House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA,) has pledged to “revisit” the new tax cut package to put the “middle class first” and “reduce the debt” if Democrats get control of the House. ;

She then went on to blame the Republicans for making the middle-class tax breaks temporary. ;

“The reason they didn’t make them permanent in the first place was that they were operating under reconciliation, and under reconciliation, they could only have so much addition to the debt,” said Pelosi. “In their priorities, they chose corporate America over middle-class families, because they couldn’t do both.” ; ;

She also said that the Dems have plans to increase the corporate tax rate from the current 21 percent because the recent bonuses and raises haven’t been enough.

“Some have gotten a bonus, some have gotten a little raise, but they haven’t shared — it’s mostly been about buybacks and dividends and rewarding shareholders,” said Pelosi.

She claims that voters aren’t happy with the $1.5 trillion tax cut program.

“They’re losing the public relations fight,” said Pelosi. “They won the vote … but they have not won the public opinion of it because the experience people have is something very contrary to misrepresentations they have made about it.”

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise argues that it’s actually been quite the contrary. ;

“People are seeing more money in their paychecks. They like the direction we are headed,” said Scalise on Fox News. “The last thing we need to do is what Pelosi said earlier this week.”

House Speaker Paul Ryan expressed similar sentiments that voters will reject the idea of raising taxes.

“They want to raise taxes on hard-working Americans. They want to raise taxes on businesses. They want to make it harder for American businesses to stay in America,” said Ryan. “I can’t imagine that America will want that to happen.

President Donald Trump also put Pelosi on blast for her Democratic party’s plans to raise taxes.

Trump said “the strides we have been making have never, ever been made like this before,” and warned that they “can also disappear if you put fools and if you put the wrong people in.”

“Nancy Pelosi said yesterday she wants to end the tax cuts and raise your taxes. I said, ‘Tell me, is that like good politics?” said Trump. “That’s her thought, that’s what they want to do. They want to raise your taxes, end your tax cuts.” ;

Author’s note: Pelosi and the Dems are already planning to roll back some of the tax cuts. Most American voters won’t be happy to hear this. This is why the mid-term elections are so important.
