Lindsey Graham: Brokered convention not “fair” to Trump

<p>Despite his disapproval of Donald Trump&comma; Senator Lindsey Graham believes the Republican Party would be better off losing the general election than having a brokered convention denying Trump the nomination&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Graham ended his own presidential campaign in December after falling behind in the polls&period; He warns that a brokered convention would not be &ldquo&semi;fair&rdquo&semi; to Trump&comma; despite the overwhelming disapproval of the candidate by the &&num;8220&semi;establishment&&num;8221&semi; of the Republican Party&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&ldquo&semi;If he got two thirds of what he needs&comma; which I think he&rsquo&semi;s well on his way to doing&comma; for us to steal from him is not going to help the party&comma;&rdquo&semi; he added&period; &ldquo&semi;You can lose an election&period; We&rsquo&semi;ve lost an election before&period; But what I&rsquo&semi;m trying to do is focus on the day after we lose&period; Can we rebuild this party&quest; Can we create a form of conservatism that&rsquo&semi;s enticing to young people and people of color&quest; I think we can&period; And I think that&rsquo&semi;s the only hope for the Republican Party and&comma; quite frankly&comma; one of the big hopes of this country&period;&rdquo&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Graham believes that Trump is exploiting race in an attempt to secure the presidential nomination&period; The senator recently spoke to David Axelrod on &ldquo&semi;The Axe Files&rdquo&semi; podcast and stated&comma; &ldquo&semi;I don&&num;8217&semi;t think he supports the KKK&period; I don&&num;8217&semi;t think he&&num;8217&semi;s a racist&period; But he&&num;8217&semi;s playing a political game&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Although Graham believes Trump is not truly a racist&comma; he does believe that his actions will &ldquo&semi;be the demise of Donald Trump and the Republican Party&rdquo&semi;&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
