Jack Smith Spied on Republican Senators, Tapping into Their Phones

Jack Smith, the deep state henchman that Biden’s DOJ appointed as Special Counsel to prosecute Trump on charges involving the January 6, 2021, protest and the classified documents cases, has lately been in the headlines again. The current FBI leadership has released official documents of electronic communications at the FBI showing that Smith spied on several Republican senators during the January 6 probe headed by him.

On October 6, Fox News broke the story of Smith spying on Republican senators, including tracking their private phone calls, while he was investigating the January 6 protest at the federal capitol. The story published a redacted copy of the FBI document dated September 27, 2023, making the names of FBI agents involved in the spying scheme invisible. These agents were assigned to conduct “preliminary toll analysis” for each of the listed Republican senators: Lindsey Graham, Marsha Blackburn, Ron Johnson, Josh Hawley, Cynthia Lummis, Bill Hagerty, Dan Sullivan, and Tommy Tuberville. In addition, Republican House member Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania was also on Smith’s list.

Townhall wrote (October 8) that this revelation about Smith spying on US Congress members calls for accountability. The story also questioned why a judge would grant Smith a warrant for such spying:

Apparently, Smith obtained a warrant from a judge to obtain the private cell phone data of lawmakers. The court must have decided that the Fourth Amendment didn’t apply to these Members of Congress. Did the judge really think that there was probable cause that they had engaged in a crime?

Documents provided to the Congress further revealed that Smith and the FBI under Biden also spied on Turning Point USA (TPUSA), the conservative advocacy organization founded by Charlie Kirk. In a Senate hearing on October 7, Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri asked Attorney General Pam Bondi about who ordered the agents to tap into the phones of sitting U.S. Senators. Bondi excused herself from answering the question outright but promised a thorough investigation.

Virginia-based conservative nonprofit National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) posted its response on October 7 to the revelation of Smith’s surveillance targeting conservative lawmakers, calling it “the latest chapter in a sordid saga of weaponized justice.”

Many popular conservative voices on social media called for arresting Jack Smith for this weaponization of the federal justice system against conservatives.

Conservatives also called for arresting Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland along with Smith.

Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana in an interview with Fox News told that they learnt of Smith’s spying on Republican lawmakers’ phones from a whistleblower.

Conservative Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky also slammed Republicans in the position of authority to sit back and take this open abuse of weaponized justice against them but refusing to cut the budget of those who do it to them.
