New York’s Anti-Trump Attorney Wanted to Release Violent Thug on $1 Bail

Democrat-run New York City is a crime haven because the liberal prosecutors mockingly work against the victims and in favor of dangerous criminals. In a recent case, reported in the New York Post (NYP), a thug who savagely assaulted a reporter for the daily was given a friendly attempt at release by the District Attorney (DA) Alvin Bragg who asked the court for a nominal $1 bail for releasing the thug.

On August 30, NYP crime reporter Tina Moore expressed her outrage at the leftist prosecutorial office of Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg for enabling the thug who had sucker-punched her in 2023 during a commute in NYC. The criminal, 36-year-old Kamieo Caines, was not caught for two years; and when he was finally was arrested, the statute of limitations on the assault offense had already run out. Bragg then asked the court for releasing Caines on a $1 bail! Moore wrote:

The monster who randomly sucker-punched me in the gut while I was walking to work two years ago was arrested on Aug. 18 — and given an insulting $1 bail by infamously soft-on-crime Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.

In his own way, Bragg sucker-pushed Moore without a physical assault. Moore made the point that Democrats in public offices are crime-friendly by reminding readers that Caines had 20 prior arrests, including a dozen for felony assaults, and was on parole at the time he assaulted her.

While it hurt to be failed by the public office that gets paid to bring criminals to justice, Moore found some relief in the fact that Caines was kept jailed in another case:

Luckily, he’s behind bars on Rikers Island — because he allegedly tried to sell drugs to an undercover cop just before he was collared.

The street thug’s bail in that case was set at $200,000 as if to make a point that assault on a woman isn’t that big a deal and maybe more so if the victim happens to be an employee for some right-wing press. After all, the left never acts apolitically and in the case of DA Bragg, it’s the first thing to suspect, remembering how he prosecuted President Trump in 2023 to get the limelight from affiliate media of the deep state.

Moore’s story wasn’t the only one bemoaning the pro-crime administration of NYC. Just days before her story, The Western Journal reported (August 25) reported on the crime spree in the city involving a criminal named Kevin Dubuisson who – as the story put it – has a “mile-long rap sheet.” Dubuisson attempted carjacking a few times, threatened some people including a white woman whom he called racial slurs, and then struck an 87-year-old woman along with her daughter while backing up an SUV he had just carjacked. He also assaulted a police officer.

Dubuisson was arrested and was said to have shown no remorse on injuring the senior citizen who had to be hospitalized. He was able to commit this wave of crimes all on the same day because he had just been arrested and released the day before. The story cited NYP as:

According to the Post, Dubuisson had been arrested just one day earlier for allegedly stealing two cars and crashing one into a construction site… Police believed he was responsible for last Thursday’s crime spree, but let him go. Instead of being held in a jail cell, he was given a ticket to appear.

There’s no end in sight for the soft-on-crime policies of NYC liberals that are destroying any sense of security in the city. On the contrary, the next favorite candidate for NYC mayor – Zohran Mamdani – is a known anti-police socialist. Rafael A. Mangual wrote in NYP (September 4) that “Defund the police” and “Abolish jails” have been key elements of Mamdani’s political campaigns. So if he wins the mayoral race this November, expect the public safety crisis of the town to take another hit.
