Kevin Durant the mainstay for many years of the Oklahoma City Thunder has singed a two year contract with the Golden State Warriors. ;He joins the Splash Brothers Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to form perhaps the next “super team.” ;

With Durant, the Warriors could be considered the most talented team ever in the NBA. Golden State went 73 and 9 in the 2015-2016 season, the best record in NBA history but then fell short in the championship, losing to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 7 game slugfest.

Durant said it was the best thing for his professional development, perhaps thinking he would never win a championship with Oklahoma. He signs for a reported $54 million. ;

This is an emotional move for Durant, he has been with the Thunder (and its predecessor the Seahawks) since he was drafted in 2007. Quoted in theplayerstribune.com:

“The primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player — as that has always steered me in the right direction. But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth. With this in mind, I have decided that I am going to join the Golden State Warriors.”
