While on NBC News, Thae Yong Ho, North Korea defector said that Kim Jong Un is desperate and warned that the world “should be ready to deal with” the country.
According to him, the North Korean dictator is “desperate in maintaining his rule by relying on his nuclear weapons and [intercontinental ballistic missiles].”
This would explain the influx of the recent missile tests.
Trump and his administration have made it clear they don’t approve of Kim Jong Un’s nuclear weapon program. The Trump administration is drafting policy to deal with the nation.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said earlier this month that “diplomatic … efforts of the past 20 years to bring North Korea to a point of de-nuclearization have failed” and that military action was “on the table.”
Then last Friday, U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said the country’s recent actions were “reckless” and their nuclear weapon program “has got to be stopped.”
Trump expressed similar sentiments this week.
“Well if China is not going to solve North Korea, we will. That is all I am telling you,” said Trump to the Financial Times prior to his Chinese President Xi Jinping, where the two leaders
This is threatening language coming from the U.S. government leader.
However, Thae believes that Kim can’t be intimidated into submission and cooperation.
“Once he sees that there is any kind of sign of a tank or an imminent threat from America, then he would use his nuclear weapons with ICBM,” said Thae to NBC. “Kim Jong-un is a man who can do anything beyond the normal imagination”
Thae said that Kim will use whatever means necessary to keep and gain power.
“Kim Jong-un is a person who did not even hesitate to kill his uncle and a few weeks ago, even his half-brother,” said Thae. “So, he is a man who can do anything to remove [anyone in] his way.”
He did offer a solution, but it wouldn’t be easy.
“The final and the real solution to the North Korean nuclear issue is to eliminate Kim Jong-un from the post,” said Thae.
Author’s note: Although U.S. officials have harshened their rhetoric about North Korea lately, it doesn’t look like they are ready to take military action. However, Thae is a reliable source and what he says about dictator Kim is probably right.
Update: North Korea has just fired yet another missile as a provocation.
