Public Library Board in NC Dismissed over Keeping Trans-Themed Children’s Book

Children’s books have been weaponized by the liberal groups to launch cultural attacks on American families that otherwise reject the transgenderism movement of the left. Liberal authors have been creating storybooks for kids in which the main child characters are not happy with their gender and want to change it, something that defies science and sanity. But in conservative states and towns, more and more people are waking up to this treacherous scheme and are taking action to protect the children. In Randolph County, NC, the entire board of trustees of the public library was dismissed this month after it decided to keep a transgenderism-themed children’s book.

The story was initially reported a day after Randolph County Commissioners voted 3 against 2 to dismiss the library’s board of trustees on December 8. Blue Ridge Public Radio reported that the dismissal of the board followed a public hearing attended by some 200 locals whose comments were heard by the panel of the commissioners. The board was then dismissed and the existing laws that govern it were dissolved.

The book over which the trustees sacrificed their seats on the library’s board is titled Call Me Max. Written by transgender author Kyle Lukoff and published in November 2019, the story features a young girl who decides that she is a boy and should be called Max. LifeSite News (December 24) cited Lukoff’s reaction to the news of the library board of trustees getting fired for keeping her book:

“A library’s entire board of trustees was fired and replaced because they refused to ban one of my books. It’s so terrible.”

Call Me Max received praise from those who accept transgenderism in children but normal people who bought it without realizing its content rated it poorly and alerted other parents against buying it. One such review on Amazon by a mother named Jessica wrote:

I was alarmed to see what this book was about. I don’t think I gender ideology is appropriate to push on kids. Nor was it advertised that it was this type of story. I simply got it because my son’s name is Max and would suggest that this book show a disclaimer in the description so those that oppose it can stear clear.

Filling kids’ section in public and school libraries with transgender stories has been a leftist mission for years now. Lukoff, who herself has been a school librarian, put it out clearly in a video message in 2024.

"I wrote this story because I believe that trans boys,
