Popular rapper Killer Mike rocked the stage by bagging three Grammy awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles and immediately afterward rocked the news world as he got arrested at the event and was led out in handcuffs by the Los Angeles police. The news attracted added attention from conservatives due to a recent interview in which Mike criticized Biden.
On Monday (February 5), the New York Post reported off Los Angele Police’s Twitter/X that “a male adult was detained & handcuffed for a physical altercation that occurred at the 700 block of Chick Hearn Court.” The department did not initially name Mike but did so in a follow-up post that identified the rapper as “48-year-old Michael Render” booked for Misdemeanor Battery 243(A) PC.
Mike spent an hour in detainment and was released from police custody on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in the court on February 29.
As the news of his arrest filled the space, a video clip of Killer Mike’s recent interview on Bill Maher’s show was shared widely on social media wherein Maher is seen pressing on Mike for choosing a presidential candidate in 2024. Seeing Mike’s refusal to name who he will be voting for in 2024, Maher expressly asked Mike why he can’t vote for Biden over Trump. Mike’s response was precious.
“Can he get himself to apologize for the [1994] crime bill? Can he get himself to get his head out of his ass and say ‘Black people, you are black regardless?’”
Speculation from some conservatives instantly followed, wondering whether Mike’s arrest itself was related to his refusal to endorse Biden.
Leftist fact-checkers chimed in to deny such speculation as devoid of facts. PolitiFact wrote that Mike’s arrest was simply because of engaging in an altercation with a security guard.
Maher’s interview with Mike does give a glimpse of the liberal desperation for getting as many famous black people behind Joe Biden for 20204 as they can, using their influence in media. The push for racial polarity by the Democrats reminds of Biden’s infamous “You ain’t balck” comment during his 2020 election campaign that received backlash from the black community.
In a recent interview, popular black rapper and actor Ice Cube said that black people have politically supported Democrats for five or six decades without seeing any change. He said blacks need change.
At a time when an already failing no-competition Biden campaign is suffering from the senile president’s disastrous performance and alarming mental health crisis, the last thing liberals want is losing the race card.
