Nancy Pelosi: Biden Should not Debate Trump

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Thursday urged Joe Biden to cancel his three planned debates with President Trump, suggesting Trump would “belittle” the forum and engage in bad behavior.

“I don’t think that there should be any debates,” said Pelosi. “I wouldn’t legitimize a conversation with him, nor a debate in terms of the presidency of the United States.”

Pelosi is far from the only high-profile Democrat trying to hide the Party’s nominee from Trump. In the words of RNC communications director Michael Ahrens, Democrats’ advice to Biden has been: ‘Don’t debate, don’t leave the basement, and don’t concede the election.’

As I suggested in a previous article, Joe Biden is not the candidate the Dems or their voters wanted, but he is perceived as their best chance to defeat Trump based on name recognition and experience. As evinced by his partnership with former rival Bernie Sanders, Biden appears to be a puppet candidate under the control of others.

Trump’s communications director, Tim Murtaugh, expressed the concern that Biden’s “handlers” will decide to keep him “in his basement and avoid debates entirely or suggest holding them remotely,” in which case he could rely on “a teleprompter or notes.”

The Trump-Biden debates are scheduled for September 29th, October 15th, and October 22nd, though the Trump campaign has complained that some states allow early voting before the first debate is scheduled.

“Biden has vehemently opposed holding even one debate before millions of Americans actually start voting,” notes Murtaugh. “And one has to wonder why he would fear a side-by-side comparison with President Trump before ballots are cast…Biden clearly knows he can’t defend the radical left policies he has adopted and wants to keep voters in the dark as long as possible.”

Nonetheless, Biden confirmed on Thursday his intentions to debate President Trump, adding that he would be a “fact-checker” during the debates.

Nancy Pelosi immediately pivoted and said she had “every confidence” in Biden. “Why I said he shouldn’t debate [Trump] has nothing to do with Joe Biden,” she said. “Joe Biden will be great. He is a great debater.”

Biden’s willingness to participate in the debates is great news for the Trump campaign, as they know the commander-in-chief will destroy Sleepy Joe in and one-on-one debate.
