
<p>Liberals tend to favor criminals along lines of racial or ethnic identity as it aligns with their political worldview. Liberal women in particular are prone to what psychologist Gad Saad called “suicidal empathy.” They feel sorry for dangerous criminals and oppose punishments that would keep them in check when such offenders fit the left-supported description: black, brown, or other non-white people.</p>



<p>Miranda Devine’s recent op-ed in the <em>New York Post</em> (May 10) highlighted this version of “misplaced empathy” among liberal women that is weaponized by the political left and puts everyone’s safety at risk. Devine cited the case of a 23-year-old woman, not named in the story, who was viciously attacked by a serial offender Rhamell Burke in Manhattan. But she refused to cooperate with the prosecutors because the criminal was a black man and she didn’t want to put another black man behind the bars.</p>



<p>The consequence of the woman’s decision was deadly for someone else – a 76-year-old retired teacher named Ross Falzone who was violently shoved down the stairs by Burke at a Chelsea subway station. Falzone died because the woman put her racial politics above the safety of her fellow Americans by letting Burke walk free. Devine wrote:</p>



<p><em>The irony is that women, just like Burke’s lucky victim, are overrepresented in the ranks of angry anti-NYPD, anti-ICE agitators. They are among the most vulnerable targets of violent predators, yet they insist on protecting them at the expense of their victims.</em></p>



<p>Burke has now been charged with murder, once again raising the familiar question of racial politics masked as empathy and care to shield violent criminals from law and accountability.</p>



<p>The story of the unnamed woman in NY enabling Burke’s deadly crime is just the tip of the iceberg in today’s America. The judicial machinery of the country is full of liberal judges, many of them women, who award light sentences with early release or just probation to offenders who are arrested for violent crimes.</p>



<p>On May 13, the <em>New York Post</em> published a story about the criminal history of Tyler Brown, the shooter who opened fire at cars on a street in Cambridge (MA) last Monday. Brown has a violent criminal record and was prosecuted in 2020 for shooting at cops. But a liberal judge sentenced him to just five years instead of the recommended 10–12-year sentence. Now an audio of the judge from his sentencing has surfaced and reveals that the judge openly spoke of ignoring the warnings of the local police that Brown was a threat to the community. She said she would rather take a chance on him.</p>

<p>Brown’s shooting has left two people fighting for their life because an activist judge wanted to show her empathy to a non-white man.</p>



<p>The brutal murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte (NC) in August last year was similarly enabled directly by a liberal judge – Magistrate Judge Teresa Stokes – who released violent repeat offender Decarlos Brown ahead of a trial. Brown went on to fatally stab Zarutska on a local train. The killing attracted nationwide attention and many on the conservative side called for removal of Judge Stokes over her decision to let Brown walk free.</p>



<p>In October 2022, Pastor Corey B. Brooks, a black man, asked in his <em>Newsweek</em> article why Democrats side with criminals over their victims. Brooks wrote:</p>



<p><em>It is unfortunate, but thanks to decades of failed liberal policies, many of our impoverished, abysmally educated youths resort to violence. And when they do, they prey on us, American citizens who are just trying to live our lives and make the world a better place.</em></p>
