Recent provocations about very old quotations by the press enraged Trump aide Michael Cohen, who said, “You cannot rape your spouse.” ;This caused an uproar in the press gaining considerable press in mainstream media outlets. ;Donald Trump responded to this saying ;“He’s speaking for himself. He’s not speaking for me, obviously, but I did tell him I disagreed with him.” ;Donald Trump declined to fire Cohen.

Just to put this to bed, here is the statement from Ivana Trump: “I have recently read some comments attributed to me from nearly 30 years ago at a time of very high tension during my divorce from Donald. The story is totally without merit. Donald and I are the best of friends and together have raised three children that we love and are very proud of. I have nothing but fondness for Donald and wish him the best of luck on his campaign. Incidentally, I think he would make an incredible president.”

Author’s note: ;This was an interview conducted by the Daily Beast, who I am now realizing is the lowest of the low in news services. ;They brought up an issue almost 30 years old, took it out of context and managed to get a Trump aide upset about it, then published the outburst.

This is tabloid stuff and doesn’t deserve the covereage on CNN and Fox it has received over the last 24 hours. ; It has already gotten more than the story about Planned Parenthood harvesting human body parts, which is, in my opinion, the most impactful story on American culture of the year. ;The shame of it is the Daily Beast got the exposure they wanted.
