
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Losing the 2024 election for the Presidency, House, and Senate wasn’t the lowest point for Democrats. In the first two months of Trump’s reclaiming the presidency, the popularity of the Democratic Party and its leadership has consistently spiraled down the drain. And even leftist media have started showing the Democrats the mirror of their political reality.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“Full of despair,” was how liberal <em>Politico</em> (March 17) described the Senate leadership of Democrats that just failed to stop the government funding bill tabled by the Republicans. Instead of uniting in resistance to stop it, ten Democrat Senators including their leader Chuck Schumer voted for the bill. To overcome the filibuster, Republicans needed these Democrat votes in the Senate while the liberal voters staunchly opposed to the Trump administration wanted a government shutdown. <em>Politico</em> wrote:</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>Schumer’s strategy exposed major fissures within the party, marking for many of his members a disappointing retreat.</em></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Unlike the liberal federal judges, who are showing active resistance via rulings that block Trump’s executive orders even if temporarily, the Democratic leadership is showing signs of unwillingness to fight back with all their might. The consequence is a stark decline in popularity for the leadership and the party. The same day as he voted with Republicans to pass the funding bill, Senator Schumer was reported to have put off a series of events scheduled for this week amid concerns of protests by angry Democrats who are disappointed with his leadership. The paper cited liberal activist Adam Green as:</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>“We warned last week that if Democrats caved on the funding bill, it would help Republicans by redirecting some of the anger away from Trump and toward Democrats, and Chuck Schumer just proved us right.”</em></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Leftist news channel CNN which is infamous for going to extremes of political propaganda to further the left-wing ideologies and defend Democratic policies showed its frustration by reminding the Democrats of their record-low ratings in more than thirty years – a mere 29% by CNN and just 27% by NBC. The channel’s data analyst Harry Enten exclaimed, “Oh my goodness gracious, you just can’t get worse than these numbers!”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sam Stein of <em>The Bulwark</em> opined on Sunday (March 16) that the CNN and NBC ratings of Democrats actually came out before the Senate Democrats helped Republicans pass the bill to fund the Trump administration, and thus the updated ratings could be even lower. On the show, his fellow journalist Lauren Egan attributed this plummet in support to a lack of strong leadership in the Democratic Party.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Gregory Lyakhov wrote in<em> The Jerusalem Post</em>, the right-leaning paper from Israel, that this is not a temporary setback to the Democratic Party but an “identity crisis” that might well cost them the next presidential election. Among other things, Lyakhov attributed this crisis facing the Democrats to their drop in support for Israel:</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>One of the most glaring betrayals has been the party’s wavering stance on Israel. Once a pillar of US foreign policy, Democratic support for Israel is now eroding, leaving Jewish Americans and pro-Israel voters questioning their place in the party.</em></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">However, Paul Waldman of MSNBC voiced a different feeling over the reports of disastrous ratings of Democrats. He sees this lack of popularity for the liberal leadership in the country as evidence of a fired-up base. In his words:</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>“But that the very fact that the party’s base is so livid at its leadership could be good news. Recent history tells us that that anger may be crucial if the Democrats are to back from their current lowly position.”</em></p>
