NYTimes Writer Urges Puberty-Blocking Drugs for 'Transgender' Children

<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1"><em>The New York Times <&sol;em>writer and researcher at Yale&comma; Jack Turban published an article encouraging doctors to perpetuate the transgender movement by giving children puberty-blocking drugs&period;<&sol;span><span class&equals;"s1">&nbsp&semi;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">Turban&rsquo&semi;s controversial opinion article titled &ldquo&semi;Hannah Is a Girl&period; Doctors Finally Treat Her Like One&comma;&rdquo&semi;&nbsp&semi;gives an example of how a doctor is helping &&num;8220&semi;Hannah&comma;&&num;8221&semi; who was born as a 14-year-old boy&comma; turn into the sex he identifies as&period;<&sol;span><span class&equals;"s1">&nbsp&semi;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">&ldquo&semi;Hannah&rdquo&semi; has been given a puberty-blocking implant in his bicep as part of his transition&period;<&sol;span><span class&equals;"s1">&nbsp&semi;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">&ldquo&semi;Taking her red cheeks as a sign to change the subject&comma; we switch back to medicine&period; I feel around her bicep&comma; where a hard rod just beneath her skin releases a drug that turns off the brain cells that would otherwise kick off puberty&period; The implant has been in place for two years&comma; preventing the process that would have deepened her voice and given her an Adam&rsquo&semi;s apple&period; She has been happy with the blocker&comma; but is ready to move on&comma;&rdquo&semi; writes Turban for the <em>New York Times&period;<&sol;em><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">Turban applauds Hannah&rsquo&semi;s doctor for providing this treatment and makes a call for all American doctors to prescribe these hormones to children who identify as transgender&period; Truban calls the implant that &ldquo&semi;Hannah&rdquo&semi; has in his arm the proper &ldquo&semi;protocol for thousands of American Children&period;&rdquo&semi;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">He also points out how people have been conditioned to accept the concept of transgenderism now&comma; versus 10 years ago&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">&ldquo&semi;Back then&comma; a doctor may have based her treatment on a&nbsp&semi;2002 manual&nbsp&semi;for the treatment of &ldquo&semi;gender identity disorder in young boys&period;&rdquo&semi; The manual recommends a range of behavioral interventions to force-fit a child into traditional gender roles&period; They include keeping the child away from typically feminine activities like gymnastics&comma; scheduling more play dates with boys and encouraging &ldquo&semi;letting go&rdquo&semi; of the boy by the mother&period; The hope was that early treatment would &ldquo&semi;diminish the risk of a continuation of gender identity disorder into adulthood&rdquo&semi; &mdash&semi; in other words&comma; make children stop being transgender&comma;&rdquo&semi; writes Turban for the <em>New York Times&period;<&sol;em><&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">But then he explains how times of changed&period;<&sol;span><span class&equals;"s1">&nbsp&semi;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">&ldquo&semi;Fortunately&comma; most doctors no longer think this way&period; In 2012&comma; Dr&period; Diane Ehrensaft from the University of California&comma; San Francisco&comma;&nbsp&semi;proposed&nbsp&semi;&ldquo&semi;true gender self child therapy&comma;&rdquo&semi; in which even the youngest children are allowed to explore their gender identity&comma; with all outcomes &lpar;transgender or not&rpar; being treated as equally desirable&comma;&rdquo&semi; writes Turban for the<em> New York Times&period;<&sol;em><&sol;span><span class&equals;"s1">&nbsp&semi;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">Turban ends the article by saying it&rsquo&semi;s &ldquo&semi;insane&rdquo&semi; to not supply children with puberty-blocking drugs&period;<&sol;span><span class&equals;"s1">&nbsp&semi;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">&ldquo&semi;Doctors once argued that it would be insane to block a child&rsquo&semi;s puberty and change her body&period; Seeing Hannah as a happy and thriving teenager&comma; I now see it would be insane not to&comma;&rdquo&semi; writes Turban for the <em>New York Times<&sol;em>&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">The backlash from Turban&rsquo&semi;s outlandish statements has been massive&period; The article has been referred to as evil for promoting child abuse&period; The doctors and parents supporting the gender dysphoria pointed out in this <em>New York Times <&sol;em>opinion piece are also being condemned&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">&&num;8220&semi;The parents are freaks of nature&period; Leave the children alone&period; They aren&rsquo&semi;t an experiment&period; You monsters&excl;&rdquo&semi; tweeted MSMCali&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">&&num;8220&semi;NO&period; That is child abuse&period; Those children need therapists&comma; not pills or surgeons&comma;&rdquo&semi; tweeted Mr&period; Shepard&period;<&sol;span><span class&equals;"s1">&nbsp&semi;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">Truban&rsquo&semi;s opinion couldn&rsquo&semi;t be further from the American College of Pediatrics&rsquo&semi; recommendations&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">The association warns that &ldquo&semi;a life of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex&rdquo&semi; is dangerous&period;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p1"><span class&equals;"s1">&ldquo&semi;A person&rsquo&semi;s belief that he or she is something they are not is&comma; at best&comma; a sign of confused thinking&comma;&rdquo&semi; said the professional association of pediatricians in a statement in January&period; &ldquo&semi;Children who use puberty blockers to impersonate the opposite sex will require cross-sex hormones in late adolescence&period; Cross-sex hormones &lpar;testosterone and estrogen&rpar; are associated with dangerous health risks including but not limited to high blood pressure&comma; blood clots&comma; stroke and cancer&period;&rdquo&semi; &nbsp&semi;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;span><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p2"><strong>Author&&num;8217&semi;s note<&sol;strong>&colon; We should be appalled by Truban&&num;8217&semi;s statements&period; The doctors supplying these puberty-blocking drugs are committing misconduct&period;&nbsp&semi;The parents allowing their children to destroy healthy reproductive organs are committing a crime&period; Not to mention&comma; most who decide to go through with a sex-change&comma; regret it&period; As the trans-agenda movement gains popularity&comma; the more people get conditioned to believe it&&num;8217&semi;s fine&period; The truth is this is child abuse and more people need to stand up against it&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"p2"><strong>Editor&&num;8217&semi;s note&colon;<&sol;strong> This is the most horrible example of child abuse I can think of&comma; to screw with a child&&num;8217&semi;s mind&nbsp&semi;and convince them they are &&num;8216&semi;transgender&&num;8217&semi; before they reach puberty&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
