Jewish General Sues Gavin Newsom for Wrongful Termination

Gavin Newsom is facing a new lawsuit by a Jewish general of the California National Guard over alleged wrongful termination. Retired Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Magram, a one-star general, claims that he was fired after he complained about a pattern of antisemitism at his workplace.

General Magram filed the lawsuit in a Los Angeles court on January 24 against California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom and the adjutant general of California, Maj. Gen. Matthew Beevers, as reported by Military Times. According to Magram’s lawsuit, Beevers made antisemitic statements targeting his Jewish heritage and ultimately pushed for his removal after he reported Beevers’ antisemitic behavior.

Magram was fired in January 2023 under directives issued by Newsom’s office and Beevers after the general was probed for and found guilty of “multiple instances of misconduct involving ethical violations and maltreatment of subordinates,” as stated by the California Military Department. However, General Magram denies these claims and contends that the real reason he was targeted by the administration is his Jewish background.

According to Magram’s lawsuit, Governor Newsom ignored all his complaints against Beevers. The story cited the general from a press release as:

“MG Beevers mounted an unprecedented defamatory campaign against me, and it was supported by the Governor. I want to make sure this never happens again.”

Reporting on the lawsuit, Voz Media (February 9) cited General Magram as:

“It’s shocking that Governor Newsom disregarded the many attempts made to correct this situation and appointed MG Beevers permanently as the Adjutant General.”

General Magram’s lawsuit citing antisemitism at the California National Guard and Governor Newsom’s inaction over the issue comes on top of the news of another major lawsuit against the Newsom administration filed in 2020. Media reported earlier this month that the Newsom administration has agreed to pay $2 billion to school students in Los Angeles and Oakland districts affected by Newsom’s draconian shutdowns and lockdowns during the COVID-19 emergency in 2020 and 2021.

The Newsom administration is also facing heat for failing to address soaring crime in major Californian cities, particularly those under liberal administrations. Over the weekend, The New York Post reported that crime has surged up in Alameda County to the degree that Newsom has been forced to consider sending state attorneys to the county to prosecute more crime cases. As the paper wrote, the rise in crime is attributed to Oakland’s woke District Attorney Pamela Price.

Price has been called out for promoting liberal policies such as lower jail terms to increase “equity” in the city.

Misty Severi in The Washington Examiner opined (February 10) that Newsom’s move to address crime is an indication that he plans to become the Democrat presidential nominee for 2024 should the party ditch Joe Biden. Severi wrote:

Critics have claimed that the move is an effort to boost his credibility and popularity ahead of the 2024 and 2028 election cycles because the high crime rate is a blemish on his record.

Yes, there’s a lawsuit which claims Newsom was informed about the antisemitism that has yet to be proved against the guy who may have done it before he fired the General. As to the connectionn to crime in Caliornia, that’s as tenuous as someone needing a few more column inches to make his rent. Pretty thin connections.

    Thanks for yesterday’s news.
