<p class="p1"><span class="s1">President Donald Trump on Thursday expressed the possibility of delaying the November election to prevent the massive voter fraud that will occur if we utilize mail-in ballots. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">“With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE &; FRAUDULENT Election in history,” tweeted Trump. “It will be a great embarrassment to the USA…Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???” </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">President Trump clarified that he does not <em>want</em> to postpone the election, but is concerned that the litigation over mail-in ballots could delay the results by “days, months, or even years.”</span></p>
<p>Democrats immediately accused Trump <span class="s1">of trying to postpone the election in fears that he will lose to Joe Biden. Others accused him of attempting to suppress voting rights or setting the stage for his refusal to leave office if he loses the election. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">“The President is just raising a question about the chaos Democrats have created with their insistence on all mail-in voting,” explained Hogan Gidley, a spokesperson for Trump’s reelection campaign. “They are using coronavirus as their means to try to institute universal mail-in voting, which means sending every registered voter a ballot whether they asked for one or not.”</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Five states have existing rules that automatically send ballots to all registered voters and most states allow mail-in voting without a reason. </span><span class="s1">California lawmakers recently </span><span class="s1">approved a bill that requires each county to send a ballot to every eligible voter.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">“Voter rolls are notoriously full of bad addresses for people who have moved, are non-citizens, or are even deceased,” added Gidley. “Universal mail-in voting invites chaos and severe delays in results, as proven by the New York Congressional primary where we still don’t know who won after more than a month.”</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Critics have also described as hypocritical Trump’s insistence that schools reopen despite the widespread concerns about in-person voting. </span></p>
<p>As I noted in a previous article, CDC data tells us that less than <span class="s1">7% of all COVID-19 cases in the United States affect people in the 0-19 age group. Furthermore, the likelihood that a person will contract or die from COVID-19 increases steadily with age. </span><span class="s1">Older Americans have always voted at higher rates than younger Americans, meaning those most at risk will be at the polls while those least at risk will be attending school. </span></p>
