In February, the news that the British Prime Minister was ready to deploy his country’s troops to Ukraine to fight against Russia and in defense of Ukraine raised the alarm over the potential start of World War 3. Later, France also expressed willingness to send its troops for “peacekeeping” in Ukraine in case of future conflicts with Russia. Now that fear has been averted but the shadow of a big war with Russia still hovers over the world.
On Sunday (March 30), the Washington Post reported that France and the UK are considering plans to deploy naval and air forces to Ukraine instead of deploying ground troops there. A joint military team from the two leading European NATO members will be visiting Ukraine soon to make assessments toward this goal.
The story cited unnamed diplomats familiar with details of the matter to reveal that the European shift to guarding the air and sea around Ukraine owes to the concerns that these NATO powers may not be able to maintain their ground deployment of troops. The powers in question are waiting for a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia to take effect first.
The Trump administration has been trying to bring the two sides to agree to a temporary ceasefire but European NATO’s continued support of Ukraine via aid and military assurances have prevented Ukraine from committing to a ceasefire. On the Russian side too, the Putin administration is distrustful of NATO and Ukraine to actually commit to a ceasefire since Ukraine has been launching continual drone attacks on civilian infrastructure inside Russia. Anti-war analysts, mostly conservatives in America and abroad, have long condemned both the U.S. and more recently European NATO members for fueling the Russia-Ukraine war by egging Ukraine on despite their major setbacks on the battlefield.
Combat veteran and conservative commentator Douglas Macgregor, who served as a senior defense advisor during President Trump’s first term, expressed his disbelief in any real military action by the warmongers of Western Europe. On Judge Napolitano’s show “Judging Freedom,” Macgregor opined that European NATO leadership tried to drag the United States into a war with Russia but failed and the main powers in European NATO – UK, France, and Germany – are in a weak position both militarily and financially. Hence, they are not capable of taking on Russia.

On the campaign trail prior to the 2024 presidential election, President Trump repeatedly claimed that he would end the Ukraine-Russia war in a matter of days, even stating that he could do it before officially being sworn in as the U.S. President again. However, nearly three months later, his attempts to bring the two sides to a peace agreement seem to have failed.
Many conservative and independent commentators and social media voices are sounding the alarm over a potential world war not in Europe but in the Middle East amid recent bombings of the Houthi militants in Yemen by the Trump administration that has pledged to defend Israel at any cost. Florida-based commentator Luke Rudkowski posted his video commentary on the latest situation of escalating political-military tension in the Middle East. Starting with a Daily Mail article that claimed that Trump is about to bomb Iran, Rudkowski said it would be the biggest mistake ever for the Trump administration to start a war against Iran.
