Over 6,000 Nigerian Christians Have Been Slaughtered This Year
In just the past week, over 238 Christians have been murdered in Nigeria by a Muslin tribal herdsmen known as Fulanis.
Church leaders have said that “over 6,000 persons, mostly children, women and the aged have been maimed and killed in night raids by armed Fulani herdsmen” since the beginning of the year.
According to the Global Terrorism Index, the Fulani herdsmen have killed 60,000 people since 2001.
Nigeria has become an unsafe place for Christians.
“What is happening in Plateau state and other select states in Nigeria is pure genocide and must be stopped immediately,” said the Christian Association of Nigeria in a press release last week.
The group is begging the government in Nigeria “to stop this senseless and blood shedding in the land and avoid a state of complete anarchy where the people are forced to defend themselves.”
But President Muhammadu Buhari has yet to take action against the Fulani radicals.
Some media have reported that the killings were due to violent disputes between community groups. However, the Christian Association of Nigeria argues that Christians, in particular, are being targeted and the Nigerian government may be manipulating the media and somehow behind the attacks.
“We reject the narrative that the attacks on Christian communities across the country as ‘farmers/herdsmen clash.’ The federal government has been so immersed in this false propaganda and deceit while forcefully pushing the policy idea of establishing cattle ranches/colonies on the ancestral farming lands of the attacked communities for the Fulani herdsmen as the only solution to the problem,” writes the group. “How can it be a clash when one group is persistently attacking, killing, maiming, destroying; and the other group is persistently being killed, maimed and their places of worship destroyed? How can it be a clash when the herdsmen are hunting farmers in their own villages/communities and farmers are running for their lives?”
Without Christians, the Fulani could control north and central Nigeria both politically and economically.
The international human rights attorney Emmanuel Ogebe, who recently lost family members in an attack, called the recent spike in murders a Genocide.
“What we have is a genocide. They are trying to displace the Christians, they are trying to possess their land and they are trying to impose their religion on the so-called infidels and pagans who they consider Christians to be,” said Ogebe.
AK-47 are the Fulani radicals weapons of choice, which is suspicious considering the cost of these weapons.
“A lot of these cattle are owned by very rich Fulanis who are in government and who are in power. So, there is a strong belief that the Fulanis, the ruling elite are actually funding the herdsmen to conduct these attacks,” said Ogebe.
So since there hasn’t been help from the Nigerian government, the Christian Association of Nigeria is turning to the United Nations for aid.
“We are particularly worried at the widespread insecurity in the country where wanton attacks and killings by armed Fulani herdsmen, bandits and terrorists have been taking place on a daily basis in our communities unchallenged despite huge investments in the security agencies,” said the group.
Author’s note: This is heartbreaking to see and mysteriously these attacks aren’t being covered by the mainstream media, especially by liberal outlets.
Editor’s note: Nigeria has a severe problem with Islamic terrorism, Christians are the target. We seem to care a lot about Syrian refugees, but no one seems to care about the Christians.
