Prominent Democrat Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

A prominent Democrat has been arrested after being tracked by the authorities for distributing child pornography. Patrick Wojahn remained the mayor of College Park, Maryland, until the day before his arrest on Thursday (March 2, 2023) for possessing and distributing child porn.

Wojahn, 47, resigned the day before his arrest on Thursday. Media reported that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children noticed a social media account distributing child porn and reported it to law enforcement. The ensuing investigation led to Mayor Wojahn as the content distributor.

He has been charged by the Prince George’s County Police with 56 counts of possession (40 counts) and distribution (16 counts) of child porn.

Leftist media promoted Wojahn as the first openly gay mayor of College Park. His images with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, another famous gay Democrat, have since been making rounds on social media, implying friendship between them. Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk said on Twitter that Wojahn was a regular White House guest.

Wojahn made media appearances and social media posts to promote fundraising for activities and programs involving young children.

In his resignation letter, Wojahn stated that he was stepping away to deal with his mental health issues. When the news of his arrest on child pornography charges broke, the administration of College Park stated that it hit them as a shocking and disturbing news.

Patrick Wojahn isn’t the first Democrat mayor to face criminal charges over child porn in recent years. Oregon Democrat Dennis Doyle, mayor of Beaverton from 2009 till 2021, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in October last year. While facing a maximum of 20 years in prison, Doyle was sentenced to only 6 months in a federal prison and a fine of $22,000.

In April 2021, California Democrat Robert Jacob, former mayor of Sebastapol, was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a minor. Jacob pleaded no contest to the charges last year and is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.
