Mamdani Wins. Everyone Else Loses.

As expected, Zohran Mamdani has been elected as the next mayor of New York City. While he won, it seems like virtually everyone else lost. Let us look at the losers.

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo lost. He lost more than the election. After being blamed for Covid-19 deaths in nursing homes and forced to resign as governor due to a sex scandal, Cuomo has likely lost any future in politics.

Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa also lost the election – and more. Like Cuomo, he has no future in public life. That is not due to his losing the election, but for not getting out of the race. He served as a spoiler – paving the way for Mamdani’s victory. It was a case study in arrogance and hubris on Sliwa’s part – unless, of course, he wanted Mamdani to win.

New York’s current Mayor Eric Adams lost. Criminal accusations and an alliance with Trump made him unelectable. So, he dropped out.

Approximately half of New York City voters lost. Mamdani won with smidgen over 50 percent of the vote – which means half or New York voters wanted someone other than Mamdani.

Jews lost. In a city with a large Jewish population – and once referred to as “Hymie Town” by Jesse Jackson – the election of an antisemitic Muslim is a stunner.

Every citizen of New York City lost – even those who voted for Mamdani. If he is able to keep his radical campaign promises, the city will suffer – and so will all its residents. And if he abandons his extreme socialist (communist?) agenda, those who voted for him will be betrayed.

The business and financial communities lost. His class warfare policies will undermine the private sector. They will find it necessary to shift some operations out of the Big Apple or abandon the city altogether. That includes the all-important financial sector.

The taxpayers lost. Even if Mamdani’s policies are only partially enacted, the tax burden on New Yorkers – who are already overburdened – will increase significantly.

The Democratic Party lost. Mamdani’s extreme left-wing agenda has already divided the party. It is another indication that the donkey party has been taken over by its most extreme faction. Mamdani socialism will not sell well in fly-over America.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is a loser … big time. His flip-flopping on the shutdown – and his inability to endorse his party’s nominee – made him look weak and vulnerable. His political career may not extend past his current term – ending in 2027.

The people of America have lost. Having a radical left mayor ruling over New York City’s financial, news and entertainment industries will have national ramifications.

Prime Minister Netanyahu and the state of Israel are losers. Mamdoni’s strident anti-Israel positions – including his support for the Boycott, Disinvest and Sanction (BDS) Movement against Israel — will have profound impacts. Mamdani’s threat to arrest Netanyahu as a war criminal may prevent Israel’s head of state for returning to the UN.

President Trump lost. There was a measurable anti-Trump vote. It was seen in the regions he won in 2024, and Republican candidates lost this year. The inroads that Trump had made among Blacks, Hispanics and women all evaporated – at least temporarily.

Perhaps not everybody lost. The radical left-wing faction of the Democratic Party – including the left-wing media establishment – can claim victory. But they still remain as a fringe – but increasingly powerful — portion of the electorate. They have power in a few extremely left-wing venues but remain unpopular among the vast majority of the American people.

The extreme left in the Democratic Party has strengthened its hold on the Big Apple. That will not turn out well for America.

So, there ‘tis.
