National Day of Prayer A Success

<p>May 7th was our nation&&num;8217&semi;s 64th National Day of Prayer&period; The theme for this year was&comma; &&num;8220&semi;Lord&comma; hear our cry&comma;&&num;8221&semi; drawn from the bible verse 1 Kings 8&colon;28&colon; &&num;8220&semi;Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence today&period;&&num;8221&semi;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<div><&sol;div>&NewLine;<div>An estimated 35&comma;000 different prayer gatherings were held around the country at churches&comma; courthouses&comma; businesses&comma; public parks&comma; and private homes&period; A long prayer service was held on Capitol Hill for congressmen and other people working on the hill&period; Senate Chaplain Rev&period; Barry Black&comma; Honorary Day of Prayer Chairman Dr&period; Jack Graham of the Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano&comma; Texas&comma; and Dr&period; Ben Carson spoke to a packed room about themes of humility&comma; repentance&comma; hope&comma; and the power of prayer&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;div>&NewLine;<div><&sol;div>&NewLine;<div>Dr&period; Jack Graham wrote a special prayer for the nation&&num;8217&semi;s faithful to read simultaneously at every prayer gathering from coast to coast&comma; resulting in millions of Americans reading the same prayer at the same time as an illustration of the unity of Christians in America&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;div>&NewLine;<div><&sol;div>&NewLine;<div>Many speakers at the Capitol Hill service called on Christians nationwide to pray for our nation&&num;8217&semi;s political and judicial leadership&period; Said one judge who spoke at the prayer service&comma; &&num;8220&semi;You can&&num;8217&semi;t check your faith at the courthouse door&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;div>&NewLine;<div><&sol;div>&NewLine;<div>The service was broadcast on several religious channels and was also streamed online on nationaldayofprayer&period;org so that anyone who so chose could watch the national service&period;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;div>&NewLine;
