republican dinner, which he apparently attended.</em> Said was then seen in a picture with a Republican candidate just a few days later. It would appear that Said, either by his own wits or on someone’s advice, made a quick flip to try to stick his now bad name to the Republican side and away from his ow party, particularly from Ilhan Omar who is the party’s long-term choice for the House. Said’s stunt didn’t work because he has continued to be known for his decades of service to the Democratic Party. But it was a sly try by him (the Democrats) to frame the opposite side after getting caught. And of course a note of caution to the Republican side as well.</p>
