Rep. Ilhan Omar (D) was celebrated by voters throughout the country last year when she was elected to represent the state of Minnesota.

Her victory over GOP challenger Jennifer Zielinkski made her the first Somali-America, the first naturalized citizen from Africa, and the first minority woman from Minnesota to serve in Congress. She is also one of the first two Muslim women to serve in Congress.

Instead of setting an example for the minority groups she represents, Ilhan has used her prestige to talk tough on Israel. She also blamed the over-crowding of detention facilities at the US-Mexico border on “white nationalism.”

Rather than denounce her comments, Democrats responded by introducing a resolution to condemn “anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, racism, and other forms of bigotry.” The resolution passed with a vote of 407 to 23.

“While I voted for this, let’s be honest about what it really is – a deceitful way for Dems to give Omar cover,” said Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R), a former Navy SEAL who lost his right eye while fighting in Afghanistan.

Ilhan Omar is under fire again, but this time for anti-American comments related to 9/11.

Speaking at a fundraiser for the Council on American-Muslims Relations (CAIR) last month, Rep. Ilhan Omar described 9/11 as “some people did something.”

CAIR, which is widely believed to be linked with the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, is considered a terrorist organization by the UAE.

“Here’s the truth,” said Ilhan, “far too long we have lived with the discomfort of being a second class citizen. And frankly, I’m tired of it, and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it. CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.”

Her comments caused on explosion on Twitter, with Republicans demanding accountability from the party Ilhan represents.

“Every Democrat should be asked by the media if they disavow Ilhan’s statements,” tweeted Andrew Pollack, whose child was killed in the Parkland high school shooting last year.

“Ilhan Omar isn’t just anti-Semitic, she’s anti-American,” tweeted GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. “Nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives to Islamic terrorists on 9/11, yet Omar dimities it as: ‘Some people did something.’ Democrat leaders need to condemn her brazen display of disrespect.”

“First Member of Congress to ever describe terrorists who killed thousands of Americans on 9/11 as ‘some people who did something,'” tweeted Rep. Crenshaw. “Unbelievable.”
