The headline is not what we heard from wimpy Joe Biden. ; The White House folks are still scratching their heads – wonder if a few troops placed in the separatist region fits the definition of an invasion. ; Not long ago, Biden blustered that the moment ANY troops entered Ukraine it would trigger an automatic imposition of Draconian sanctions that would cripple Russia. ; But when Biden blusters, he lies. ; ;

So far, our response to the buildup and invasion was to threaten unnamed sanctions, reposition American troops to where they will not help the Ukrainians — and now German has suspended the certification of a pipeline that is not yet in use. ; For his part, Biden has ordered an end to business relationships, but only in the regions the Moscow madman claims. ; Putin must be pooping in his pants. ;

Over the past several months, I have criticized the Biden strategy on Ukraine for being weak and potentially ineffective – doomed to failure — in stopping Russian despot Vladimir Putin from invading. ; Sadly, I was right – as were a whole bunch of other pundits and politicians. ; Even average citizens – far from the scene – could see it. ; ;

Now, thousands of people – soldiers and civilians – will likely die – maybe tens of thousands. ; Others will be arrested, incarcerated and tortured. ; That is what the expert analysts had projected before the invasion – and that is what Biden was told would happen. ; He knew it, just as he knew what would happen in Afghanistan.

From day one, Putin was unimpressed by the vague talk of “severe sanctions.” ; Anyone with an IQ higher than a hockey score knew the threat of sanctions was not going to work. ; But that did not stop Biden from continuing to lie to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy … to the American people … to the entire world. ; Biden – ergo NATO — is complicit in paving the way for the Russian invasion by lack of effective measures to prevent it. ; A fact that is painfully obvious now.

Leading up to the Russian invasion, many of those television pundits said that if Putin pulled back, it would be proof that Biden’s strong stand against the Moscow Madman will have succeeded. ; That means that in the light of the invasion, Biden’s jawboning and threats of sanctions were abysmal failures.

The contest between President Biden and Putin was a winner take all. ; There is no partial victory. ; No consolation prize. ; Putin wins. ; Biden loses – along with America, NATO and the civilized world. ; But no people lose more than the Ukrainians.

Despite Biden’s second international tragedy of biblical proportions, many in the press still praise him for his toughness against Putin – and for unifying NATO. ; Both accolades are misplaced. ; Biden displayed weakness against Putin – not causing the Russian despot to alter his plans in the slightest way. ; ;

And the claim of NATO unity is political hype. ; What France will do is still and open to question. ; Hungary always showed reluctance to take on Russia over Ukraine. ; Germany initially banned the airflights sending weapons to Ukraine from flying over German air apace, offered to send only helmets and has only agreed to temporarily delay the completion of the second Nord Stream pipeline. ; But Germany will still take 40 percent of its energy from Russia – helping finance the invasion. Italy has said that oil should not be included in the sanctions. ;

There is no face-saving for the American President. ; Nothing Biden did or threatened worked. ; The President’s entire “peace in our time” did nothing to stop, slow down or limit the invasion that is taking place. ; Biden was a rag doll in the mouth of the Russian bear.

Now that the invasion has begun, I will chance another prediction. ; Not only have the threats of so-called “Draconian sanctions” that would “cripple Russia” not stopped the invasion, but I am also betting that they will not be as crippling as Biden has promised. ; We will see how all these threatened sanctions hold up over time. ; Putin is likely to see them ebbing over time just as all those other so-called “crippling sanctions” proved meaningless.

Whatever damage sanctions can do to Russia in the short term, Putin will see them as a small price to pay for the gains in Ukraine. ; In terms of his plan to rebuild the old Soviet Union, Putin is running the table. ; The wimpy west stood by as he took Georgia, the Crimea and the Donbas Region – and as he is spreading Kremlin hegemony over Belarus. ; ;

The biggest obstacles to Putin’s dream of a restored Soviet Union are those once called “captive nations” that have since joined NATO – such as Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia. ; That has pushed the border of the NATO defense alliance considerably closer to the Russian border – and in some cases, right to the border. ; And that is what has Putin apoplectic.

We have been told many times that Putin does not respect words, diplomacy or threats – but only brute strength. ; Knowing that, however, Biden opted for words, diplomacy and threats. ; How was that ever going to work?

If Ukraine had become a member of NATO, Putin would have lost his last buffer state between the European alliance and Mother Russia. ; But in reality, Putin does not really want Ukraine to be a buffer state. ; He wants to be able to push HIS military to the border of NATO. ; Ukraine is particularly significant because Putin does not see it as a client state – a captive nation — but rather as an integral part of Mother Russia.

At this point, there appears to be no way of defeating Putin. ; No matter how long it takes … or how many incursions … or how many people must die … Putin is likely to own Ukraine as part of Russia. ; There is no strategy – no united will to do what is necessary to stop Putin. ; They say that NATO is united against Putin – but unity without resolve is meaningless.

Ukraine is a big prize even if it costs tens of thousands of lives and triggers a massive migration into eastern Europe – potentially destabilizing the NATO nations on the Russian/Ukraine border. ; Of course, that is just another plus for Putin. ; If the United States and NATO look impotent – as they do – Putin wins. ;

And keep in mind, that Ukraine is not the last stop on Putin’s march westward. ; He has already declared that he does not consider the nations that joined NATO after the fall of the old Soviet Union as legitimate NATO nations. ; He wants the NATO border to be returned to the 1990s map – the Soviet Union map.

In a moment of candor, Biden said that he viewed Putin as a killer. ; He is more than that. ; Putin’s willingness to launch a large-scale catastrophic war of aggression and occupation makes Putin the closest thing we have seen to Adolph Hitler. ; The major difference is that the civilized world united to stop Hitler, this year it united to shaking a scolding finger at Putin – diplomatically, of course.

Once again, Biden will preside over the loss of another strategically – with horrific impact on millions of innocent freedom-loving people. ; And the fool has almost three more years to screw up. ; How many more allies will he surrender to America’s adversaries? ; How many millions of innocent people will he allow to be oppressed and killed?

So, there ‘tis.

PUTIN’S INVASION HAS STARTED!!! RUSSIAN TROOPS MOVE INTO UKRAINE
