Protests to be held against Planned Parenthood in 50 cities, major corporate sponsors withdraw
On Tuesday, pro-lifers in more than 50 cites plan to rally against Planned Parenthood and its practice of selling human body parts. National groups Student for Life of America (SFLA) and Pro-life Future have launched the #WomensBetrayed initiative which urged these rallies to encourage their state leadership to investigate practices of Planned Parenthood.
Kristan Hawkins, president of SFLA said “Women are supposed to help and support other women – not use them for profit and sell the body parts of their prenatal children. Planned Parenthood gets a half a billion a year in taxpayer dollars. We are calling on every state and federal government to cut off those funds immediately and investigate Planned Parenthood for possible wrongdoing.”
As covered by PBP earlier, two videos were released by the Center for Medical Progress with interviews from senior Planned Parenthood executives describing the ghoulish practice of harvesting and selling human parts from aborted fetuses.
Major sponsors Coca Cola, Xerox and Ford have all asked to be withdrawn from the list of donors to Planned Parenthood, according to the Heritage Foundation.
According to Fox News, Rand Paul yesterday was attempting to force a rare Sunday vote on his bill to defund Planned Parenthood. No word as to his success yet. He is among several Senators who are attempting pull over half a billion dollars of federal money given to Planned Parenthood each year.
President Obama has doubled down in his support for the organization, thanking them for their history of service. AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, has also come forward to support Planned Parenthood. We’re not really sure why unions would be involved in this.
